In the video, or when I clean this filter, I always fill the canister up to the top with water from the fish tank (never tap water that hasn't been treated) to remove the air volume in the canister before connecting to tank. I usually do this in a sink, with the canister full of water open the outlet valve and put the top of the canister on, some water will spill out and come out of the hose. Then close the valve and connect to tank. Once connected to tank, open all valves, you may have to prime the air out of the inlet hoses by using suction on the outlet tube that returns to tank. I took a suction bulb from my gravel vac and put it on the outlet tube to suck the water though. Hope this helps and thanks for watching.

The weirdest canister filling I have ever seen. No media bags, improper rinsing, filling up with water while loading with media to prime the pump? lol. Adding drops of Stability while putting layers together? It's your canister! lol

Hey, I agree Shawn. Question I’m looking on here how to start the filter I cleaned out the EH 600 water and I can’t seem to get the filter going and I supposed to turn one on “open” and the other one for a minute while it fill the canister up?

@@starrfishhill If your canister is empty, I make sure all valves are open, remove the spray bar in the tank and use my mouth to start a siphon. It quickly fills up and you're done!

Hey I have media bags now. I filled the filter up to prime it with tank water that way to empty the air out of there. Stability is for bacteria establishment in the media since it was a new filter. Havent had a issue and its been running for 8 years. Been a really good filter. What is the concern? Thanks for viewing.

@@Shawn-ky2tw You can also use the end of the gravel vac bulb to prime as not to have to use your mouth on there. Cheers

@@starrfishhill Hey that is why I primed the filter and filled it with tank water, removing all the air in the filter. Once installed in tank, I used suction on the outlet tube and it takes a bit but eventually will prime. Also can use the blue bulb from a gravel vac and suction on the end to get prime.

hi how is the canister? did you experience any leak or problems?

No, no leaks, been running this setup for about 8 years now without issue. I have added a 2215 running with a skimmer for better surface aeration since this project turned into a discus tank and thinned out some of the plants. 2217 and 2215 both solid filters. I have done some maint. on the 2217 and always check o-rings and clamps after cleaning the filter. No issues.

Should put the media in bags so you could rinse and put in canister much easier. Save you time cleaning later when you do the filter maintenance.

Thanks for viewing, you have the intek single cylinder as well and are you going to rebuild or get a new engine? I was on the fence but the block was still ok so rebuild still running good. Im at around 270 hours now and runs good no oil burn either.

Awesome 1st vid!! That was fun!! Sucks it happened but glad you are able to fix it.. That was some serious carnage!! You don't see that happen to much.. I bet it made a "funny noise" when it happened 😬.. I can't believe the block didn't take a hit.. That cylinder wall is mint... can't wait for more keep um coming 👍

Thanks, yeah it was worth it to try and fix since the block wasn't cracked, got lucky it didn't bend the rod. The weird thing is I maintain and take care of my stuff, it made a brief clank and then there was some smoke. Check the rebuild video part 2, shes back together and so far no issues. Thanks for viewing.
