Disappointing that two of the three intro people state that they chose to be a nurse as a quicker alternative to what their real educational goal was. You felt you weren't smart enough to do medical school and your family wanted you to be a dentist, so you settled on a practical job of nursing. That potentiates a pervasive and inaccurate stereotype that male nurses chose the field because they can't hack it in real medical specialties. As a CRNA student who used to be an ICU RN I hope to see responses from other male nurses that lift up the field and inspire others to follow in their footsteps. The world needs more awesome male nurses and not ones who just "couldn't make it" in a doctorate program.

Peace be to you all! I really enjoyed watching this video. I'm SO happy to see more men in nursing. I was a CNA for several years whilst attending RN and later, Physician Assistant school. I have been working as a medically licensed Physician Assistant in Washington, DC for the past 15 years and very closely with RN s (a couple of LPN s). Yeah, you've kind of get used to the funny looks. I was in nursing school back in the early 90's whilst working as a full-time CNA. What I couldn't understand is SOME people equating a man being a nurse with his sexual orientation 😡😠. "SOooo...you're a nurse...hmmm...sooo...are you, like, you know....gay?"😅 I REALLY enjoyed nursing though. It's a VERY tough major, AND a tough job. Do you plan on becoming an NP? Murse = Male Nurse...Scrubs! I work at a hospital in a non medical capacity and most of the male nurses are in the E.R.but I am sure it's different at every hospital.

Zero math classes are required at most medical schools. This guy must have really sucked at math if he can't understand the concept of zero.

TheMoeQ7 Perhaps this is the case this cycle, but 2-3+ cycles ago it was zero for most schools and the ones that did allowed statistics. I think only Hopkins and some Texas schools had calc 1 requirements.

+CitizenofDystopia My buddy is in med school and he had to go thru a lot of Calculus, idk what you're talking about pal. Overall the discipline is focused much more of natural sciences than mathematics, but strong math is a MUST.

Feraidun Haroon An off story about your buddy is meaningless. As someone that is in medical school I don't need to have "someone that knows someone" tell me what is true of what I live on a day to day basis. Strong math is NOT a "must." Enough math to be able to do general chemistry and trigonometry based physics is all you need to get into medical school. In medical school itself there has not been a single instance where I even remotely needed to use calculus, so calculus is useless.

Hi RN scrub! I learned how to do pelvic exams from group of female nurses who visit allied health schools. They actually use THEMSELVES as the live models!😨It was VERY awkward for me at first. However, their instructions were so good, it was much more of a clinical class than anything. I really appreciate them because my FIRST clinical rotation was in ObGyn. Great video! The L&D thing was really funny. Being a male nurse is awesome. After being in healthcare for many many years I've realized that nursing is the most important job there is. Even more so than the Doctors who know less than you do about the specific patient. No disrespect to Doctors, they have it hard too. Props to you all, especially the male nurses.

I know what you mean. I actually work VERY closely with nurses. They practically RUN the ICU. I am honestly in awe of the experienced nurses who can run codes and manage very ill patients. The doctors are not in the hospital too often (where I work anyway). It's really the exceptional nursing staff that "nurse" the patients back to health. I find, I have more of a colleague relationship with the nurses, even though I'm the one writing orders in the chart. I did a video interview with a Murse in NICU. My name is Jay, I am a nurse from Nashville, TN. And, I am getting ready to move Saudi Arabia to work at a hospital over there. I’m going for the money I signed a two years deal earning three times my normal salary. The problem is that I am a gay man, being gay is illegal in Saudi Arabia. So does anyone have any advice?

Are you really going to work there? I have always heard they will not let men work as RN'S in the middle east. Male Respiratory therapist and Rad techs are allowed but not male nurses. Unless things have changed..if that's the case good luck. Keep to yourself and you'll be fine man.
