Fernald and Sunny are such a great duo in the Netflix series.

They are basically a family friendly version of the Hound and Arya Stark!

He was my favorite character and I loved his and sunny's interactions and how he slowly grew to love her as if she was his own child. I was really hoping he would get fully redeemed in the end and adopt the Baudelaires

I just finished this show and was so glad that they actually expanded on their friendship; easily the cutest relationship in the entire show. I love Fernald's logic of doing bad things for a good reason, it really added to his character

It's a minor one, but in "Bad Beginning"when Olaf holds up Sunny and threatens to drop her during the dinner, Fernald is the only one who puts his arms out trying to be ready to catch her.

Sunny reminded him of Fiona.

SPOILERS FOR THE GRIM GROTTO!! The parallels between him having a soft spot for sunny and him leaving his sister, who was very young when the anwhistle aquatics fire happened. I think it corresponds to this, considering him not having a soft spot for Violet. He remembers his sister from when she was younger, since he caused the fire, thus being separated from his sister while she was still young (as seen in Fiona’s photo, appearing to have been taken around the time the fire occurred). Idk, just random ramblings.

I wonder if Fernald's actor has any fun stories working with Sunny's actor

He really did fall in with the wrong crowd. One thing I think is a nice perk of adaptation hindsight, Is them being able to hint at Mr. Whiddershins’s true character early on. Ironic, The gnarliest looking of Olaf’s minions Is also the least evil of the lot. Ironically fitting.

In the school episodes, Fernald was scared that the baby was dead only to see that it was a fake. It’s subtle, but still there. And in episode one, when the theater troop is eating pasta, Sunny says words that usually only Violet and Klaus can understand, but somehow Fernald understands her too. And of course there are these scenes of them actually interacting with each other. It’s kinda cute ❤️
