12:18 Mmm it'd be cool if someone had a whole series end in a "major" failure, like sacrificing Shikaraki for a "greater good" but he lives and is the main bad in the sequel.

Or an alluded sequel that could just wrap around to how the beginning started, just in a fresher paint.

Being a hero is subjective in the first place I would say with the amount of innocent lives he saved weighed he was a good person or not would be horrific and the fact that after he backed the number one he put the needs of others above his own by how he was willing to sacrifice himslef multiple times even making amends. Honestly I blame almighty if he just retired when he was supposed to never would have been number one and almighty could still be their to see how it would unfold and because he wasn’t trying to be the number one than his mental psychological state might not have let him to destroy his family m. Nit to mention the impact of him keeping his weekend power a secrete which had enormous impacts to the story but to mention all the murders and likely crimes committed after he was forced to retire because of his arrogance.

In fairness most people are anime only and their kills (he and overhaul’s) are probably 10 seconds or less apart with FAR more emphasis put on overhaul as it’s his introduction and he mutilated their bodies. It ,severed heads and limbs with a burning car with 3 dark mysterious silhouettes looming over, leaves a more lasting impression than a blue fire and shadows for bodies. Not to mention its beside a character they’d seen for an entire 2 season trying to murder people unsuccessfully, and the other is on his debut. Most people just forget one happened first as the other of Dabi’s murders are off screen or after overhaul. Point being, yeah most people I’ve talked to didn’t realize Toya was the first “on screen” murder.

Honestly, I know you are talking from a philosophical point of view to determine if he is as bad as people think and how the fire nation is as a nation, I want to touch briefly on how Ozai as a character being pure evil works intendedly for the narrative. If Ozai is pure evil, this works better for the story in many ways and what I think the writers were aiming for here. First, I think giving him nuance cuts down on how he is as a villain, sometimes you dont always need a nuanced character who is also a villain. ATLA clearly has many of that *See Zuko and Azula to a extent* he is not this sad villain who needs a arc to change, that's just not what they were aiming for here. He is a great depiction of dictators and how they work, in the eyes of many dictators and said by Sozin himself that they think they need to spread their "wealth and prosperity" with the rest of the nations. I like to see him as imperialism incarnate, if they made Ozai nuanced it would contradict his character and how dictators are like. Dictators are not those to just change over a course of a arc, they have ideals they stick by for the remainder of time and are very hard and cemented in stone. Ozai has no real need for change in his character, (albeit we never really see much from him though so to conclude that might be a bit of a stretch) he has not experienced loss or a need to change his entire beliefs. He works as a dictator and making him nuanced from a writing point of view might discredit that as he is supposed to be the everything wrong with the fire nation. He is the idealistic imperialist dictator, he just works like that. You might get this comment a lot but I just wanted to see how the story benefits from a Pure Evil antagonist as its centre piece of evil. He can also be used as a contrast to Zuko for his character arc, to see how much he has grown out of the fire nation's propaganda. He is underrated as a villain and seeing him from a narrative view is really cool and gives insight to how the war is. He is that, a dictator and allegorical example of the concept of it all.

Thank you for your thoughtful video. Your out-of-the-box thinking is impressive and appreciated. I hadn’t thought about Zuko’s Agni Kai challenge and banishment as you do, but you convinced me. OK for this point. However, I still think that Ozai being a good dad is still in conflict with other facts. I am referring to the last meeting with Azulon. Ozai asks his father to make him his successor to the throne since Iroh had lost his only son. Azulon, as a “good dad” replied that he would not betray Iroh, showing understanding towards Iroh’s loss. But he was not as good a grandfather as he was a father, so he ordered Ozai to do the unspeakable to Zuko, in this way, Ozai would be punished with the same pain as Iroh’s. Although Ozai was logically correct and eventually his own kids should have ended up being firelord anyway - maybe, I don’t know. On the day of the eclipse, Ozai admits to Zuko that he was about to do what his father told him, which is ending the life of his innocent son. This doesn’t sound like something a good dad would do. Even Azulon, son of Sozin and current fire lord, showed understanding towards Iroh who ceased his attack to Ba Sing Se and came back home without any victory. According to what Ozai was trying to teach to Zuko, that is fighting for someone’s own ideals and values , Ozai should have proposed to his father to resolve the conflict of opinions. I am not sure if this means that he should have challenged Iroh to an Agni Kai or what, but I’m sure that he should have fought for his goal, instead of accepting the decision to end Zuko’s life only for the sake of feeling the same way Iroh does. This doesn’t have any integrity or coherence with what Ozai expected Zuko to do or learn. We can also see the contrast of Azulon’s attitude towards Iroh’s defeat in Ba Sing Se and Ozai’s attitude towards Zuko’s defeat in the North Pole (Ozai orders Azula to take Iroh and Zuko as prisoners). If Ursa didn’t notice Azula in Zuko’s bedroom, we wouldn’t be talking about this. It was only for Ursa’s idea that Ozai turned from being a bad dad to a bad son. All in all, I believe that according to the fire nation standards, and according to what we watched in the series, in a scale of fatherhood from Ozai to Iroh, Azulon could be considered a good dad, while Ozai has a little to improve. But yes, Ozai was trying to teach a lesson to Zuko to nurture him and save him from being burned by a general but since we don’t have any parallels of what Azulon, Sozin, Iroh, Mai’s father, etc. would have done, I can’t say anything more because being good is something relative in a society. Thanks for reading all of this and great job! We really need more of these well-structured impartial analysis. This is so valuable!!

