We fly those in a UAS program. We plate the elevons with 1/32 aircraft ply on the bottom and use a stiffer horn. Also, upgrade pushrods to 2mm or 2/56. Otherwise, you are in strong risk of flutter, the horn bending over or the pushrod buckling under pressure. What comes in the kit is trash. You might get away with it for a short while, but you won't eternally.

It should do the job. For sure with the X8. Docs say it works well with their X5 which is closer to the size of the Caipirinha 2 so I think it will work well. The battery is well captured in the Caipirinha 2 because it barely fits as is. Lol BIG tail on the Skyhunter 1800 required I remove the two rear rods sticking up. The tail would snag on them for sure. I think I got a good shot at it. 😊

Motor mount goes with cup to the inside Vernon sand it really good and mine is in with Uohopor they stay in I have one on mine and I also have it on the Skywalker plane also pretty much the same motor mount

Vern, getting back to you on this, wondering if you have tried the notch filtering on the Heewing VTOL yet. I have set my Skyhunter VTOL aside for the moment (it doesn’t hover well at all), and just tried out the Heewing T1 VTOL PNP. With the stock firmware (v4.4.2) it hovers quite nicely. But I’ve been in conversation with Andy Piper and he really recommends using his notch filter parameters. Trouble is, as I’ve discovered, one needs to flash the ESCs with Bluejay to make them DShot compatible, which means first setting up DShot and DShot Pass-through in Ardupilot (something I’m trying to wrap my head around).

Hi I'm getting the message "Failed to enter command mode" when trying to connect as per the video. I think there may not be a bootloader on the board. I purchased direct from factory rather than a hobby store. Do you have instructions for the bootloader?

I get that a lot. I always go to QGroundControl and see if it works there, it happens so much. If that doesn't work I go for the RFDTools. If it doesn't work at that point I have to decide how much my time is worth vs buying a better radio. :) files.rfdesign.com.au/tools/

I just wanted to give you a shout. I feel your pain. Mom, only 84, had shoulder replacement surgery a couple of months ago. It took 100% of my time for nearly six weeks. I didn't get any time for myself. I don't know your situation, but balancing a parent's pride and independence with a need for care can be complex and draining for a caregiver. I love your work; I feel a sense of camaraderie with an old guy tinkering in his basement.

hey so I brought the DJI Avata 2 and their new "FPV Controller" (Because DJI only works with DJI...) anyway Fell in love with freestyle FPV I got Lucky or unlucky depending on how you look at it but I got on ebay Vortex 250 RX th bind fly kit only because the guy have the Fat Shark Goggle dom v3 headset with 2 sets of battery's a receiver and a bunch of Healthy LiPo battery's and charger basically 80% of what I needed to get going now my Receiver is the frsky taranis plus But I'm upgrading that to the Radiomaster Boxer with ELRS my Question is Flying Avata 2 someone is holding your hand the whole way to the end and I'm able to fly Freestyle good enough to keep me happy and in the game, now I want to start doing my own Builds because DJI O3 Air unit is to much and I'd rather go with some DYI Drones then to keep making warranty clams with DJI any back to the Question can I just plug my Vortex 250 RX into the latest Betaflight because I want to do some tuning but Since the thing is so old I do not want to screw it up, the thing flys like shit I cant stay in place even when my controller is True and I'm scared shitless to fly thjis thing near people but the DJI I dont even use my goggles sometimes because Hooking it up to my Ipad and flying on that screen kicking back is amazing (Don't get me wrong I use the goggles about 2/3 times but seeing it on an nice IPAD Pro is the best sorry if this was tough to read

I am not fully following you here. You connect the pwm input of the esc to a pwm port where you want to control the motor from. DSHOT ESC’s can then be programed through that connection using passthrough.
