Another aspect that wasn’t mentioned in the video or the comment section is that people test decks all the time on Duelingbook especially. Very rarely are people grinding decks that are proven in the meta game. Maybe 1-2 cards different here and there. That can heavily skew data as well. Another factor is that people will often drop out of a game due to life obligations even if they are in a winning position especially against slow players or hostage players who do not want to advance the board state because they believe their ruling to be right when there’s no admins online. At the end of the day, win rates on Duelingbook do not matter much. There’s really no good way to measure relative skill in a card game due to variance , probabilities, and all the other reasons given. There’s even some instances where doing the correct play gives you the loss and doing the risky play gives you the win. Yugioh as a whole rewards players that play exclusively with high powered and consistent decks, who travel to every event, and exploit time rules, rule shark relentlessly, and even (dare I say, cheat). And people will associate the players that win an event with the player with the highest skill. Just how it is. (Disclaimer: I do not think that every player that wins big events are cheaters. Please do not misconstrue my message! Thank you! I’m saying that the game rewards them as to confuse them with being skillful.)

Like someone mentioned the issue is that wins and losses dont reset. I dont play much and I have 75÷ in 200 games total since ladder dropped. However what happens is that I start playing mid season with 100 rating and play vs noobs, but when I get higher up I can feel I dont win 7 out of 10 necessarily anymore. the more games you play naturally your win rate should decrease unless youre that good and even when playing the best you score a high win rate. The ladder does reflect those people who consistently are too 10 with high win rates and alt accounts, not necessarily with thousands of games

The one thing that I think is flawed about this statistic is that winrate is recorded as "lifetime" not for the current season, so it doesnt take into account if players improved a lot over time.

how can you grind elo? you definitely can't grind elo in chess (it 'tapers off' as you say). The whole point is that elo is just winrate times opponent skill. If the 200th best player has 45% win rate it means they keep playing the 150th best player or w/e.

I believe the Simoon, Vata, Sudri version provides better interuptions with Dis Patter, Black Winged Assault dragon to burn opponent’s LP, Chaos Angel and also Gimmick Puppet fantasix + Cxyz Gimmick Puppet + Beelze + Assault to Ftk/otk are better options nowadays. the thing that really gets me thinking is that it's obvious that everyone is talking about the machine control player, he was the only player I had problems with in the 8 rounds. the most curious thing is that precisely because of the decision of an Italian judge, I lost a game against him even though I was right on the ruling. I also appealed to the head judge who also gave me a negative answer even though I was right on the ruling. in the end I won 2 to 1 even though I was right about the ruling. in practice I would have won 3-0 against him. I don't even know why everyone is talking about him. we wouldn't have reached the end of time if they hadn't given me a wrong ruling. I would have won 2-0 very quickly. at the end of the match the 2 judges came to apologize to me for having made the mistake with the ruling.