You make some fair points I hadn’t considered. I disagree on the pushback to Azulon point though. Ozai himself and the fire nation are centered around power, by lore Azulon is stated the most powerful firebender in history (pre comet) and by design as Sozin trained him to defeat an avatar. Ozai felt himself inferior to Iroh (he saw him as a rival) so I struggle to imagine him thinking himself superior to Azulon. so the idea that a “respect” oriented person such as ozai would dare argue with his father, the most powerful person in the world by status and by individual might. He spent a great deal of his on screen time teaching Zuko that lesson, the teacher flashback (“you were lucky to be born”), the throne room, Agni Kai, day of black sun I’m sure there’s more but those are off the top of my head. I can see the logical reason Ozai SHOULD object to Azulon just not the cultural precedent. Oh and I guess I disagree with North Pole “failure” I’d have to go back and see if anyone survived as a witness to Zuko’s assault of Admiral Zhao, to confirm his TREASON on that day. But Ozai arresting his son was damage control, he had allowed him to attempt to regain his honor and status through striking out at the world and achieving an impossible task. But the North Pole was a turning point, the avatar was now too powerful to entrust to his son, and his son’s master was a confirmed traitor, and zuko is a toss up…but we the audience know he is an inadvertent traitor, in his attempts to regain his honor he had “damaged” it further so to speak in that he had attacked an admiral acting on the fire lords orders. Sending azula a top 3 bender in the world to capture the avatar and arrest her uncle and brother was the logical move. She is strong enough to not immediately die if iroh fought her seriously and skilled enough to kill an avatar. His son’s honor was less valuable than winning the war. But otherwise again you made great points. I appreciate your time and discourse

Whats great about this is that he applies the logic of the world and the fire nation culture. He doesn't apply our understading and ideas of makes a good dad, but what would make a good dad in there world. And it works greatly, because a good dad in japan could be one who always provide for his children even if he isnt always in their lives, while in america a good day is there for their kids. Cultural differences affect what people judge is a good parent, and in the fire nation Ozai may have been very well that, a caring dad who wanted what was best and wanted to strengthen their son, so he did so through tough love, that by our standards is abuse but by fire nation standards is normal.

Yeah, probably. But honestly he would have regardless. Prime Sukuna vs Gojo…is a gojo stomp. If Sukuna didn’t offload the damage from infinity onto megumi’s soul, it was GGs. Afterward he had to run away and recover using megumi’s technique (ten shadows) and then lost a 3v1 and which was after (paraphrasing maybe) .10 seconds exposure to Gojo’s domain. He couldn’t use RCT And had no access to his CT. So base full power Sukuna in the same position gets clapped no contest he lost the hands battle while amped so no way is he winning in his base (full power four arms, no megumi’ body) the fight if you’d call it that lasts 30 seconds at best. And that’s not to mention what we saw was his performance WHILE reading the answer sheet that is Mahorag, he had NO way to answer infinity otherwise. Which again he only survived and was able to study off mahoraga in the first place thanks to megumi’s body. I’m looking into making time to study JJK in depth to see author intention and themes. But, good god is it not looking good for Sukuna on a single read through of every chapter.

As one of those "detractors" my main issue is that it should have been more fleshed out. There should have been a scene where Endeavors sitting in front of legal authorities, and they tell him that under normal circumstances he'd be persecuted, but due to the context, they have to put it off for later (which would have been bittersweet since Enji would have spent the second half of the series fighting for a society that he knows is gonna scapegoat him at the end of it all.). I also would think this would be a perfect opportunity for there to be drama in Hawks relationship, since it seems way too convenient that he spent his whole life looking up to Endeavor after being saved from his own abusive father. Some people from Endeavors agency leaving, not because they don't want to support him, but because it would be bad for their careers to be associated, would have also been a nice touch. Toya also shoulda had a convo with each of his other family members at some point, and having him explicitly call for Shotos/Endeavor's hero license to be revoked (like the petty little shit he is) also would have caused some drama; with the ultimatum being that he would fade into obscurity and never commit any crimes again if the hero's comply (which they don"t), and that can set off the retaliation prison breaks. I could add so much more but I'm not gonna rant longer. These things may seem small individually, but when you add them together it makes the story feel more whole. Same can be said for pretty much every other plotline, but I won't get into that.

