Some notes -we added a tubing option to make it more appealing to families -it has added the ability to add mostly older clients to the mix and extend the season for foliage cruises and lake tours without watersports -it’s low maintenance, easy to run, easier to staff -it’s bills out less then our watersports boats and is still not as popular as our watersports boat. Good insurance question I suppose. I’m sure there is a legit way to do it. Id just be sure I trusted the operator that would be leasing out my equipment to keep it in good shape given the extra wear and tear of rentals, sounds like it could be a win-win with the right partnership though

Pretty well. I like to have one as we can take larger crews, extend the season with fall foliage cruises & run with 1 crew member in general. Our watersports boats definitely bill out more $ per season. Almost double the amount our pontoon bills out.

I have a wakeshaper + installed ballast. Most of the people we get are beginners who really aren’t at the level where they would benefit a much newer style surf wave but if we do get more advanced riders we can tune things in to make it work. I wouldn’t let an older boat deter you from starting, just be sure to provide an awesome overall experience

@@loganweaver6209 pro star as in direct drive with engine in the middle? If your main priority is surfing you may want to look into something with v drive setup. Keep the motor in the back for weight plus more room for passengers + additional ballast as compared to a prostar traditional ski boat

Ive been using checkfront for my watersports business. Fareharbor is also another one.

Will depend on where you are located. Jet skis can be tough since I don’t think Boatsetter insurance will cover it. If you look at my insurance video you’ll see info for Bruce Woods with southern cross agency. He’s a great resource to ask about insurance coverage and go over your business plan!

Ballast bags fill with water and weigh down the boat. This crates a larger wake for wakesurfing & wakeboarding which makes it easier to surf the wake or get more air when jumping the wake!

If you check out my insurance video you’ll see more about that! Bruce woods with southern cross agency handles my insurance and helps with that part!

Everyone’s resources are going to be different doing into it! I started with a 15k maristar that I worked on for a couple years using it as my personal boat before I started the business! My second boat I bought for $6500 and got a really good deal on it. If I had the means to start out with new boats it would be nice and take some stress away but it’s also nice knowing that I don’t owe anything for these boats. Especially when payroll, tax bills, and the off-season come around. I started with 1 boat, season 2 got a second, season 3 jumped up to 4, and now I’m focusing on maximizing bookings with 3 boats and lowering my operating expenses a bit.
