Looks like an awesome first bike tour! Seems like you might be hooked! It's good to go for a one or two night trip to shake out the bugs like you did. My first bike tour was just a 35 km (70 km round trip) overnighter from Edmonton, Canada in Sept. of 2021. Once I knew I liked doing it, I went for a 350 km tour in 2022, then 1,200 km in 2023 and 2,100 km in 2024. Now planning a 3,100 km tour this summer. Would eventually like to do a cross-Canada tour, which would be about 9,000 km. There is literally no limit to how far you can go on a bike tour. Safe travels!

Happy New Year. If your wondering about climbing hills. Priority Apollos with rear hub. It's only 409% gear range Alfine 11 speed internal hub. Internal ratio is 0.52 to 2.15. As stock bike it has 50 tooth crank and 26 rear cog. Belt drive. That's at best 28 to 29 gear inches climbing. That is pretty high for climbing hills. Could get to at least 24 gear inches changing cogs. Preferred bike touring be 16-20 gear inches climbing with gear. See if you could get a front crank of 42 tooth and rear cog of 30 teeth...or similar. But would need a different belt. Changing rear cog size different than stock 26 tooth cog may not have enough wheel adjustment though. Check with a bike shop if climbing hills is a problem.
@BethandRyanArceneaux-team9855 күн бұрын
@@pppjourneyonabike5992 Happy New Year to you as well. Thanks for the comment and info. We did a great deal of research prior to purchasing the Apollos and feel the gearing is perfect for most areas we ride. Agree, if we took an out of state ride fully packed with gear we would need to at least replace our front ring to get over tougher climbs. We run 28 & 30 cassettes on our road bikes and haven’t had hill climbing issues so far. We will probably purchase the front rings just in case as we hope to take a touring trip soon. I really enjoyed your video and shared it with my husband. Loaded bike touring is the best! We did a lot when we were younger, all around the US, as well as a cross country ride (Loaded with our gear). Just want to share some observations and ideas. Can't tell if you have headlights, but definitely a great idea for rainy, foggy days. I think you might be doing this, but always use hand signals for turning and stopping and passing each other. I saw you pointing out debris to each other as you rode, which is great! . Awesome job. To stay balanced, load on both sides of your front wheel. When climbing go into low or granny gear...it looked like Beth was in a higher gear. You might consider Thermarest or other self inflating sleeping pads. Do you know about the organization Adventure Cycling? If not, definitely check them out! Will definitely check into your bikes, too! Great video and I am subscribing! Be well, be safe!

I plan on leaving here from Oregon later this year or early next year and riding my rig down thru South America. The blacktail hotel 3 packs small so it doesn't feel like 7lbs. The whole thing packed will fit in a handle bar rack, comfortably between the handle bar hoods. @@cecilelevert4003 thanks for watching Farmers burn cane fields, specifically sugarcane fields, before harvest to remove the dried leaves and tops of the plant, leaving only the sugar-bearing stalk ready for harvesting, which makes processing more efficient, reduces the amount of material that needs to be transported, and ultimately lowers production costs for the farmer; however, this practice is often criticized due to its environmental impact, causing air pollution from the smoke produced.
