No TV-AM. However this video was an absolute blast. Thanks for sharing. Such a shame that all these name have now been overridden by the ITV brand.

It was made at LWT just before the early 90’s franchise changes. Initially for an internal ITV Network feed to celebrate migration of the old Analogue transmission operation to a new digital Presentation operation and BT National Network ! Its been copied many times mainly to VHS, hence the poor quality.

As a North American, I'm sad that the Thames ID is gone, since it always reminds me of Benny Hill.

The last ident is the Generic Ident that was dropped by many of the franchises in the early 90’s except for Yorkshire until 1996 and Grampian used theirs until they folded and were bought out by Scottish ( which only used their version for 3 months ) in 1998. Some of the franchises didn’t use it all, in fact gave it the finger, I am not surprised though since the designers really messed up some of the stations logos in the triangle. An interesting concept in theory but not so good in practice.

they were the weekend tv until 1968

ABC was the weekend itv franchise for the North and the Midlands regions until 1968, when they lost their franchise and both areas were covered all week by Granada ( North West ), Yorkshire ( Yorkshire and from 1974, North Norfolk and Lincolnshire) and ATV ( rebranded as Central in 1982 ) the merged with the then London weekday franchise, Rediffusion London ( aka, Associated-Rediffusion) albeit Rediffusion was reluctant to do so, the merger though became Thames Television and began broadcasting from Rediffusion’s former studios in Teddington, whilst a new weekend franchise for London and the ITV network was formed called London Weekend ( aka London Weekend Television or LWT ) and began broadcasting from Friday evening to Midnight on Sundays from a newly built studio on the South Bank.

Good old Grampian. Though I have to say that Tyne Tees was always my favourite ident. (the late seventies/eighties version)
@smogmonster187611 күн бұрын
I live in the Tyne Tees area (Middlesbrough to be specific) so used to see the 70s, 80s logo all the time. It took me years to realise it was just basically two capital Ts on top of a capital T and capital V 😂. In 1996 they inexplicably decided to drop the name Tyne Tees as an on air name and introduced the bizarre name of Channel 3 North East in the form or North East 3 on the on screen ident. It was a blue background with gold lettering. The Tyne Tees name appeared as if it was the parent company.. Then everything either became a Tyne Tees Television production or presentation for Channel 3 North East (North East 3). This was about as popular as Hitler at a bar mitzvah. Needless to say it only lasted for around 2 years because in 1998 the old TT TV logo returned before ITV swallowed everything. Apart from Tyne Tees my favourite was Thames as it ment The Sweeney, Minder and sooo many other great shows were about to start. The ITC didn’t do any favourers to ITV as a whole by not renewing Thames’s licence. I think they just wanted to cause a big shock in the industry for no other reason than they could.

I remember the 1988-93 Ulster ident as I was a small child at the time. Have lost how many times Ulster/UTV ident has changed since 1993 but nice to see these idents from yesteryear, pre-ITV centralisation.

09:33 Semicircle Green: TSW is a affiliate in ITV, some mistakes ident for semicircle green keep moving and flat change or shadow. CLG says: On a black background, we see an overhead view of a staticky television screen with a red border around it. A blue square comes out of the screen.The square curves and starts to cover the screen as a pink volcano-likeappendage rises out of the screen. Once the screen is covered, it is now a blue sphere. The sphere splits into three and then six in a "mitosis"-like effect. The spheres then flip to reveal that they are green hemispheres with a blue interior. The hemispheres then form pairs at various angles (looking a bit like the Sydney Opera House, but actually supposed to represent an abstract sailboat shape similar to the Golden Hind in the Westward TV logos) and move toward the center of the screen. A blue zigzag line appears below them and "TSW" appears below the line. That's being to illuminate of moving. This is a mistake.
