I think, end it before launch globally is a mistake. Warframe I play a lot, started small with thousands of problems AND nowadays is one of the moust popular across all platforms. Tenocon 2024 had 300k concurrent viewers on Twitch. Steam only it has at minimum 40k concurrent players, with all platforms it easily maitain 100k concurrent players minimum. The problem is that companies want to have instant success AAA, money farm. They don't want to do like Warframe and No Man Sky ... Listen the players and improve.

Its over ... Only Chinese games and Indie will trieve. Guenshin, Palworld, Baldurs... BM Wokong, the moust played simultaneously on Steam while the latest Sony game don't reach 300 players because it's the moust generic game people ever seen. Diablo 4 is horrendously repetitive. Now Bandai don't even launch Globally a Game and shut it down.

The things Asmongold can't understand genuinely amaze me. Comparing MMORPGs with games of other genres is incorrect not because they are not entertaining games, but because these entertaining games are made for DIFFERENT groups of players. It's like if a clone of CS GO in anime style suddenly comes out and this game has better animations, then Asmongold will seriously say that the animations in Blue Protocol are worse and the game as a whole is bad. My God. When a person compares the animation of shaking boobs in a solo gacha game with the animation in an MMORPG, everyone will immediately look at him like he's crazy. I don't care how this or that game looks in comparison to Blue Protocol. I'm not interested in games for casino lovers. If you want to compare games, compare MMORPGs with MMORPGs. Otherwise, I suggest comparing GTA 5 with NTE, but my comparison will be much more honest than yours, because both games are solo grind hell. And as for the closure of the Blue Protocol itself - this is a huge loss for the entire MMORPG community, especially for the caste that loves anime style. The game developed and with each patch it became better and better. I will write the last take if you missed the previous ones. Blue Protocol is a game that was waited for by people who FIRST OF ALL love MMORPGs and anime style. Between a gacha game and an MMORPG there is simply an incomparable gap in player cooperation, dungeons, raid bosses, GUILD content, socialization, and then it depends on the MMORPG itself. A gacha game will NEVER be able to REPLACE a full-fledged MMORPG. And the people who were waiting for the Blue Protocol (or some part of them) spat in the face of all gacha games. You have to hear it to understand. We don't care how much the anime boobs shake in a game where the entire gameplay consists of switching characters and spamming the left mouse button. Many people are tired of waiting for good MMORPGs and find solace in gacha games at least temporarily until a full-fledged quality MMORPG comes out. But there are people who do not want to play solo casino games and you should respect this, as well as stop imposing your worthless opinion.

I'm still kind of amazed at the people who stuck with games like BP or PSO2 until now. As far as I can tell the only appeal they have over any other MMO are the anime aesthetics. Correct me if im wrong but what other possible reason would you have to play this game over something like XIV/WoW/GW2 or OSRS if you want to play an MMO.

Sorry to the fans but no amount of copium will ever revive this game (your only hope is to play the Tencent version if that ever comes out). Even Kiara was not impressed when she streamed the game 2 days ago and Asmon is not impressed as well. Ok, let's ignore them both and let's focus on the Japanese market, and what does the Japanese playerbase even think about the game? As was confirmed by the developers themselves (you can google the interview yourself if you're curious), JP players found the game to be mediocre with tons of issues, to the point where most of them have quit the game, and according to the interview, devs planned to fix all critical issues in order to bring those players back. Obviously they were so slow in fixing the issues because of their lack of experience in developing MMO games. The game director should have been fired after that legendary disastrous livestream and replaced with a more experienced game director, and they should also ask for help within the Bandai Namco Studios to bring in more help from their veteran developers (so that they fix the issues quickly and they can quickly response to any bugs and release a patch). My takeaway from this and why is Asmon comparing MMO vs other genres is that all games are ENTERTAINMENT, and they all COMPETE FOR YOUR TIME. MMOs, single-player games, and live-service/gacha games doesn't matter what genre they are all entertainment. The average person can only play so much, and they tend to pick up what they think are the best games out there. Also, one aspect of game development that no one even brings up in the conversation is what type of company is running your favorite games. Bandai Namco Holdings, Sega Sammy Holdings, Square-Enix Holdings, etc. are publicly traded companies; they have a legal obligation to make profit for their shareholders, and the shareholders want their ROI in the short term. If a game is not making any profit in 1 year, then they will pull the plug (unless the producer can convince his bosses). Public companies tend to not take major risk hence why they pulling the plug now instead of going the route of FFXIV or No Man's Sky or the less successful game, which is on a downward spiral in global and is only surviving thanks to JP bros., PSO2NGS V2.0. Then you have indie game developers like Hoyoverse, who is featured in this video, btw, hence why I'm mentioning them here. They are privately owned company, meaning they have no shareholders breathing down their necks. They develop and self-publish all their games worldwide so they don't have to share their profits. And because of their company structure, the higher-ups don't have any qualms about reinvesting a huge portion of their revenue to create content for all their games. For example, the 4-year-old game Genshin Impact's has a 6-week content cycle in 4 different voiced languages (EN/JP/KR/CN). We can argue about the quality all day, and that is subjective anyway, but the point of this is that unlike PVP games (battle royale, shooters, etc.) where the community can create "the" content themselves, in games like Genshin and Zenless Zone Zero, it relies on being a single player, and they have to constantly feed the machine to keep it running smoothly so that the playerbase is sustained and they keep coming back. This is only possible because the company is private and to be fair, it also helps that Genshin makes billion every year, and their latest game Zenless Zone Zero made an estimate of $300-350 million in just 1 month of its release. There was a report that the Genshin's budget is $200 million every year (including marketing), but the source is from a Redditor LMAO which I don't believe anyway. The engine, which is a custom Unity engine (btw Hoyoverse is a major shareholders in Unity China and they are partnered with Unity Global) is already polished and ironed out before the game even releases so that content delivery such as DLC and or expansion is delivered smoothly (unlike Halo Infinite where they couldn't even deliver content because it breaks the UI iirc). Not to mention that most of the in-game assets are already created, and if developers need more assets for future expansion, they can easily repurpose existing assets to create brand-new assets, saving tons of resources. And the most important part is that developers get more experience and become more efficient. My point is that the longer Genshin is run, the less expensive it gets.

