Exactly ! I learned the hard way on this.. I tried. A unisex shop instead of a barber ..was first time getting my hair washed in a salon .. I was 19… the lady that washed and cut my hair was rather elderly , in her 70s I think she was an old school beautician - a bit awkward for me. But the sink wasn’t tilting , it was older equipment , blue cast iron with deep head /neck notch . There was a good “seal” around my neck. She put a neck strip and towel around my neck. So, I thought with her being an older lady and shampooing a guy, I’d help and lifted up and turned my head as she was rinsing me and got wet down on my neck from the hose sprayer .. I got a polite scolding from her to relax , keep my head back and don’t lift or turn my head that she will do that ..

This is what I understand that we must plan to dye our hair. 1) wash hair with no conditioner 2) 24 hours later dye hair 3) rinse dye off only with water Do not wash with shampoo. 4) air dry without blow drying it 5) 24 hours shampoo and put conditioner!

What should I do if I am at a salon or in an environment where I have dreams, goals and aspirations but the owner and fellow stylists don’t support me in things I want to grow in? Like they say they support my growth and want me to grow, but when I say I want to bring in models to practice extensions/create content they tell me I shouldn’t be doing that. Or they tell me that bc my prices are slightly higher than theirs, they tell me no one is going to want to come to me? Or the owner won’t let us have assistants? I don’t want to have to change salons all the time looking for a supportive team, I want to create success for myself but feel restricted and judged where I am

I was always wondering what is the difference because I had a my hair done the other day and they did a beautiful job but they turned me ash blonde and it was supposed to be what you see here in the profile photo. Now my skin looks like it has a tan even though I have the same makeup and all my makeup is clashing with the color and I hate it even though she did a beautiful job putting in the color and foils it just looks horrible. Tomorrow they are fixing it with "glaze" and I was worried they were giving me a watered down version of a really expensive service. But now I see it will be ok and I don't have to go in scared. The salon said they want me to LOVE IT and will correct it. But I was worried that they were trying to cheat and do a cheap toner and nothing else. So this helps me know what is going on. :) THANK YOU!!!

How about NO TIP--We are already paying for the fee that you have set up. That you deemed was fair for your labor. Why should we be expected to pay more. I personally think tipping is confusing, socially awkward and creates bitterness.

Hi Nick , I have a question. So I got my hair professionally done last week. I got the color I wanted but when I got home and washed it another day the color washed off , My black hair was lifted to golden brown and with lighter highlights . All this is much lighter than what I wanted and got originally, and I was thinking of using a Demi on it to make it darker . I’m only worried if the highlights will also turn dark and end up looking like it’s one flat color , ruining the salon look. Will it ? Thanks in advance!