I’m not gonna critique your ideal story, there are elements you suggest as improvements that I agree with and not, but the underlying theme I agree with completely. That being “the cast should have been allowed to sit and deal with ALL the ramifications of Dabi’s reveal”, which ultimately means we just needed more time. It’s really damn near indefensible the places where he did drop the ball, I’m not sure the extent that horikoshi listens to his critics but boy it sure felt at time like he got the initial backlash at the midpoint of the vigilante arc and was like, yeah I’m done and then just speed ran to the end of the series. Like I remember a bunch of “leaks” saying we were getting a time skip right around the time the criticism started in the vigilante arc then they gradually disappeared. Of course they could have just been wrong, or horikoshi changed his mind naturally or hell Shonen Jump could have started leaning on him. Whatever the case it felt like he pressed fast forward on the series and only kept the core elements of the story that NEEDED to be there functionally and it really hurt the series. I am going to talk about this in part 4 but for now I will say that the hawks endeavor element was complicated. He seemed to be having a crisis about dabi’s reveal and endeavor both internally at the time, and it suggested to me that his indifference towards endeavor was just an act, to keep endeavor from retiring or self deleting both of which are implied by endeavors hospital scenes, and they did need him as victory would be impossible otherwise. Anyways I appreciate your time and passion! I’ve never taken issue with genuine criticism, and yours are well founded.

Man… it honestly points out why I can’t exactly say I that I believe it to be a very good series. The darkness of the narrative just wasn’t given enough time to sit there with me. A couple of chapters could makes the heroes’s actions be much more impactful to the narrative to me personally. Honestly a fair criticism, one I share in part the darker elements needed more time to breathe and sit with us and the cast. But yeah I wasn’t trying to break new ground with this video it was targeted at the people who missed the indirect story telling or the somewhere around 5 million people I have seen gobbling up videos that pretend MHA had nothing to say. Which obviously isn’t true, sure horikoshi struggled to tell his story in an obvious way that was satisfying but pretending this was an empty series about nothing as most of the anime KZbinrs have latched onto for easy engagement is the reason I made this. And same I hope he continues working, horikoshi has a brilliant mind that should keep producing, and with an aggressive editor he trusts forcing him stay on target I think he easily could be among the greats with anything he produces. …Flash forward 8 years and he is writing reverse harem manga.

Everything else aside Deidara vs Gaara isn't as clean cut as people pretend. Yeah Deidara played dirty to win, but that doesn't mean in a lethal match up Deidara loses. He's a guy who's whole deal is explosions which are fairly lethal and he has to catch people alive. He wasn't able to pull out C4 against Gaara because of this. Basically Deidara might not beat Gaara although I can't guarantee Gaara beats Deidara at least at the time they fight.
@tendoentiendo
@tendoentiendo 2 ай бұрын
Oh lordt sometimes I forget the videos that started this channel. If I remember (didn’t look…too cringe) I downplayed deidara to make fun of Sasuke. But TBH deidara is massively underrated. His speed (in the air) scales to Anoki…who out performed V2 raikage against the Madara clones. V2 Raikage got boxed up with susanoo hands and Anoki was doing better despite being less durable…so he get hit less is the conclusion. And he even destroyed the most clones. And while deidara’s AP leaves a bit to be desired when compared to the top tiers it’s nothing to sneeze at. He’s cracked for sure. I think they were both handicapped by their initial setting. Gaara is restrained and defensive because he knows they run in pairs (he should know he is the head of a village and a target) and one misstep or opening could spell his death and the death of his clansmen. As such he burns through massive amounts of chakra in his “ultimate defense” sphere we know it burns a lot because we are told so in the chunin exams and I think it’s mentioned again during the fight. Then has to fight a kage level threat with the nerf and protect his village at the same time. And deidara for what you said, can’t go all out in case it’s too much for Gaara. So I see this any of 3 ways: easy win Gaara High did win deidara Or landslide Gaara. Reason being, whether he beats gaara or not in a fair fight depends on how strong Gaara got between his loss and 5 kage summit where his sand blitzes V2 raikage and sasuke. Which ultimately depends on “Did edo tensei make deidara weaker or stronger” if it made him weaker he should be as fast or faster than Anoki in base alive form (makes sense narratively) in which case Gaara didn’t get much stronger and should win in a fair fight with no distractions or handicaps, because if he ever downs or slightly maims a single of deidaras flying clay the speed difference is too massive. Without them deidara is slower than hebi sasuke (who is actually amped and stronger than most think but almost certainly weaker and unquestionably slower than 5 kage summit regardless of the amount of wank scaling you can give him) meanwhile the sand is a light timer. A single opening spells death for deidara. However, If edo made him stronger (it did for some though mostly those with health or age handicaps) then Gaara must have gotten massively faster between his initial loss and 5 kage summit. In which case Gaara sand is not a light timer yet. And this leaves Deidara holding a minor to nonexistent edge in speed in the air (he has the edge in acceleration not top speed as we see in their fight) and could win HIGH diff at best with good strategy. As a single opening doesn’t guarantee death and he is more than lethal as we’ve seen. So More or less the same outcome regardless of setting. But if we provide intel say in a rematch format again no interference I don’t think it’s close in either case (whether Gaara got massively faster/stronger or not) Gaara can use lightning style sand bullets and Deidara has no counter. And their speeds are either massively in favor of Gaara (or almost even in the air but still favoring Gaara) and now Gaara can nullify his only win condition. I know that’s a lot but I’ve had a couple drinks and got carried away…not too dissimilar to how I made the video in the first place lol.

