she is a Jew from an Arab country. as there are Jews from European countries. the influence is clearly Arabic in her songs. and it's just our make-up as a people. 2000 years of exile is a long time. Israeli music is all sorts of music. also, there are lots of Arabs sheikhs that admit freely that the Arabs in the area of Israel today are approximately 30% Jewish that were forced to Islam.

Ofra Haza is an israeli jewish of yemeni descent. she mentioned in an interview that her family came to the holy land from yemen محافظة لحج before the country of Israel was established in the early 1860's. fyi jews were exiled for 2000 years from the holy land and were scattered among many nations and different countries - that's why you can see us in many colors and cultures ❤

Great channel! Great work! I like your positive vibe and desire to learn more about Israeli music. As you probably know by now more than half of Israelis have roots in Middle Eastern and North African countries. So they brought their cultures and created something new. Netta herself is part Moroccan part Lybian from her mother's side. I saw her live here in Chicago. She was mind-blowing and so much fun to watch!

Hey there. About the part where you notice some words in Hebrew sound similar and have a similar meaning in Arabic. To keep it simple, its because a long time ago your people spoke the same language. That puts Arabic and Hebrew in the same language family called Semitic. Usually members of a the same language family learn each others languages easier, and this may be one of the reasons why a lot of Jews speak Arabic. Selam - Shalom

I think tuna made this song pointing out how many words we use in Hebrew that are originally Arabic, although there are a lot of Arabic phrases in this song an Israeli person would understand all of it since it’s phrases we use as slang :)

‘Seret Aravi’ means Arabic movie in Hebrew, because long time ago in Israel at Friday nights after the Shabbat meal all the family sat and saw Egyptian movies that was on the cables and was a family fun time together. You can also see the concept of the clip is like old Egyptian action movie.
