With the exception of all the round shanked drill bits (I can personally attest to the difficulty in acquiring square taper shanked Forstner bits - but it can be done), I do believe Studley would approve of this chest and feel at home with all the vintage tools. You have given me inspiration for my own tool storage (similarly comprised of vintage hand tools)

What liquid did you use to clean the wood. It really made it look great.
@woodtransformer8 күн бұрын
Hello! I'll give you a tip that can help you a lot. 1) Always test in smaller places before applying to the entire surface; 2) You can clean with neutral soap diluted in water and finish with liquid wax; 3) You can clean with mineral oil, brush and finish with a soft fabric; 4) You can clean only with a harder brush and finish with wax and paste and polish later....that’s all! Thanks for the message!

Incredible job! Thanks for sharing the whole process, including the woodworking. Really inspiring craftsmanship! I'm repairing my old Black Forest cuckoo clock from my mother that fell a few years ago. The inside is similar to yours, but mine has leaves on the sides and a bird on top. I really love shiny wood, so after gluing the broken parts, I want to restore the shine, maybe add a little extra shine? Not too much of course. I’ve tried to find out what products for this are compatible even contacted some Black Forest clockmakers, but they’re a bit secretive. The house itself is painted brown, hiding the wood grain, just like yours in the video. I noticed your product removes the paint and adds a nice shine at the same time. I’d also like to add green, yellow, white, and red dots to the leaves on the front woodwork, like some clocks have. This is where I want to go for: drive.google.com/file/d/1jemuufvobYR2HJ8n8Jvotf-cjVwMHLrI/view?usp=sharing Do you have tips on which products I could use for this?

@@woodtransformer I bought this gem at a yard sale for 20 dollars and couldn't bear the time it would take to locate, order, and wait for impossibly slow shipping all the way to rural Kentucky so I improvised. Someday, when the old McMuffin paper fails, I'll fix it up the correct way. But in the meantime I'm rather enjoying my McCuckoo clock! 🤣 I have since gotten a second one that is much smaller and not as grand in any way, but everything is intact except for no pendulum. Any ideas on what to do? Im not sure how to even guess what size pendulum or if it matters or how to make a new one? Any advice would be appreciated. It's a very simple, seemingly cheap clock that I think cuckoos once every 15 minutes. I has one small weight and chain. No door for the bird, either, unfortunately. My favorite part is the bird busting thru the door lol this clock is very small, also, but I just love them all regardless of value or grandiosity. I was so excited I didn't even realize the pendulum part was missing.

Kkkkkk MCcuckoo, MCcuckoo.... when I don't know how much weight it is, I use a small bag and I add small fishing leads. Until the clock works non-stop and the time is within a normality. As soon as you get this first sweet part you can adjust the height of the pendulum, delaying (moving down) or accelerating (moving up). It's ok? Thanks for your patience! @ryansgirl2002