@@tendoentiendo your arguments are quite strong, by the time the kage summit hits I'd probably also give Gaara the win, but I think in a all out fight at the start of Shippuden I believe Deidara has a good chance. But honestly I just made the comment as I feel people heavily simplify their first fight down to "Deidara cheated to win" which is true. But kinda annoying. Came from the Dabi video and was not disappointed. This is really well put together so I'm definitely subscribing for that alone. The sections on the light in their eyes was wonderful. I'd never noticed it, but it's clear Hori puts focus on it in the same way he does with hands. As for stars and stripes your section didn't really convince me it was needed. If we're speaking in a utilitarian way. The lost quirk of reflect was introduced in that fight. Your clip you showed for the quirk doesn't indicate reflect to me. It did show quirk revolts, but I just think that could have been shown elsewhere same with ShiggyFO (or is it AFOshiggy?). Your section on the switching of mannerisms between Shigaraki and AFO was really good. I never considered it before and it makes me like AFO more (so basically from a 1 to a 2 lol). I can't agree on AFO orchestrating Shigaraki's whole life being a good decision especially in relation to his quirk. I don't think any of the themes you mentioned were damaged by Shigaraki being a product of a fucked society rather then 1 dude. That really comes back to my eternal issue with AFO and the end of MHA. Him being this schemer who molded entire lives is just not interesting to me. I don't think the final battle enforces any change in society that comes about after in relation to Deku at least. It's said in the epilogue a few times how Deku showed society a way forward, but I really don't get how he specifically did that in the final encounter with AFO. Shiggy being "redeemed" is great same with his hero to the villiand moment. This got ranting and disjointed at some point. TLDR. -Great video -Fuck AFO -Shiggy as the absolute final opponent post AFO death would have been my preferred option

12:56 I'm turning on notifications 28:00 Shigaraki and Deku surpassed All Might so idk where you're getting this "not even close" from We got like 10 separate statements in and out of verse that Shiggy = All Might and then he became stronger, and ofc Deku is just outright using 120% of OFA while All Might used 100% of a slightly weaker OFA Idk what everyone's obsession is with All Might being the permanent pinnacle of the verse. That is very clearly NOT Horikoshi's intent, otherwise he wouldn't have written in multiple statements of All For One, Best Jeanist, Deku, Endeavor, Hawks, etc. outright saying otherwise. Other than that this video is cooking 100%
@tendoentiendo
@tendoentiendo 2 ай бұрын
So I disagree with Deku being stronger for what I think are fair reasons. A. A theme for Deku and shigaraki being: their future and potential unfairly taken from them. B. We have feats that contradict Deku>all might. The second punch all might ever threw in the series summoned a storm when no clouds were visible unto the horizon. Dekus hardest punch is reasonably the one that killed shigaraki, and it parted the clouds a feat endeavor is capable of achieving. These feats are different in orders of magnitude in all mights favor. Also All might was capable of exceeding 100% but worse still is that the statements (to my knowledge) are made by Deku who A hasn’t seen prime all might and b the one he has was was either getting his force negated or was holding back unto the point he had no power left in him at all. Additionally, horikoshi says that dekus statements on his power and the names of his attacks are hyperbolic meaning non literal so we ought not use them for scaling. Of course the storm summoning against the slime in the first chapter could just be the case of the author not realizing what he was drawing, that it was absolutely insane the feats all might achieved while holding back and while out of steam. Additionally, shigarakis durability is less than a howitzer impact (and nagant bullets). And lastly I don’t think Deku was faster in his fight against shigaraki than he was versus overhaul. While Mach 5 is impressive, against overhaul at unlimited 100% he moved so fast the wind pressure he generated vaporized concrete and steel which should be low relativistic as that’s like .24 megatons per cubic feet of steel destroyed (haven’t done the math in a while so that that figure is from memory) and there’s like 10 meters. And he did it on accident trying to jump a few meters. Not every author is thinking in terms of math like Gege (Jjk) but horikoshi pays so much attention to detail that it leads me to believe it wasn’t an accident. And the Deku that fought shigi is quirk stacking to momentarily reach levels all might could stay in perpetually. All of which leads me to believe All might is stronger than Deku. Not that he necessarily beats him in a fight but in pure power. Oh and if the stat difference is 120% to 100 then all might still hits harder ignoring feats. Because f=MHA and all might outweighs Deku by 430is lbs because Deku would have to be outputting 4.3x all might minimum and that’s before accounting for height difference and the additional speed and acceleration a 7ft tall man would have. As the acceleration of the top of an arc (say a right hook) is faster when the radius is longer. There’s a lot of reasons is my point.
@Your7T7
@Your7T7 2 ай бұрын
@@tendoentiendo The main issues with what you just said is that you said that the statements about Shiggy's power are from Deku when... they aren't... as well as ignoring Deku's feats which surpass All Might. 1. All For One in Shiggy's body gives 3 separate statements of Shiggy equaling All Might (one where he says "witness power equal to All Might's", one where he says "use your heads, that wouldn't have killed All Might, it can't kill me", and another just comparing himself/Shiggy to All Might). Best Jeanist says that Shiggy is as fast as Prime All Might. Endeavor says that Shiggy's power is "like All Might's". Hawks's Villain Report (written by Horikoshi) just outright states that Shiggy is physically equal to Prime All Might. 2. Deku's final punch against AFO, as well as Deku and Bakugo's Double Detroit Smash in Heroes Rising, are both FAAAARRRRR stronger feats than the one you listed for All Might. Deku's final punch managed to create lasting strong winds all the way in AMERICA, and Deku/Bakugo's punch in Heroes Rising split a storm THE SIZE OF AN ENTIRE ISLAND wide open, clearing it completely, while All Might created just one storm in one city. Even if we only account for Deku performing half of the latter feat, that is still FAAAAR above what All Might did.
@tendoentiendo
@tendoentiendo 2 ай бұрын
I’ll start with point 2 ya got me on the American winds being a more impressive feat (almost certainly I won’t do the math but they sound more impressive intuitively lol) straight up just a gap in my knowledge. Also, I wasn’t aware of the canonicity of the films or any of their feats but, energy required to summon clouds is vastly greater than parting clouds. I’m unfamiliar with the movie or what the scene composition was but if it’s a sky clearer or nearly (and the storm is bigger as you say) then yeah it’s probably a better feat (to almighty holding back in the middle of a city trying not to damage anything or anyone around him). but you said it was Deku and Bakugo so divide the feat in half if you have the number already on hand. Note: I must have missed the panel saying the wind from the punch was felt in America (but I believe you) but at the same time the winds changing in America had already started on account of Dabi going Chernobyl. There is panels saying as much, a weather lady as I recall. Anyways It’s kind of nebulous to try and differentiate the extent to which the winds changed on account of the punch alone. Point being it had help. But again if what you say is true about the movies. Ya probably got me still because I’m unwilling to do the math (anytime soon) and your feats sound better sight unseen. But on the first point just to clarify. I was referring to dekus own statements regarding his own power being dismissible. I wasn’t suggesting he made some about shigi. But if he does it’s the same thing. However, as to statements made by AFO and or shigi and their own power equaling or surpassing all might: I don’t know who said what or when, so I’d have to see the panel Font and the iris of shigaraki as to determine the speaker. (Because for the most part those are the characteristics horikoshi uses to differentiate the one in control.) But in either case there statements are kind of useless as well but more if it’s shigi and less useless if it’s AFO. But on that note AFO and all might had the same power dynamic as Shigaraki and Deku. Where at will the OFA user could kill the AFO user, Deku ,I think out right, says it regarding shigi and all might suggests it (he might state it but I can only recall an implication) when he scolds himself for not having the resolve to kill AFO and for holding back for too long both in the past and in their fight when he loses his quirk. In both cases All might held back until the point his body was on the brink of death and then one shot AFO. Point being AFO cannot make claims to knowledge of All might at max power when he only ever saw him hold back and try with nothing in the tank. Because in the splits seconds that all might didn’t hold back (but was wounded beyond any reasonable person thinking he was remotely near full power) the gap between them in power was such that it gave AFO PTSD unironically. But again, if what you say is true regarding the sky clearing of a bigger storm, and its canonicity, I concede (well technically I do whether you are right or wrong because I won’t go check). You may well be right too on the winds in America feat…but again I’ll take it at face value because i am unwilling to do the math to find the difference between his wind and dabi’s. But either way it was fun thinking about this, maybe when my plate isn’t so full I might give an honest look into what you had to say and math it out myself. I appreciate your time and passion, genuinely.

