I remember getting cable just before the video and this video on mtv was the biggest reason we were excited about it 😂

MJ, aka the Thriller, just wanted to scare the hell out of his girlfriend. The Thriller can change into anything he wants. She said she wasn't scared. So he proceeded to scare her. There is a remix of this song on YT where they added in the deleted part of Vincent Price's rap. There are two verses in the rap we all know. But there used to be 3. The song is also longer. It starts with the music faintly playing the background while MJ sings (almost acapella) in the foreground and then suddenly the beat kicks in and it's amazing.

there was a trick to doing the lean. it might have been done for the video, although some have said it was camera trickery, such as the odd angle it is shot it in, but he would perform in on stage using a clever trick. there was a hitch hidden in the stage that would pop out at the right moment MJ would slide his foot over it. there were slots designed into the heels of the shoes. it would allow Mj and the dancer to do the lean. it was said it still put pressure on the achilles heel so it required a lot of core strength. MJ never pissed the hitch and always got it right. It was a secret until MJ patented the shoe. that's how everyone then found out how it was done.

You don’t know how good you’ve got it! Back in the day when this video came out our only options for seeing it was by watching mtv! We couldn’t rewind and watch the lean again so we had to wait for 10-12 hours before mtv showed the video again! And everyone who watched it was just like you and tried the lean and of course nobody could do it because as we found out decades later that it wasn’t real! And I’m willing to bet that everyone around my age (50) still knows the THRILLER dance too

MJ performed the moonwalk in 1983 on the 25th Anniversary of Motown special. But the dance move has been around since the early 1930’s. MJ was not the first to perform the move. Google it.

This song is pretty dark knowing that it is about a kid being a witness to their mother having an affair with a guy dressed like Santa Claus =T

@@Glitchberry a child who witnesses their mother kissing someone dressed as Santa Claus on Christmas Eve, mistakenly believing it to be the real Santa, and wondering how their father will react to this seemingly shocking discovery, unaware that "Santa" is actually their father in a costume! It’s nun dark about it lol

@@Milkers777 which is not how Mike portrays it with the extra post-chorus lyrics where he promises to tell his father which in turn is funny to this character Mike inhabited and not to his father, on top of trying to get his brothers to believe him. And before you saying about the original version, I can care less for it and its original meaning.

Michael Jackson in this video did not originate the werewolf transfromation. That comes from 1950's Werewolf horror movies, which video takes from "I was a teenage werewolf" from 1957. And even those 1950's werewolf movies are likely from books written many many years ago. Nah mike didnt pioneer this in this video.

I remember watching the premiere of 'JAM' just like each other of his world premieres. I remember it was the summer of 1992 and I know it was a Friday. I don't know the date but watching you having a genuine reaction for the first time is a gold man. It is pure gold to see what many of us who grew up with MJ felt through you. I would hope you watch each of his videos as well which I would come back to watch. Mj was the only artist I've ever known to date to have World premieres for a music video. I mean this cat would cut regular broadcasts for a special MJ video premiere as if it was law. The Jackson mania was no joke

I’m so amazed by the number of young people who never heard of the Jackson Five. They think Michael Jackson started singing in his twenties with ‘Billie Jean’.
@duggla781Күн бұрын
To truly understand the excitement of thriller video here, you needed to watch some other videos by other artists of that era of 83. They were just crap he spent I think $ 1.4 million on the video production of thriller when the most expensive video prior to thriller was $50,000. And to answer your question, the Michael Jackson thriller the wolf transformation was inspired by the American Werewolf the film by John Landis who MJ hired to produce Thriller and Landis brought the same makeup artist from that film onto this set. You ought to watch making of Thriller
