Sorry I am commenting on videos five months later... but I am curious about how many chances you give a record to grow on you. You mention (well, Sorin mentioned... but you agreed) not liking one of those at first but then slowly developing a deep appreciation for it. Maybe you all should do a video on 'acquired taste records'! :)
@YesterdaysTrips5 күн бұрын
For me at least it honestly really depends on the record in question. If it is a record that a lot of other people talk about and like, I usually hold onto it for a good bit. If it's a rather obscure record that I could find later on I usually give it a another listen or two. It all really depends on the record, but that is a fantastic video idea! Thanks for watching! ✌️🏻

@@YesterdaysTrips Your reply comment struck a familiar chord! When I was living in Vegas several years ago, I stopped by a garage sale where the people were selling records, including some 45’s. While sorting through the 45’s, I came across a copy of “Satisfaction” by the Rolling Stones. Looking closer at the label, I immediately recognized the name handwritten on it as a girl that I graduated from high school with about 35 years earlier! Larry Coryell is one of the only Jazz artist that I would like to find some of his albums. I’m a fan of Canned Heat. I think Freewheelin is a much better album than the debut. The Deviants are cool. That Funkadelic album is beyond cool. My local store has a few of their early albums but they are too expensive. The Wal Mart Metallica versions are great sounding. Just as good as the originals. You showed some great records, Mothership Connection, Silver Apples, Hot Rats

Yeah I highly recommend picking up some Coryell when you find it. And yeah I agree Freewheelin is much better than his debut. I feel like he hadn’t really found his voice on the first one. Yeah funkadelic records go for ridiculous amounts of money or they’re just destroyed. It’s a real shame honestly but hope to get more of their stuff sooner or later. I see their first one pop up on the lower side every now and then on Ebay. And that’s awesome. I may have to pick up on the Walmart Kill ‘em all then. See if it sounds better or not. Hi 👋 im viewing from New Zealand. Im in my sixties in age. I own a large music collection ranging in all different genres. Marmalade were popular in the late 1960s early 1970s. Reflections of my Life i like and was a hit in 1969 /70. Sly & the Family Stone are a cool group. My favorite track of theirs is the song Hot fun in the Summertime. The O' Jay's were huge in the 1970s, they had a string of hits. Their song Love Train from 1973 is good. I know what you mean about some record store owners . Some are dodgy, and some of their records are over priced. I love Mott the Hoople. They were a British Glam Rock band. All the way from Memphis and Roll away the Stone are favorite songs of mine by them. War put out good Soul / Funk music. I like putting old music from the past on , it's all nostalgic for me now. I like Jazz. I had the pleasure of seeing trumpter Miles Davis in concert in the 1980s. Great records there , you have done well. From Carl.

Hello! I definitely need to give Reflections Of My Life another listen. Didn’t hit me on the first listen but maybe the second listen will do it. Not the method I can actually listen to the first track on each side now haha. Yeah Sly & The Family Stone is great! Still need to give There’s A Riot Going On a spin. I would love to find the O’Jays records before they signed with Philadelphia International. Those were before they got super popular so I suspect the music will reflect that and be a bit more up my alley. Also still need to give that Mott The Hoople record a listen! And aw man I’m jealous to hear you got to see Miles Davis live! I just recently got original copies of Bitches Brew and Kind Of Blue so been really digging his stuff recently! Thanks for watching! ✌🏻

The Canned Heat gatefold album is very cool and highly desirable in the shrink! In reality, any gatefold album, especially with a hype sticker is RARE. Those pink scroll copies of VDGG are hard enough to find over here in the UK. I only found one in the past year, along with upgrade 1st UK copies of Pawn Hearts and Godbluff (my two favourites), and a nice US copy of H To He which sounded surprisingly excellent, all from the same collection. The copy of Least We Can Do also had the super rare poster/lyric sheet!!

Also, the only UK pressed Vertigo swirl I’ve ever come across that didn’t have the full swirl on either label was a copy of Colosseum’s other album on the label, Daughter Of Time!
@YesterdaysTrips25 күн бұрын
Oh wow really? I suspect it’s because that album was repressed so much? Ironically I’ve never found the US release of Least We Can Do. I find that one to be impossible to find. Two of the three copies I’ve seen of that record have been UK represses. Which I don’t mind because the album art is certainly superior. I still need to get Pawn Hearts and Godbluff. I have a US promo copy of H To He and was also surprised to find that it sounds quite good. Still on the look out for an Aerosol Grey Machine. Almost pulled the trigger on one a while back but decided not to go through with it. And that’s so cool your copy came with the inserts! I honestly didn’t know it had any inserts so I will definitely be checking those out. And that’s interesting haha. I suspect it’s just something to do with how the vertigo label looked in different countries? Daughter Of Time is a fantastic record by them though. Still need to pick that one up. Luckily the US copies are pretty affordable and I believe the track listing is the same over here. Thanks for watching! ✌🏻

I have an og us press but I definitely have to give it another listen because it’s been close to a year since I’ve listened to it.