Region locked in 2023 2024, I dont know who idea is this but I guess is Amazon, if people can play outside of Japan, nobody will play Amazon global release, thats my guess. Unfortunately Japan is not like China has millions and millions of player even tho they region lock and still survived. Back in early this year I looked up twitch and the BP viewers is like 60, I dont believe the game is eating good with only 60 viewers, thats like Concord level of dying, there are a lots of player logged back in after they heard the EOS, not because the game is popular

Twitch isnt really great for measuring popularity, even then Concord never even lived, BP at most was consistently in the low thousands (2k or so) but Concord didn't even manage that. So if anything, BP did live decently if only for a short bit before they started pulling the plug.

@@Lord_Maraptor I believe if player outside of Japan can still play the game without region locked, people would still be interested, live decently for a short bit couldnt save the it, live service game need constant money flow. Amazon could at least enforce the region locked after they release the global version instead of like Day 3, first few days me and my friends actually played it and enjoyed it. I saw quite a lot of Taiwan streamer liked it and spend in the game as well, and then the region lock came in. I know twitch viewer isnt a direct reflect on how popular the game is, but when there are no viewers, content creator or streamer probably wont care for the game, they would rather jump to other hype train, then it get lesser exposure and lesser popular. I dont believe a game that has 100k concurrent players will only have 100 viewers on twitch if you know what im trying to say

If there's one definition of "too flashy", it would be Black Desert Online's combat. BP had a lot of potential; it's just another case of clueless execs and divisions lacking the required aptitude and skill to pull off something like an mmorpg. Games are not merely assets, creating them nowadays is the easiest part of development. In case of mmos, it's the backend that is truly important and BP failed at that tremendously. In case of Bandai Namco (Bandai Holdings, to be precise, which Online is a part of), it's mind boggling to see such a corporation being incapable of producing a single working online title that attracts more than a superniche hardcore audience. Yet another failed attempt at a modern mmorpg going to the graveyard. What a waste of time, effort and money.

Even if the game is mediocre. I don't think it's that bad to the point to shut it down. That's just a very scummy move from Bamco (online). A lot of people are still very excited to play the game (excluding those Reddit doomposters). A HololiveEN vtuber, Kiara did a stream on BP after they announced the EOS and there're plenty of people (including JP players) following her in-game, to the point that her stream became laggy cuz of it. I understand that the outcome of the financial report last year was probably one major reason why they decided to shutdown the game. But isn't it too soon? The game isn't even 1 and half a year in service, and they haven't even present the game to global audience yet. Anyway, thanks for the video. It's sad that one of the rare anime MMO I've waited for so long to play, would be dead next year... I think I'll hop in NTE train for now. My opinion might be worthless because I never got to play it, but, to me, BP looks much better visually than any of these gacha games. Okay, you can drive a car through generic, low detail streets? I don't get it; it still has that gacha mobile look and uninspired art style. Maybe BP has copy-paste environments, but the game looked better. Maybe it didn't have enough content as well ― just basing it on what people were saying ― but gacha games have no content. I play Genshin because I have mental issues (sunk cost/time), but there is actually nothing to do. You explore a little bit doing the same 3 minigames/puzzles every new expansion. I feel like using gacha games to criticize BP is not it.

The cope is real, my lord. I hate Genshin, like quite literally do not care for it, but it takes like... 5 minutes of googling to see it very clearly has a lot of content baked into it lol. I looked for a bit, and from what I can tell you have hundreds of hours of story content, hundreds of hours of exploration content, new and old "events" that feature either a unique storyline, unique game mode, or standalone area, and a constantly refreshing endgame mode. And that's just an outsider looking in via Google and YT lmfao, a proper player could probably name more things. How is this no content?

@@acupoflatte8594 Why are you trying to tell me whether or not Genshin has content when you don't play it and I do? The "constantly refreshing endgame mode" is just a twice a month DPS check you clear in 10 minutes. When someone says "no content" you should try to read between the lines. It doesn't mean that you have nothing to do at all, sometimes it means that there is no meaningful content, or that the content is repetitive without being rewarding.

The fact you said you need that to make BP feel good is horrible. An screenshots is like literally the worst point you could have brought up when he was talking about all the loading screens.
