You should never directly touch the glass bulb of this type of lamp. The oil from your fingers can stain the glass.

Weird thing is that the manuals that came with several 39 Watts ceramic metal halide bulbs I bought said nothing about KEEPING IT CLEAN at all - just minimal handling with bare hands, unlike Halogen or regular Quartz metal halide bulbs' manual that always says so. 🤷 So I dunno.