@Your7T7

I would try linking each of the panels but KZbin dislikes it when I do that. I'll instead put the chapters and page numbers here: Chapter 340, page 4: "It is clear that Shigaraki Tomura has well surpassed AFO in terms of strength." (important, as weakened AFO was stated and shown multiple times in the Kamino Ward battle to be on par with weakened All Might, meaning Tomura has "well surpassed" weakened All Might) Chapter 346, page 9: "Extremely lethal long range attacks and a speed on par with All Might in his prime. It was quite the challenge to come up with a way to deal with you." Chapter 276, page 8: "That kind of strength... It's like..." (with All Might in the bg); this statement is immediately said to be wrong by Garaki, who says "It's not on par with All Might himself, of course! Excessive modifications to the body take a toll on the brain!" however, Chapter 277, page 5: "He's got the same strength and toughness as All Might." Deku does not argue with this statement, saying "All... Might..." this is important, because the manga at this point did not care to make distinctions between weakened All Might and Prime All Might. It would only make sense if Garaki (who was alive and working for AFO in Prime All Might's time, with AFO being the only one who'd have a proper estimate of Prime All Might's power) is referring to Prime All Might while Endeavor and Deku (who have little frame of reference for Prime All Might's power) are referring to Weakened All Might. Otherwise, these statements all exist in immediate proximity to one another and are purposefully contradictory for seemingly no reason. Chapter 359, page 8/9: "Now... who was the genius that thought the best course of action against me was to get up close and personal? The only thing that's gonna get ya... is a firsthand taste of what it's like... to be smashed by a power that rivals All Might!" Chapter 362, page 4: "Think about it for a sec...! Do you really think... that would've been enough... to kill All Might in his prime? HOW DELUSIONAL... CAN YOU BE?!" This statement only makes sense if he himself is on par with All Might in his prime, otherwise he's saying "ha! those anti-tank rounds can't even blow up a house! Why would you think they can blow up my shoes?!" Hawks's Villain Report File 1: "PHYSICAL ABILITY On par with All Might in his heyday! (displayed next to a picture of All Might)" I'm not entirely sure I agree with the notion that All Might was holding back against AFO back in their original match 5 years ago (especially since All Might was clearly extremely pissed at him for murdering the woman he considered his mother right in front of his eyes), but I do see where you're coming from. However, even if we claim that AFO doesn't know for sure, we have to think about Horikoshi's intent when writing all of these statements. For example, Hawks's Villain Report exists for the express META PURPOSE of providing info on all the villains for the fans. Why would Hori even have the claim that Shiggy = Prime All Might on the page if that's not what was intended? And I can concede that I forgot that Dabi contributed to that before as well, but given that they have the weather report lady talk about the continued strong winds with a smile after Deku's final punch, it can be inferred that it's probably referring to said punch (as it wouldn't make much narrative sense to suddenly start talking about a fight that ended a while ago). Finally, yes, the films are 100% canon thanks to the many many many appearances of film characters in the main manga, as well as Horikoshi's own word. We directly see Nine in the manga, as well as the kids from Heroes Rising. Melissa Shield from Two Heroes is shown and stated on-screen to be the one who built Armored All Might, and Cathleen Bate is shown to be one of the children All Might saves during the Two Heroes prologue short film. Rody Soul from World Heroes Mission even has a speaking role in the manga encouraging Deku. The only film to not get direct acknowledgement in the manga is You're Next, and that's only because it released after the manga finished (and even then, we got a bonus chapter connecting it to the main story). Also, yeah this was a fun convo for sure. Sorry for the long reply, but I have to actually write out the pages and statements myself for clarity instead of making you hunt them down by hand

