I am not always a fan of AI (understatement here) but I do recognize I like how it enables one to get a more vivid idea of how it could feel like, back in the day. I appreciate your efforts, especially with the genealogy research and the personalized maps, which give us more proximity with the protagonists of the story. Now there are a couple of things I wanted to address for this particular episode: -I think the quote about the 'scrawny little fellow' is from Mary, not Emma. -Also, unless Dyer had a circus, which I really doubt, I think the TIGER in question is simply the nickname of the times for Faro. Neighborhoods with several gambling halls with Faro dealers were called Tiger Town, or Tiger Alley. The reason for this was that the early card backs had a Bengal Tiger drawn on them. Playing Faro was called 'bucking the tiger'. The lost finger comment may simply be one example of the tongue-in-cheek, pun-loving writing style of many journalists of the era, if we think of the meaning of 'hand' when talking about card games.
@HistoricallyCorrectКүн бұрын
I appreciate your reply. As for the Quote, "'scrawny little fellow' is from Mary, not Emma." You very well might be right. In fact, I can't even locate where I placed that information to check.. Guess I'm getting inundated with filed and folders on my desk top. lol. As far as the Dyer and owning a real Tiger, your conjecture is enlightening yet unsubstantiated. You could be correct as well. I would like to think he was an eccentric man. "Tom Mullett, " loosing his index finger I found out this morning from reading the June Herald 1875 was a blacksmith in Silver City. Not that that has any bearings one way or the other. Just nice to put a face or occupation with a name... Thanks for the new thoughts on "Tiger"

@@HistoricallyCorrect I know the flooding feeling 🙂Putting a face on those characters is what I love most. You can find a few articles online that will explain the Faro/Tiger connection, which, like you, I cannot locate right now. One last thing I forgot to mention, I for one believe in the possibility of Billy being inspired by the she-pirate... Have fun on your Billy journey, like so many of us do!🐯

This could have been more historically accurate. A few things stated were a bit inaccurate. There was a lifeboat drill before Titanic left Southsmpton. The Californian was trapped by ice and unlikely to bee the ship that could have come to her aid. Mr. Ismay had some influence but the Captain made the big decisions on speed. Captain EJ Smith was from Stoke on Trent originally so he would have had a different English accent from the Midlands from England. I wish that would be researched further and changed to the correct regional idiom.

I was born and raised in SW Louisiana (Starks), graduated from Port Neches-Groves High School (Texas), and now living in Melissa, Texas! Recently, I was seriously ill with COVID, pneumonia, and strep throat! But, even at 84 years old, I have completely recovered, thanks to God and all the prayers from my family and friends! Of course, the illness resulted in huge medical bills that I am successfully recovering from! Fact: Billy the Kid's dad died in Wyoming and his mother died in Colorado! The purpose of my post is to encourage the real Billy the Kid followers to get a copy of my new book on the real boyhood life of Billy! The book, 'The Real Billy the Kid Revealed', contains new information on Billy's real origins and family, and his life before his arrival in Silver City, NM in 1873! Keep in mind, the book also proves John Miller and Brushy Bill were imposters! There have been many great books written over the years that contain facts on his experiences after his departure from Silver City in 1875, but my book contains information on his early years in life before that!! My book can be acquired online from many book dealers! It can be bought through Amazon at: a.co/d/aGQFLbN Or, through Barnes and Noble at: www.barnesandnoble.com/w/the-real-billy-the-kid-revealed-jim-johnson/1142746814?ean=2940185742280 There are many other book dealers out there that carry the book! -------------------------------------------- ** After reading the book, please leave an honest star rating and, if desired, write a review! @@NewMexicoCountrySongs The character seen in the famous portrait at the Louvre is not that of Lisa del Giocondo or Mona Lisa, but that of Isabelle d'Aragon and Sforza, the daughter of the King of Naples Alphonse II d'Aragon. Isabelle married her cousin Gian Galeazzo Sforza, the heir to the Duchy of Milan, to consolidate the ties between the Kingdom of Naples and the Duchy of Milan. So, it is the portrait of a princess and not a commoner. Leonardo da Vinci was at that time in the service of Ludovico Sforza, the uncle of Gian Galeazzo who exercised regency at the court of Milan. Isabelle's young husband disappeared prematurely at the age of 25 without being able to exercise power, allegedly assassinated on the orders of his uncle. German historian Maike Vogt-Luerssen tells us that after her widowhood, Isabelle and Leonardo formed a secret couple and had 5 children. Therefore, it was his beloved's portrait that Leonardo da Vinci painted, which explains why he took it to Amboise in France and kept it until the end of his life, like keeping a family photo nowadays. There was thus an emotional connection with Isabelle that did not exist with Lisa del Giocondo, whose portrait was only a commission. The research I myself have done on the landscape indicates that it is based on an authentic location, which would confirm Maike Vogt-Luerssen's theory, as it undoubtedly pays homage to Isabelle d'Aragon's family origins. It seems obvious to me that the identity of the character in this portrait has been confused between an actually received commission, that of the silk merchant's wife, and the portrait of Leonardo's partner, which is the one seen today at the Louvre. All of this is probably now well known to the so-called specialists of Leonardo da Vinci, who do not want to acknowledge the inconsistencies of the official version because they have spent their entire lives defending a version they now know to be outdated. As Mark Twain said, "It is easier to fool people than to convince them that they have been fooled." www.kleio.org/de/geschichte/renaissance/monalisa/ml_fakten/ www.equinoxmagazine.fr/2021/11/28/la-joconde-serait-catalane/
