That was Manson at their peak. I was lucky enough to see them on this tour at The Barrowlands and they were unbelievably tight, what a show

It's never mentioned now, but I remember when this came out back in 98, XFM and the NME Saying it sounded like The Police. I'd say the first few seconds does.

I saw them do their secret pre Reading warm up in 98 in Stoke at a small little venue called The Stage and that gig is still in my top 3 gigs ever. Then saw Paul Draper last week @ Gorilla in Manchester with his band perform Six in it's entirety. They pulled if off just about. He's certainly not the man he was back then bless. Still adore Mansun though, always will x

WOW, I have learnt so much in the comments about why Mansun split up that I did not know before, I only joined Mansun, Paul Draper fan clubs on Facebook 1 week ago and I still never found out on there why the band split up. I loved them in the 1990's but I never truly knew how great they really were until January 2023 when I started listening to old songs I'd never heard before but their music still sounds great to this day and is not dated at all. They are still the best band in the whole world, pity they split up. I would love to know what has happened to Stove, Chad & Andy. Does anybody know what the other 3 are doing now ? I'm going to see Paul playing live in his new band Cult Leader Tactics on 23 or 24th March in Islington 02, I can't wait

Ok I searched on the internet and found out why the other 3 band members never talked about the real reason behind the split to this day. And it's been 20 years since then mind you. Also, I came across the news that Catherine AD aka The Anchoress obtained an interim stalking protection against Paul. What a mess, really.

Sometimes I think Paul's lost his mind a bit...how can he say he didn't know which song belonged on each of the 2 albums? I mean every song on Six blends with the following song so it was pretty obvious they all belonged on the Six album, whereas the ones on TDFR are single units that stand each on their own if I remember correctly. Anyway, this story about the guys trying to replace him never made it to the Mansun forum or even Mansunite as far as I can remember, and I used to be in touch with Suzie Meredith quite often back in the days, same with Dave Natts. I was friends with a bunch of fans from the UK (I'm from Italy) who were among the "roadies" Paul mentions here and noone has ever come up with this thing ever. So what's the truth here? Who's this pub singer who was supposed to replace Paul? I don't believe this, I'm sorry. Stove was never mentioned here, but Paul says Chad played the bass during Six implying that Stove was in Chester rehearsing with the pub singer at that time, but I've seen interviews where Stove talks about the Six recording sessions, so again what's the truth here? Last but not least: did Stove really take the money off the band's account and was sacked shortly afterwards? Is Kleptomania a reference to a stealing attitude someone used to have in the band our outside the band? I'd love to hear Stove's version of the story but he seems to have vanished off the face of the earth.

I'm quite new to Mansun, but from the things I've read it seems PD is not a reliable narrator. The rest of the band seem to have kept quiet on the subject so all we have to go on is what PD says, but as you pointed out, his story doesn't always make sense...

I think we hear Six that way because we've never heard it differently. Certain songs are easily recognisable as 'stand alone' - Six, Negative, Television, Legacy, Being a Girl... Being a bit of an audiophile, I took all the non album tracks from the Six and Little Kix sessions and mixed them seamlessly into one complete piece in a way that I thought gave it fluidity and dynamic shifts so it sounds like an album in the way that AOTGL and SIX do. If SIX had ended with When The Wind Blows and Been Here Before, you'd have got used to it by now. That would just be the album... As for the John Power wannabe, it seems to very detailed story. Paul was obviously THE most important member as songwriter, lyricist, producer, mixer, lead singer/front man. Maybe the others started to feel surplus to requirements, I dunno... I was there in Nottingham on that fateful night in 2018. I've also had a few personal DM chats with Paul about odd things and there's certainly been times I've been concerned for him. Chad seems to have started several different lives since, all about as far from being a guitar God as is possible... It seems in many ways they're as elusive as their music. I still love them dearly. I always will. Best British band of the 90s and since...