I really don't agree with the idea that Endeavor should just get a pass because there's a bigger threat. What this man did was genuinely horrible, and he shouldn't just get a pass because one of his victims became a supervillain while he's trying to be a better person. If anything, this just proves Dabi right in his actions. The ideals of heroism don't work if the thing that determines whether you face justice or not is how powerful you are as a person. If Endeavor really cared then he'd make a public statement that he'd serve his time after the crisis is over, or that he'd be retiring while still working under someone else. What this is basically saying is that a corrupt cop whose committed horrible crimes should stay on the force as long as they regret it, and as long as they're good at their job. Of course people aren't going to be moved by that because it really does set a terrible precedent that is ACTUALLY harmful to society outside of big speeches about rot or consumerism or whatever, like the series loves to do.

Dawg I have no idea where you got any of those interpretations from my work aside from “Dabi was right”. I don’t suggest endeavor should be forgiven, nor that he should “get a pass” and especially not because his son is a supervillain. What I DO suggest is that A. Endeavor did not get off without penance (he gives an arm, the surface of his face and head as well as his liver/other internal organs) in service to the world. B. He thinks his penalty should be death. After Dabi’s dance He explicitly believed the character endeavor should die after the dance. But was convinced to get up and do his duty (save everyone) by his wife and hawks. C. There is a logical reason that endeavor isn’t explicitly rejected by his peers. It is not negligence to pursue justice. Nor negligence to write a story well. the heroes don’t explicitly Reject endeavor because they need him, he is a cloud parter, atom bomb level in AP, and the only hero outside of Deku who could reasonably hope to fight and win against AFO or shigaraki. They, the heroes, are already at an extreme disadvantage why would they get rid of (force to retire) the only person they know who can save them? His situation is not that of cop, because his story is more grand. He is the only person who can fight AFO, a world ending threat. He isn’t one of the 10,000 who could do the job as it is with cops in a major city. He is one of 2 that can do the job, and the job needs to happen simultaneously hundreds of miles apart from each other. So they need him. D. You use the word crime, but in truth I don’t think he is “guilty” of any. Between statute of limitations on child abuse (which he could get the claims dropped as he was training his son in hero work) and domestic violence. Not to mention the fact Japan doesn’t recognize and has NEVER convicted a man of spousal r*pe unless they have broken up, or legally filed for divorce before the incident took place, this is why I called him a “quasi” r*pist. Because it’s implied, not stated and that’s just to the reader through Dabi’s memories, to my recollection Dabi doesn’t share that part of his life with anyone and even if it is true, it isn’t a crime where it it happened. Point being I suggested only of the things you said, that being Dabi was right, otherwise my only claims where that there is a logical reason to endeavor not being rejected and forced to retire. And an entire penance and redemption narrative wherein endeavor tries to kill himself.
@tendoentiendo
@tendoentiendo 2 ай бұрын
…Oh and for the record the penalty for domestic abuse (assault) is often 2 years community service with or without imprisonment and 500,000yen ($3k) fine or just a fine. Endeavors service was greater than the punishment the law would have given him if not for statute of limitations 10 years. Shoto was five when his mom burned him he is 16 at end of series (before time skip) so the last beating of his wife is at least 11 years prior. It’s not a matter of regret it’s a matter of the crime is not a crime, it’s a fault in his morals. And judging the man for his “crimes” (well they literally were crimes, but you get the point, crimes no longer applicable) is to condemn the world to a certain doom.

