@bobmenery9902 its because it is, tri tip is pretty lean and also doesn't have enough connective tissue. The two things that make BBQ delicious is rendered fat and the conversion of collagen to gelatin. Unfortunately this cut has neither in much quantity, which is why it looks like that. I'm sure it tastes good to them but yeah.
