Are you sure these weren't library direct licenses Randy?
@randymcgraveymusic11 күн бұрын
@sweetersongs5219 yes I'm sure. ESPN is the only channel I'm aware of that does direct licenses.
@sweetersongs521911 күн бұрын
@@randymcgraveymusic It is not about the networks do direct licensing like ESPN. What I am saying is that many many MANY music libraries do direct licensing themselves with a network. Probably though since there are cue sheets that didn't happen with these but if you see Tunesat detections that you are not getting paid for and have no cue sheets for then the songs might have been direct licensed.
@randymcgraveymusic10 күн бұрын
@sweetersongs5219 I don't believe it is direct licensing. I know other composers that work with the same libraries that get payments from the channels that I've not gotten paid from. It is more likely either the cue sheets not being filled out properly, or some problem with ASCAP organizing everything.
@sweetersongs521910 күн бұрын
@@randymcgraveymusic Goitcha. Did you see if the cue sheet was filled out correctly for you then?
@randymcgraveymusic10 күн бұрын
@sweetersongs5219 I always ask the libraries and they tell me that the client is responsible for doing that. The libraries say they don't receive cue sheets. And when I ask ascap I get the same response.

@iggswanna1248 while your numbers are off, I get what you are saying. This is not a business that's for everyone. It is passive income, which is a lot different than being a doctor. The goal is to make a lot of money over the course of a long time. But if you reach full time income with it, it becomes the gift that keeps on giving.

You know, I've heard many different takes on Stairway on ukulele, and I've seen and played various tab sheets written by various people. They're all slightly different from each other. And while they're all _good,_ yours is hands down the best I've heard. It sounds closest to the original. Mind you, I see yours is a baritone uke and all the rest (including my own) have been soprano, but still. It's the arrangement.

Randy, thanks for the video, interesting thoughts. I can add my own experience: AudioJungle still works for me, but I constantly upload new music there. Pond5 has never worked for me. Also, for anyone who finds this information valuable-at the moment, perhaps the only viable royalty-free music platforms are Music Vine and Filmpac. However, getting accepted there is very difficult. And if you don’t mind, could you tell me how many tracks you have on Crucial Music? I only saw one track under your name there. I have had a few tracks there for a year, but so far, no earnings. I'm trying to assess their potential.

a few months ago I actually got a movie placement from a P5 track, it showed up in my PRO reg. Decent movie streaming on Amazon, Apple TV, etc.. was a purchased license so got about $50 upfront!... background track in a bar scene type of thing. I know this is extremely rare, and I don't submit to P5 anymore.

Wow that's awesome, congrats! It's a shame that it was only a $50 fee for a movie. I once had a UK commercial placement that was licensed through Pond5 which got over $2k in PRO royalties. These things aren't the norm, but it's a nice win when they happen.
