As explained in another Twitter post, Stolas not hugging Blitzø back is completely normal for someone in deep grief and distress. He just needs to be held, some quiet company and Blitzø understands that. Stolas can't reciprocate right now, as he's lost his daughter, hasn't recovered from what happened at the court and has been thrown into a whole new lifestyle. In short, he's still in complete shock. He's not rejecting Blitzø but instead he is bereft of emotion, grieving, and accepting Blitzø's affection without being pressured to reciprocate. And Blitzø respects that completely. You know the old saying, "actions speak louder than words". Even if his relationship with Octavia is currently broken, Stolas at least has Blitzø to lean on.
@MarcoStrange
@MarcoStrange 6 күн бұрын
All true. While I do think Stolas has made mistakes that led to his broken relationship with his daughter, I also agree that it would put a person in shock when dealing with the aftermath. Still, blows my mind how many are complaining about Octavia like she doesn't have a reason to be mad. She should be mad after everything that's happened.

I think Stolas beating the shit out of his ex- brother in law was supposed to be a comedic moment. Because if it was supposed to be taken seriously Stolas would’ve been killed the first punch he threw. Sadly people took it seriously and now are acting autistic about it! 😒

Just a few pointers from me: 1:02 Which is exactly why he’s killed a family’s kid on more than one occasion and to say it again, and yeah, I get Blitzø seeing himself and Stolas in that family is what gets him to call it off, but that doesn’t make him any less of a hypocrite nor is it really character development unless he decides to shut down I.M.P. altogether.
@MarcoStrange
@MarcoStrange 10 күн бұрын
Would IMP have to shut down for you, or do you think it could exist if it meant making some changes to it like "no families" or something like that? I also think there's more they could do besides being assassins. Blitzo did save Fizz from Crimson, and kind of acted as security when they had the clown competition for Mammon.
@boydixonentertainment

I want to mention something about him, because theirs something I can relate to him that I admittedly had the same issue with him & it’s his black & white of thinking. You probably know that he’s had Autism, and it caused him to think what right or wrong according to him. I don’t know if you knew this since it’s easy to misunderstood him as being egotistical or narcissistic, but I can relate since I’m in the spectrum as well. And I feel like the reason why he didn’t continue watching it wasn’t because it was the breaking point but of his cognitive bias, if you don’t know what that means I’ll explain. It’s where your bias affect your logic of things & cause you to tune out or shut down important info, and for him experience the same abuse it was probably too much for him & made up his mind that he’s know the full conclusion of what he think the answer is (in which was his biggest mistake). Admittedly theirs time where I listen to things that I don’t like, and it caused my bias to fully consume me & ended it shortly without drawing a full conclusion. This is why I won’t be bashing on him or said something nasty to him, because I know that his intentions aren’t bad & he was trying to make a conclusion that match himself instead of accepting the actual conclusion. And I feel like that since he experienced similar abuse he felt like he’s the only one that know the answer (which is his second mistake), which I understand why he thought of that since many people who had autism will assume that they had the answer and don’t see either their own contradictions or flaws with their argument. Anyway I just wanted to said thank you for not being mean to him, because while it’s easy to do so it’s nice that you tried to understand him. This is why I worry on reviewing things in the future, because while I had passion into reviewing things I like. I’m worry that I can lured people into the wrong conclusion on accident due to being on the spectrum. (After all this isn’t the first time I saw this) (Sorry that it’s too long, I have a issue where I write too long if it something that I’m very interested in)

regardless of whatever criticism of the writing, i dont know if i can support the show anymore knowing that Vivzie willingly hired someone with a r@pe fetish to storyboard for her (and for the parts depicting angel's abuse? like what the hell?) and actively defends them online when people who are victims of that type of abuse have expressed that, obviously, that's a horrible thing to do. it's gross and the more i look at how Vivzie acts towards people and the way she writes certain characters or relationships, the more i realize that she just hasn't left middle school mentally or emotionally. it's really disappointing.
@MarcoStrange
@MarcoStrange 27 күн бұрын
I will say that while the storyboarder does have some things that I'm not particularly interested in, there is an interview they did talking about this and they do bring up the point that the scenes they did were all Viv's ideas. As you've said everyone goes through things in different ways. One type of abuse isn't how others experience it. One person may experience something and develop extreme unhealthy habits to cope and others may not. It doesn't lessen what you experienced just because you don't react the same way. It doesn't mean the story Angel has isn't something someone else hasn't gone through and is terrible representation. I literally follow a fan of the show who relates heavily to Angel Dust. To say he's a harmful stereotype or poor representation seems to belittle what that person went through.

