I think you must be using a feedback type controller, or even worse one of the Hornby monstrosities. Either will in the long term damage the motor. Can I suggest a Gaugemaster COMBI, or similar. Well worth the imvestment.

I was - the one used during filming was the plastic one that Hornby provides with their train sets, as it's the only controller I have that isn't feedback. I'm currently using a gaugemaster that my friend lent me, it's much better and I'll buy one of my own when I can.

Thanks, it was really good - I wasn't in the cab, but on these DMUs there's windows that go straight through the cab and onto the line, so I still had a pretty good view!

True, but it does the job - for me at least anyway. I do completely get how it could be annoying, especially near the start where John Of Gaunt's train looks like it's being propelled into the station, but I don't think it affects most of the video.

No problem! They're very expensive models, but if you're interested they're made by a UK company called Accucraft, who make various live steam engines, also including a Dolgoch.

That shot of Dolgoch passing the Loop from 0:42-1:20? You can see my mum in the second coach from the engine (the blue and cream coloured one). If the footage had been just a bit longer, you’d have seen myself and my dad XD. Thanks for making my mother famous in the train community.

It is great isn't it! Don't worry about filming, I was there on a day trip with some Talyllyn volunteers and I made sure I got permission - and ran the finished video by a volunteer too to make sure!
