Playing this for our assessment concert (preparing extra hard for it, hence why we got it in winter) I'm so glad that I'm a percussionist

Same! I am actually a middle schooler playing with high school for the second time, and I’m super excited to play this with them.

I’m playing this for my December concert. Being a bass clarinet and playing a part with the flute blows my mind. Like, I have never really had to play the high register and now I suddenly have to? It’s so cool and I’m so excited for it.

Wow! This is the best performance of this piece I've ever heard, including the one I was a part of. It gave me chills. Raw and passionate.

Semi-sight reading this as a high school to play with a nearby middle school, as they’re doing this piece. I’m the bass clarinet (part 4) and I can say this piece is, pretty fun. Sad I only will be playing it one day to help out a nearby band (it’s something or high school top band is doing lol). There’s really only one challenging fingering that happens twice, but other than that pretty straightforward ^^

I must tell you all so.mething.. In December of 1977, I was a member of the Victoria High School Band from Victoria, Texas, USA. We were the first group to perform Kaddish at the Midwest Clinic in Chicago, Illinois. The conductor,. W. Francis McBeth himself conducted our performance of his own composition. The world premier of the work had come a few months earlier, by the Richardson Texas High School Band. Your passion, expression and intonation are so excellently executed. I remember playing this piece at Midwest, and all of our hair on our neck was standing on edge, the last third of the piece, leading into the gradual crescendo to fortissimo. I've never felt that since then on this piece, until now!!! I felt like I was in the stage 45 years ago. Congratulations!!! Bravo!!

I don’t understand why they played the music so fast. It seemed like they were going well beyond the 160 bbm in the last section of the song. Not to mention the duet was almost crushed by the sound of the percussion

It seems like the percussion section picked the tempo up in their soli section... not sure if that was intentional.

@@makiing_thiings7212it’s the point of music. You’ll have different tempo changes throughout songs sometimes. One measure you’ll be slow and joyful, next you’ll be fast and energetic. It’s the love about music that makes it 10x better

@@syxph3ri agree. it should’ve started off a little bit more slower. although it was really good, the end picked up so much that it didn’t really feel like the gist of the song. it ended up feeling more like a suspenseful composition or something. the song was meant to have energy and emphasis, not only speed. it sped though so fast that the clarinet eighth notes near the end were barely heard.
