He's being A LOT too hard on Gordon Lightfoot. And between Ric Mixter and Jeff Thomas, a high school history lecturer with The Association Of Lifetime Learners, my personal favorite Great Lakes' Shipping lecturer. I'M SICK OF IT! The only one of his lectures I never rewatch is the Fitzgerald one. And Jeff is NOTHING . Nowhere NEARLY as savage as Ric. I was declared in remission in my fight with spinal cancer and I bought FRONT ROW CETER STAGE tickets for me and my BFF. When Gord took the middle-show break, he came to the edge of the stage and shook hands. This HUGE guy shoved me and Kenyatta out of the way...he was @6'4" or so and 250...I was cancer skinny and I'm 4'9". Gordon said-- not on the mic-didnt embarass the guy--Be a gentleman fella...dont shove the ladies." He took my hand in both his.. and I was crying....I was so happy to TOUCH him. He pressed my hand between his and said , "Don't cry, sweetheart.. EVERYTHING IS FINE". When he released my hand, his guitar pick was in the center. The pick he'd been playing his guitar with. I still have it. I had it mounted in a gold pick-shaped frame with a crystal cover. My precious possession. Gordon Lightfoot was one of the last real Troubadours. RIP GORD. YOU NEVER KNEW HOW MUCH YOUR KINDNESS MEANT TO ME. I'LL ALWAYS LOVE YOUR MUSIC. AND *YOU* FOREVER, KATARINA

Sadly the Big Fitz was junk, it should have been scrapped, it's inner structure was compromised from previous accidents and years of over bending and flexing at sea and had history or repair welds. Cpt Mcsorley though, made a fundamental mistake by not seeking shelter along with the other vessels that he passed on the way. For a guy who even said himself that the way the Fitz bended and flexed in heavy seas even scared him, i cannot understand why he ventured on, in those conditions. As far as Cpt Cooper was concerned, I'm very sure that he knows 100% what he was talking about and Ric Mixter left out the information that Cpt Mcsorley told Cpt Cooper on the radio and that was that he was taking on water and a had a list to the starboard side which really meant that the vessel was slowly sinking, this took place around about when Cpt Cooper had thought the Fitz was in too close and could have run aground. The pumps were the only reason the Fitz went on as far as it did before it sank.

From the moment I heard of this incident the families have been in our prayers. But I must be truthful my prayers have been directed towards you as our mayor and leader. I am so proud of your leadership and continue to pray that you continue in the strength that you demonstrate.

Speculation is not fact. But after years of investigation, it's almost certain that Gordon Lightfoot staged the wreck because he thought his song wasn't getting enough air time.

What an excellent, informative video, and told with the true passion of a natural teacher! 👍👍👍 I really enjoyed it, thank you!! My great grandfather owned a small coal mine in ohio that he worked with a pony and cart. There was a cave-in one day, breaking his back. He hooked himself up to the pony and she dragged him home, where his wife put him to bed. There was no medical attention because they were too poor to afford a doctor, so he stayed there until he healed enough to go back to work! This incredible toughness is what BUILT our country..their can-do spirit is an inspiration, and your video keeps that spirit alive! ❤

I wish I knew this years ago. We had a plow driver that only pushed the snow into occupied houses. Created the problem, then offeres to "help" us.

If it is snowing and the plows are running to keep the roads open...you are going to get buried before you ever get out to start shoveling. You dont go out and shovel while the snow is still falling.

Last year a girl in her 20's knocked on my door and asked to shovel my driveway for 10 bucks. In my head i started laughing and thought, tell me you've never shoveled a driveway a day in your life without telling me. So i said, does that include the small part of the road right in front of my driveway so we can get in and out of the driveway too? She said yeah. I said you got a deal. I brought her water as i quickly started watching her strip more and more clothes off during her ordeal. She brought nothing to drink either. Finally about 4+ hours later she knocked on my door to tell me she was done. I said did it take you longer than you expected? She said yeah a lot longer. I said how many more driveways are you planning to do today? She said, None. I laughed. I said this is your first time doing this ain't it? She said yeah. I said, I figured when you only asked for ten bucks. She said, i thought I'd get out today and make some extra easy money and realized this is way harder than it looks. Thought I'd do about 2 driveways an hour or so but i never want to do this again. I laughed some more because.... You know... women. They never realize how hard men work for them. But, i gave her it was either 60 or 80 for her efforts instead of the 10 she wanted. I woulda paid someone that so i wouldn't need to do it so it was worth it to me. This for some reason reminded me of that story.

This is good to know. 😊 In my city, cars are supposed to park on the odd numbered side of the street when snow is in the forcast so the plows can push all the snow toward the even numbered houses... I get twice as much snow pushed my way. 😢