The show is literally about being redeemed or getting help to stop certain habits. In a lot of cases like this, the person can relapse or not commit fully to it until they truly admit they have an issue. Angel seems to follow that path, but eventually after admitting he has a problem and getting a support system, he is finally improving. I've read a lot of fictional stories that follow the abuse into going hyper into bad habits so this doesn't really seem that different from those, and that author researched heavily so it's not like this is a bad take necessarily.

This clip was actually taken out of context. If you actually watch his review, his point is that in a movie set in 2002, an adult, that being Mei's mom, suspiciously sneaks around outside a school and no one bats an eye. Some A-hole went "I'm gonna take this autistic KZbinr's comments out of context and make him a laughing stock online!" and put the out-of-context clip on Twitter. Now I would like to explain a few things this video doesnt point out. Now I am being very civil about my comment, however I do want to address a few key points about this show alongside other un-mentioned behind the scenes. Firstly, at 2:14, he claims that hyper sexuality is portrayed negatively, however it clearly isn't in multiple episodes. In fact, it is played off as some kind of gag or joke. This is show when he takes them to the "BDSM Club" and makes multiple uncorrected jokes. Now I do agree with some of what Marco mentions at the stereotypes during 2:35, but gay hyper sexual stereotypes do in fact...well exists. The Irish guy stereotype though was just a joke. Honestly I cant defend that. This is actually a common stereotype- hyper sexuality- and instead of making Angel pan or bisexual, he HAD to be homo. Its not my place to say much else but it does dig LGBTQ into a deeper hole. 3:40 states kids shouldnt be on 18+ shows, but it clearly IS made for kids by the flashy colors, music, the fact that the characters explain whats going on when its going on, and the trashfire humor. In 5:36, we already talked about how hyper sexuality is portrayed. 807(Poison) and 9:31(coping mechanisms) I agree with. 10:45, if they really do want to make Angels situation more serious, why is he singing with husk about it? They both have different issues, but stringing it off of overlords is honestly (not lazy) but is kind of missing the point. Read my essay. Or dont.😭But please, at least dont ban my comment and be respectful as I do agree with multiple things Marco mentioned- however I would like to peacefully mention a few flaws. I would love input.

Ngl I agree with your take on this, the show isn’t glamorizing this unhealthy behavior, I’d actually say it’s putting that behavior more into depth because the “jokes” Linus talks about, ARE ANGEL DUST MASKING, when he has his breakdown in the show, that’s the mask falling away, see when people have unhealthy coping mechanisms like that they tend to mask it (either from something that was instilled into them by someone, or from unresolved trauma), literally everyone person I know (including myself) who’s developed unhealthy coping like this has formed some mask to downplay it and make it seem like it’s not as big a deal as it is. Hazbin Hotel is showing the fact that people may seem fine, but in reality there one harsh talk away from a mental breakdown. It’s raising awareness to these kinds of things as it should be, it shows people that while someone may seem fine, deep down their not and need help in some way.
@MarcoStrange

It does make me mad at Limus because they immediately call it a harmful stereotype. That could send the message that anyone relating to a character like Angel Dust is wrong to relate to them, and decides hiding their abuse is better than being what Limus calls a "harmful stereotype." Limus really doesn't realize the harm they're causing by calling Angel a harmful stereotype because they don't feel the need to take a deeper look in the series. Really sad that a series wants to show real abuse, and Limus automatically assumes a character being abused is glamourizing abuse. Isn't it funny they didn't bother explaining how the show glamorizes abuse? They just said it does and thought that was enough.

That right there is my biggest problem. People like Limus never think about stuff like this when they make comments like that. It really makes me disgusted that they'll say stuff like this and not think twice. I don't mean to question their status as a victim, but I have some serious questions how someone who claims to be a victim can just make a statement like that without thinking twice. And no, I don't care that they said at the end "well if you like Angel that's okay." That doesn't take away the complaints their made prior in their video.

