Doc!!!! The feedback …. Can we stop there lol …. I remember getting feedback after QRF and I wasn’t happy lol … but it was just what I needed to get me over the hump to complete my program … the feedback ain’t designed to be pretty or cuddle your feelings- it’s designed to make you as the writer aware of important aspects of your work that need attention to bring it more in alignment with a masterpiece!!!!!!!
@donedissertation13 күн бұрын
Yes! Feedback can be challenging for sure. But as you know once you have a process to handle the feedback you start to embrace it because feedback gets you one step closer to being done!

Good evening Doc! Hope your day is going well... this is the 1st time I've heard of the 3 article dissertation! Is this a fairly new method or has it been around ? Thx so much for your wonderful insight !
@donedissertation25 күн бұрын
@@shawnlmoran8975 the 3 article dissertation is common in a number of social science and hard science disciplines. We've seen it from our clients in Ed policy, biomedical sciences, public health, and economics just to name a few. There are even more versions than the 3 article dissertation type. There's so much variation across the US.

Got my PhD 45 years ago, when I hear these discussions not much has changed in the process. For what it’s worth never once regretted getting a PhD even though it was so so hard. I didn’t have to switch chairs, BUT I did have a committee member drop off the team and that caused a bit of a tizzy …. My chair helped me to find a replacement committee member rather quickly, so it’s important to recognize the power of the chair !!!!!!! They have connections beyond connections sometimes….

People+ process+ product = success…… BUT ONLY IF YOU HAVE THE RIGHT PEOPLE, FOLLOW THE PROCESS WITHOUT SHORTCUTS, AND TAKE OWNERSHIP OF YOUR PRODUCT!!!!! I’ve seen first hand doctoral students “run out of gas” during the process and stay stuck …. You have to keep going- you have to keep pushing - if you want that product to be stellar ! Excellent points you made in this short !!!! I’m sharing with my some of friends …. They need it ! 😊

Doc……. You are amazing !!!!! Almost everything you said, I’ve experienced…I almost quit on several occasions, but I am not a quitter!!!! I was diagnosed with diabetes right before I began my doctoral studies, several close family members died (including babies), and my job decided to re-structure their adjunct faculty…. resulting in my hours being cut severely …. I was super stressed, hurt, and borderline depressed! When I woke up one morning, I DECIDED that enough was enough … no more feeling sorry for myself , no more crying over events I had no control over - I got my joy back and with that came a renewed passion to keep going and finish my degree and on March 18, 2018 I crossed that finish line baby and became Dr. Shawn Moran… all the pain and frustration carried me to the goal! I said all that to say that people must be invested mentally, physically, socially, spiritually, and financially in what they wish to achieve … and be prepared to battle thoughts of hopelessness, thoughts of strain , and even thoughts of inferiority… not everyone is cut out for getting a doctorate, but for those of us who are, the journey speaks for itself ….never give up!
