The other year I saw something on the gravestone with the hole so immediately went out to find it, spent about half an hour walking round the Duffield Cemetery with no luck came for a look here and eventually found it. Cannot find any info on it at all now but I think the lady died so the husband had her buried and left the other side black so he could be buried with her when he died, In the mean time he started seeing another woman although she got so fed up with him visiting the grave she apparently shot the gravestone with a blunderbuss! But looking closely at the grave he was buried there.

As you panned around the old burial ground, I could see my grandparents’ graves. Grandmother passed in 1935 and Grandfather 1960’s Near the gates are buried my Great Grandparents and members of their families. The building was simply a chapel of easement. It was never used for worship. The burial ground was established when the mine opened, probably mid 19th Century. The villages stopped using it mainly because the ground became waterlogged and the prepared graves filled with water! Not nice for the family to see. Pleasant to think that my family’ s remains are in such a peaceful place.

Would that be ST Nearly Headless Nick-my patron saint? (Having had the privilege of surviving internal/infernal decapitation, I count him as my patron Saint.-I loved that book,( Watership Down)-nice to see the landscape that inspired it. The old chapel I was married in many a long moon ago looks very much like a much smaller version of the first church on this visit, sitting very much alone atop a large forested hill in Western Massachusetts, would have much pleased my Anglo/Saxon forebears, and to add to it the place was damp, overcast and foggy (ever so English) as the wedding was starting, but to have the sun break out around noon(it was in early April, with a bit of snow still on the ground .-the next day we headed out for Virginia on separate motorcycles for a 2-week honeymoon-that was 1981-and still together !-Good to see you back,I was hoping it was due to a busy, prosperous, and happy personal life-all the best to you both!

I did indeed enjoy it much, Thanks ! For some reason I rather like the old graveyards with longish grass when they are kept up, and brush kept down, for me it adds to the atmosphere. A lovely young lady as a guide does add a great deal as well!

Interestingly the oldest grave stone at Wilne is dated 1680. Time stamp 11:47. Not the two in the foreground but just further back, the smallest of the two. (I think the other was from the 1700's). It was getting very hard to read and that was all we could make out. But well done for noticing the crest at st. Micheal's, that's overlooked by many people...again that date 🤔

Why did you say there’s NO KEY HOLE on the Courtnoy Vault??? You didn’t even show all 4 sides!!! Only one side has the actual metal door which is adorned with symbolism and an initial crest - it’s literally THE BEST PART as it’s the most intriguing!!! There’s also small black & white tiles that run nearly the entire width of the base of the vault on the side of the door, which is again MOST INTRIGUING as it’s perhaps the most iconic & recognizable occult symbolism there is in the world.. It’s a shame you didn’t see ANY of this even tho it was literally 10 feet away..

I went to this graveyard today, after searching some info on it, I found your video! I was going to suggest some local ones I've covered on my channel in my adventures as a wedding chauffeur, hanging out in church graveyards is my thing on my break! 😳😲😁 But you seem to have covered most, such as Thrumpton hall, the chapel on the hill Kimberly the one at holme pierrepoint, how about the one at Linby or st marys church Attenborough nature reserve, there is some interesting historical grave stones there. I've added your channel, hopefully you'll connect?