@ no it’s understandable! I get why you question their status as a victim, ngl I kinda do too, like you can’t just claim your a victim and make a whole video showing that you haven’t faced any of this shit before. Like I have the scars to show what I went through (my unhealthy coping was skin picking and eyebrow plucking, and I have a lot of scars on my face from where I would pull off scabs) and I’m not saying that Linus should show photos of his scars or give proof, but if he really had suffered the same thing as Angel, he would have pointed out that Angel was masking by downplaying just how bad his unhealthy coping mechanism was.

Call me an idiot if I'm wrong...but I thought the fact that poison was so energetic despite the content was the entire point of the song. I thought it was supposed to show how Angel tried to hide behind a confident facade yet under the surface, he was genuinely hurting. And if Linus was complaining about the song being too energetic, I thought the end of the song did a great job showing Angel's facade breaking down.

I'm convinced Limus didn't watch the whole thing. I think they assumed the worst about it and thought there was nothing else worth seeing about it. Limus also never explains why Pumped Up Kicks is allowed to exist, but Poison shouldn't. Would really love it if they answered that. I won't hold my breath, though.

Except to a certain extent these are KZbin tv shows, and there’s no way Viv DOESNT know that most of her audience consists of edgy 13 year olds. I understand it was never intended to be for 13 year olds, but god knows she was also a teenager with unlimited access to the internet. She should know that she’s going to get kids watching her show. I’m obviously not saying she should’ve changed the entire mood of the show, but maybe handling certain topics irresponsibly (for example: trying to portray SA in a show that makes jokes about SA, and the obvious fetishization of gay men) isn’t the best option (in general, but especially when you KNOW stupid preteens are watching your show) It’s one of the things I actually really like about The Amazing Digital Circus. The creators clearly knew from the beginning that stupid kids were going to watch their show because it’s the 2020s, and it’s inevitable. So instead of just putting on a quick disclaimer that it’s not for kids (knowing full well that they won’t listen because what teen on the internet DID listen?) they slightly tweaked the world building to prevent inappropriate consequences. And these tweaks don’t damage the story in any way, so it can definitely be done. I’m not saying Viv has to cut out all the swears like TADC does, if parents don’t want their kids swearing then they should watch their kids. But since it’s basically impossible NOT to know her audience is mostly stupid 13 year olds…maybe fetishizing gay men (and joking about SA sometimes) isn’t the best decision? Because it teaches kids that this is okay. There’s a certain level of responsibility that comes with putting your work on a very public domain that Viv just…didn’t take into account. And I’m not saying she’s a bad person for it, but maybe a tad irresponsible. KZbin isn’t like a company where you can specifically market it towards a specific audience. If she didn’t know that before, she definitely should now. Also I’m pretty sure she’s in her 30s so there’s less of an excuse for her to handle these topics so irresponsibly than there would’ve been-like-a decade ago.
@MarcoStrange
@MarcoStrange Ай бұрын
So every creator should just take into account that what they make will eventually get in the hands of people who aren't supposed to be watching it? Shows like Bojack Horseman, Invincible, and South Park should all change despite the fact they make it clear they're for an older audience and not for kids? You're basically blaming Viv for making a show and not saying, "hey I should change my vision of the series I want to make cause eventually someone is not going to be a parent and let their kids watch it." It's the same reason parents were mad at Deadpool for being R rated, because they're not smart enough to actually look at the rating before letting their kids watch it. The rating whether you like it or not, is responsible. It's saying, "if you're not this age, then it's not for you and you shouldn't be watching it." Again, blaming her is stupid, because then you should be blaming anyone who's ever made anything for a mature audience in the past.

The only downside to what you’re saying is, Hazbin Hotel isn’t on KZbin. The original Pilot episode is, but the rest of the season is only available to watch on Prime Video. Meaning it’s not free to view to the world, only to people who use Amazon and have Prime Video accounts (that are paid for). Vivziepop’s other show, Helluva Boss, is available on KZbin, but this discussion is revolved around a character from Hazbin Hotel. Prime Video is a public domain but not to everyone in the same way KZbin is.