@@tendoentiendo Point C really gets to the heart of what I'm talking about. They're NOT Pursuing Justice. There's a horrible monster that did awful things to his own family in the name of Eugenics RIGHT THERE! Even YOU admit that Domestic Abuse is a crime, and domestic rape should ALSO be a crime! Both of these things are completely irreprehensible and should be taken way more seriously! Like I said, he's just able to walk free and get away because he is powerful. He doesn't suffer because he faces actual justice. He suffers because he gets injured in the line of duty. You know, just like Deku and All Might. Being wounded by a supervillain or being powerful doesn't absolve you of your crimes , they're just normal parts of the job. If there was a cop that SA'd his wife and both physically and emotionally abused his family then the fact that he's a good cop that gets hurt in the line of duty. They still SHOULD face actual consequences for their actions outside of what their usual dangerous job listing entails. Again. The only reason you're saying he should get to walk is BECAUSE he is powerful. That is pretty indefensible from a moral perspective. It's one thing to delay actual justice. It's another thing to say he should get a pass because "at least he tries hard and we need him right now". But at least that cop was really strong and did a lot of good while policing, right? So that absolves everything.

All of the others she was still happy to hold them having a soft smile on her face except for Shoto. It would also provide a very good reason for her insanity because how you portray insanity in media is that it has to come from something major and life changing. Being r**ed by her husband would be more than enough and her breakdown was fueled by that constant reminder via Shoto to that event. Honestly solid theory there that I could 100% see as the intention.

Good note, solid input, I'll keep "speak English better" in my back pocket lol. But I'll let you in on a secret...I left them in on purpose. I even drew attention to the fact that it was mispronounced in the video with a caption and in the closed captions. as soon as I said it, I reread the line with correct pronunciation. then in the edit didn't like my inflection on the on the line so I kept the error on purpose. there's more than one there should be 4. Then I thought "wouldn't it be fitting to keep my errors in this video?", it'd be subtle bit of subliminal story telling that none but the absolutely insane would notice. Thus the 3 mispronounced words and a throat clearing were left in despite otherwise having relatively good editing. you should pay obsessive levels of attention to my every mistake, bordering on schizophrenic. And when you do you will find enlightenment, well I won't promise that, but you will find that there is storytelling methods embedded in my last 4 videos via editing that I don't mention in the slightest and parallel the topic or underlying theme of the video. this one was about acceptance of your children and the subject was a character that rejected his 3 "mistakes" while the fourth got off to a rough start it but was his jewel as too was everything after my clearing of my throat to me. ...now comes the question, did I just make that up, or am serious?

I love this video but I just want to get one thing correct here. There are 2 characters that have surpassed All Might in terms of sheer power, and another who matched his strength. The two characters in question being Shigaraki and Deku, whereas the one who matched All Might's strength was Prime AFO. Shigaraki already has numerous statements saying he's as physically strong as prime All Might and his quirk alongside decay gives him the edge over All Might fairly easily. Deku has several statements indicating that he could kill Shigaraki if he desired and has shown clear dominance over Shigaraki when at full power, who we know is a physical-equal to All Might already. AFO is the reason All Might is in his terrible condition so saying he isn't even close to prime All Might in terms of power is literal delusion since it was a 1v1, not a jumping. That's about all.
@tendoentiendo
@tendoentiendo 2 ай бұрын
Yeah I’m gonna rebuttal. The second punch that all might ever threw in the series vs the slime monster summoned a storm when no clouds were visible on the horizon and that while fatigued past his limits and restraining himself as to not damage the environment (he succeeded). DEKU has statements he made himself that he is as strong as All Might in his prime. But he doesn’t know what his peaks are for one because he has literally never seen them, the only times he saw something similar is again all might past his time limit and fighting a force negating quirk so the only force we can see is that which exceeded the capacity of the nomu to negate and regenerate from. and the other is where he couldn’t fight AT ALL(because it was in the middle of an un evacuated city), and had to allow himself to be beaten to a pulp and almost completely lose his quirk before he could throw a single punch which one shot AFO. Beating a dead horse but on top of that horikoshi says that Deku speaks in hyperbole when he names his attacks and refers to his powers “because he’s a kid trying to make himself excited” (slight paraphrase) which undercuts every statement he makes. Additionally Deku MUST quirk stack to momentarily reach levels that all might could stay in perpetually if he wanted. Deku’s strongest ever demonstrated punch (by feat) is the one that killed shigaraki and it was a cloud parter. The gap between cloud parting and cloud summoning is energy difference in orders of magnitude. For reference endeavor accomplished a similar feat when he defeated AFO before his rewind. I’m not saying that all might could beat shigaraki…but he is slower than nagant and has durability lower than a howitzer impact and one nagant bullet. Reread the fights. There’s a ton of anti feats for shigaraki. And his OWN statements that he is stronger when his demonstrated feats are lower is not a strong argument. Oh and even if you could find moments to make the claim he can move as fast or faster than all might (I’m sure you could because of gear shift), all might outweighs him by about 430lbs and is 7 ft tall and thus has greater levers to generate force. But removing levers, F=MA, all might hits harder if they are swinging at the same speed and even if they are relative so unless the speed gap is proportionally larger than All mights Weight differential you cannot make the claim Deku is stronger because statements, when we have feats and physics that would suggest otherwise. Of course if you could put Deku at 4.25 x all might speed and the fact he can use his entire body at 100% where Deku is a body part at a time…plus calculate the difference of rotation speed at tip of arc (if arms are moving at identical speed say a hook all mights heaver body is moving at a speed faster than dekus in proportion to the radius of his arm) you could claim that gear shift Deku punches harder than standard punch all might. But then theirs the whole clouds feat for both of them that still must be addressed. Which there is nothing to account for the gap when we know the durability of shigaraki body is nagant bullet level. Could he win in a fight is a different argument one in sure you could infer, But I specifically referred to power and all mights power is just greater. He can spam punches like the one he felt in episode one in his prime it takes Deku everything he has to do what he did, though in fairness he was in an all might at start of series level debuff at the time he did it. Anyways, I genuinely appreciate you taking the time to engage and I’m glad you enjoyed the video

