😬😬 roofer here, not a bad job until you didn’t flash it or replace the damaged shingles…that “flashing” is just peel and stick ice and water shield that provides as a secondary waterproof barrier…but should not act as the primary waterproofing. Any water that runs down the skylight is shooting straight under your shingles below and will cause water damage. You need the metal flashing kit that uses step flashing on the sides, kicks the water out and down over the shingles below. That requires new shingles that get installed between each step flashing piece. It’s been two years since you posted this video…how has it performed? Any leaks? Have you checked your plywood decking below the skylight? Thanks for showing me how the build out in the attic of a skylight goes!

You have a good eye, and you are correct. What I didn't film was the roofer I hired afterwards, who did install ice shield, and additional step flashing. We also replaced a larger section of shingles around the area as they were near end of life. There were no issues afterwards. I did end up selling this house a year later and still no issues. Thank you for watching and the comments. Hopefully it adds value to the next viewer. Cheers!

What I found was as long as all cut edges are repainted with their product, I saw no degradation. If left untreated, as was the case with a few spare pieces I had left over, then the water did get into the board. Two years later and there was no issues. I would definitely use the product again. Thanks for watching and the comments.

Looks phenomenal! I really admire your skill set. We have a brick house with real stone accent. We want to keep the brick but replace stone with vertical board and batten. Is it possible to have a company install over the stone or does it need to be removed?

I think it would have been easier using a circular saw from on top of the roof. I would just drill 4 holes from the inside on each corner of the hole you want to cut, then go on the roof and pull out the circular saw. No sawdust falling in your hair and eyes that way and a lot faster and save your other saw for harder jobs.
@fireandlemon131

I see your point. I suppose doing it from the inside was just a choice since I had the rafter to remove and lines traced onto underside of roof. But thanks for the advise, will consider it next time. Thanks for watching!

I followed your video instructions and made some homemade Tonic Syrup. It turned out perfect, however, I have a question: I would like to make my own soda water using my Soda Stream. I will be carbonating the water in 1 quart bottles, and then add the Tonic Syrup to the bottles after carbonation, so my question is, "How much Tonic Syrup should I add to the one quart of soda water to be within safe limits as to the amount of quinine in the syrup.?"

So you showed making the sugar syrup but you didn't show if you are suppose to combine it with the tonic extract. Does it need to be combined warm, cold.....??? Also the recipe doesn't mention the sugar syrup either, you know you can edit the recipe and add the lemon grass and the instructions how to combine the sugar syrup don't you? Other than those questions this looks like a great recipe for seasonal drinks in the cold and flu season.

@@fireandlemon131 You have an interesting channel, do you plan on making anymore videos? If you are I was thinking of subscribing. I made a simple quinine tonic water extract on my channel just using grapefruit and lemon peelings. It was for the cold and flu season more so than for making G&T mixed drinks though. But I think the spruce tea extract I made worked a little better than the quinine extract. I was thinking about combing them in a future video for possibly an even more effective home remedy?