That’s not the point of their critique. The point is, don’t write a victim of abuse to be “sexy” or like a “fetish” because that’s what this comes off as. Watch a victim of SA from literally any other show like Devilman Crybaby. Where instead of a fun pop song musical with flashing lights, and moaning, there are painful moans echoing which makes the character come off as empathetic whether than objectifying. Even when some characters please themselves to cope with their trauma, they don’t moan, but rather groan in frustration maybe even hyperventilate or yell or on the verge of crying. I was horrified by the music video but not in the same way other SA scenes or “pleasuring self” scenes in other shows horrified me. I find this more upsetting with how Angel Dust was “sexualized” as he’s abused. It doesn’t help that Viv hired someone with a grape fetish. It feels more objectifying than empathetic. Maybe if Angel was groaning in pain or on the verge of crying and had to have drugs forced down his throat to “feel good”, that would actually be more upsetting than a fun pop musical. The fact that people accuse us of saying Angel isn’t a “good victim” is honestly disgusting and people just don’t seem to understand any of the points we try to make. We don’t expect Angel to be a “good boy” just better written with respect. And victim or not, it doesn’t give him a free pass for sexual harassment towards Husk or anyone and he would deserve to be called out on that. And he should know the feeling isn’t pleasant. Pilot Angel Dust only used s** jokes to throw off Sir Pentious because he knew it made people uncomfortable. That was funny. And not all of his jokes were X jokes. It’s one thing to be hypersexual which happens to 20% of SA victims which is understandable. But it doesn’t give him a free pass to SH someone like Husk especially when he uses those tactics to throw off Sir Pentious. It’s fine if he was flirtatious and acts all seductive but no still means no. And if Husk feels uncomfortable and tells him to stop, then he needs to stop. Angle can still understand boundaries because he’s crossed them in order to throw off his opponents. He should still know better. He doesn’t have to be a “good boy”, he doesn’t have to be “perfect”, but he needs to know some boundaries and understand that when he makes people he likes uncomfortable, to back off and written with respect instead of some XXX icon. If people say, “he’s hypersexual and can’t help it” well I guess you can say the same about his abuser (who I can’t tell if I should take seriously or as a joke).

@@MarcoStrangeflaws are welcomed but they also must be acknowledged. I don’t want characters “perfect”. I want them written with respect. Part of that respect is to acknowledge the flaws to build up the character. Yes everyone has flaws, accepting imperfections is part of being human. It’s the disrespect with the character I can’t stand. Flaws need to be acknowledged honestly, directly and with focus on learning how to improve and take responsibility for your actions and without excuses or minimizing their impact. No one is above criticism. And saying “people are allowed to have flaws” is an excuse to avoid improvement of one’s behavior and owning up to their mistakes. Yes nobody is perfect, but it’s how we focus on our growth when acknowledging our flaws that’s important.

@ ah yes. How dare the musical show have a number about an abuse victim struggling to leave their abuser that isn’t overtly sad or depressed. Never mind all the scenes where Angel Dust is visibly uncomfortable or using unhealthy coping mechanisms, or all the real life victims that are taught what happened to them was okay. It’s almost like abuse is a complex issue that messes with how someone perceives themselves, their worth, and what interactions are considered okay. Wild, I know. Angel Dust doesn’t need to be the world’s bestest person. He’s in *Hell.* Sinners aren’t *supposed* to all be amazing people. He’s flawed. He’s a victim who is struggling. Does that excuse what happened to him as okay? No. Does that mean him doing it is okay? No. But he is a character who is **meant to be flawed because he’s a sinner.** He’s in Hell for a reason. You can’t have character growth if the person starts off with no flaws.

@TheUnmitigatedDawn that was another reason I brought up them being a victim. I did have a concern people would bring this up, so I made a comment to say "my critiques in no way are meant to say they're not really a victim" Thats also why I did my own research like about Angel Dust being hypersexual. While I heard that it was a thing that can happen to victims, I wanted to make sure it was sourced instead of saying "I heard other people say this instead" I'll also admit Limus did make me mad with their video. I do think it's bad to say Loser Baby doesn't work because Angel and Dusk are so different. However, I knew insulting Limus wouldn't get my point across on why I disliked it.

@@tiawolf3610 I'm happy to hear that. Honestly in my initial script I was more mean and a couple of good people told me "hey you need to focus more on praising Angel cause thay should be the focus" and they were right. I don't know if Limus did research, but it does come off like they didn't. I admit I walked in not knowing certain things, which was why I did try my best to at least learn more before commenting kn anything. I still believe the worst thing was him trying to say Angel and Husk can't relate to each other. That just sends the message you should be more closed off to people unless they're going through the exact same thing, which would only hurt victims cause they wont open up to others. I really wish Limus would have thought of that before saying it. I am happy to hear my video had that impact on you, and hope you stay around to see more of my videos in the future.