Oh and Prime AFO wasn’t an equal, it was a Deku shigaraki situation. All might scolds himself for holding back against AFO resulting in his injury. AFO says it too and is constantly trying to gode all might into going all out. The gap in their power it gave AFO PTSD…unironically.
@tendoentiendo
@tendoentiendo 2 ай бұрын
Tbh I haven’t done the math for it yet, but I believe based on feats the fastest Deku has ever moved might be against overhaul. The shockwaves from the air when he jumped vaporized concrete in like a 10m radius (30ish ft) which is better than anything he has in the war arc off the top of my head for speed. He is easy hypersonic in the war but that’s not remotely in the ball park to vaporize concrete and steel at a distance (that ought to be around relativistic speed) which he did on accident while trying to jump a few feet. so it wasn’t even his peak. Point being we never got a full power Deku, theoretically he would have been leagues above all might if he had been given time to grow but I don’t think that’s the story we got. As to if it’s on purpose or not is up for debate, but based off of the attention to detail horikoshi gave even in chapter one that held true to the end I doubt it was accidental. Unless he was just bad at math and didn’t realize how insane summoning a storm with a held back punch really is mathematically. Of course most mangaka aren’t giving Gege levels of effort in their in-verse power scaling but it sure seems incredibly consistent that Deku never reached his peak and what he did was below what he should have been capable of, which again leads me to believe it’s intentional that Deku never reached his potential and is below all might in pure power from what we see (overhaul excluded, though I should do the math and analyze the narrative to confirm), Sorry I’m going on, but I seldom have a chance to talk about these things. And and it’s an unusual moment when power scaling and narrative overlap which coincidentally are my favorite things in literature. Edit: I checked some of the math to vaporize 1m3 of steel it takes .22 megatons. The wind would have had to generate 14.666 times the energy released in Hiroshima to just destroy some of the steel, let alone the conceete. And it was the accidental energy released by a Jump intended to be a few feet. Honestly this might make a fun video idea, because these numbers are ridiculous. And it’d be fun just to see where the series lies in the power scale universe.

I had a whole passage written but I was fucked over by misfortune so now I have to write it all over again... WHICH I'M NOT GONNA CAUSE FUCK THAT! Instead, I'm going to summarize why I believe Deku has surpassed All Might and why Shigaraki matches All Might's power physically. The storm-summon punch gets out-performed in the USJ dome since he's clearly exerting more effort and he also gives a generous statement that gives us a baseline (300 punches / 5 punches = 60x stronger, yadayada) for how strong Prime All-Might should be. This is important because, although we don't get an exact number, all of the near-high-end and High-end Nomu such as Hood (Season 4, the one Endeavor defeats) are stated to be much stronger than the upper-tier Nomu that All Might fought in the USJ dome. Even lower tier characters such as Iida is capable of combating these Nomus (Albeit with assistance, during S6 and beyond that point). Shigaraki, even when incomplete and much weaker than he would become soon after, was stated to be the ultimate Nomu and is easily able to manhandle everyone at that point in time without his quirks. Endeavor even compares incomplete Shigaraki's natural speed to All Might's - the one who was the most obsessed with All Might, after AFO. He was then stated to have speed on par with Prime All-Might by Best Jeanist during the USJ Coffin-In-The-Sky in while Deku was still separated from them. AFO (when in control of Shigaraki's body in the CITS) was repeatedly stating how this body was on par with All-Might's prime, and Hawks' Villain Report Guidebook (which is written by Horikoshi himself) states that Shigaraki's physical prowess is on par with All-Might's own back in his heyday. Also, note how the ONLY attack that damaged him (Bakugo's FULL POWER Howitzer Impact, before Deku's arrival) barely even made him flinch nor did he treat it as anything note-worthy. Everything else only barely slowed him down without any lasting damaging. Nagant's bullets caught him off guard and he was weakened, so that's not a valid anti-feat. Also, Nagant's bullets have been stated by Deku himself that a Howitzer Shot is NOTHING compared to one of Nagant's bullets. Just so you know, Shigaraki takes a bullet to the head in the same instance his hand is shot off, so it's clear his hands were just weak at the time. Deku's greatest feat CLEARED THE SKIES from an UNPRECEDENTEDLY LARGE STORM CLOUD caused by the Todoroki's and caused STRONG WINDS to occur in America for OVER A WEEK. Don't downplay my goat. Deku could do the same as All Might can if he used Black-Whip while at 100% to mitigate the damage to his body or even to manually control it like how he did after Shigaraki took Danger-Sense and then stack Gear-Shift + Fa-Jin ontop of that. Shit's busted fr.
