This was helpful. It is difficult to see how these bolts are removed without any experience - I tried a number of different methods all of which failed - now I see I can do it with just vice grips, and still a bit of work but certainly the way to go. Leave it to GM to design such a ridiculous connector - a good old post/clamp connector is much easier to fix.

Could I use a medium texture Wire wheel for just a small 1 one inch scratch on my 2022 honda hrv alloy wheel?
@biilyblast642 жыл бұрын
I would not use a wire wheel.. you might cut the tire or whatever else around the actual scratch.

To be up front here, I find your connection to the POSITIVE post, a very troublesome point in your video. First of all, I am a retired Electronics Technician with more than 5 decades of experience working with electronics and electrical circuits of all kinds. If any metallic part of that bat handle switch that is connected to the positive post of the battery happened to touch anything metal on the hood or chassis, after you have the battery negative post reconnected, then you would have directly connected the positive to the ground side causing a MASSIVE short circuit, huge amperage drain resulting more than likely in an explosion of the battery, spewing sulfuric acid and sparks everywhere, including on your skin and eyes. The first order of business would have been to remove the negative connector from the battery. If your wrench happened to touch any incidental metal object in the vicinity, nothing would happen, since the negative of the battery and the chassis are at the same potential. With the Negative terminal removed, then the proper approach would be to mount your switch wherever it would be accessible, so that it becomes in series between the negative battery post and the negative terminal that was connected to the battery originally. That way, if there is ever an accident, or if any metal object were to come into contact with the switch terminals after it was installed, no harm would come of it, since that terminal and all metal components and chassis or body components are at the same potential. THIS IS A VERY IMPORTANT DISTINCTION. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER connect a disconnect switch to the Positive post of a car battery. The one rare exception would be, if the vehicle was an older or possibly a foreign vehicle that has a Positive grounded chassis. A very rare case indeed. Otherwise, NEGATIVE side for disconnects ONLY. This understanding could save someone's LIFE.
@ttwiisstt23652 жыл бұрын
I completely understand, but like i said in the video. It’s supposed to go on the Negative side but due to clearance issues with the fender i had to put it on the positive side. Plenty of room under hood so im not worried about that but this is just a temporary solution to my battery not getting drained as the truck is only moved 2 or 3 times this past year

hi my guy tried wiring a kill switch but the wire burnt and we tried on the negative terminal had to be all i had to do was smog it and i know a way now, as it drives good, i was told not to drive the next day after the mistake all that happened was when we were trying to install, the security light was blinking, i smelled something burning a little, had to be the wire because he said he on accident installed it backwards, how bad is that? the car was fine not i'm worried about making it to the smog station up the street, so the wire that got burnt we bought from the auto parts store.. can you give me so advise say something?

And by the way, this specific type of rubber cover slips right off of the cable end to expose the terminal connectors and it's very much worth doing. These connectors are "out of sight out of mind" and mine needed a pretty thorough cleaning. It adds all of a few very worthwhile minutes to the job. Thanks again for the video.

@@spotcat44 Have you first pulled out the bolt? You need to pull the bolt out first and then try to get the rubber cover off. Yours might be a bit different.

If U wanna get technical here find something thing enough to fit between the tire and the rim groove maybe a metal sheet as u do a gud size depending on the metal sheet how long it is.
