This looks like a fun thing to play around with, but as I'm just a beginner (as in, zero knowledge of playing an instrument), it' hard to justify spending $300+ on it at this point. If I master the dollar store recorder, then maybe. However, one thing I was wondering is if it can output to Bluetooth audio devices, like speakers and headphones, or is it only an instrument to phone/computer connection? Being able to play over headphones would make practicing much less annoying to those around me.

Seen lots of people talk smack about these cheap instruments because they're hard to repair, but I've seen what it would cost to fully refurbish an old clarinet I bought at an estate sale...you could buy like 4 of these things for the cost of repairing one good one.

My friend who is a senior in marching band bought her saxophone for $200. It works good and sounds like all the other saxophones in the halftime show, fight song, amd more. And she let me try the sax and it was fine.

I can hear a little difference in the note you made at the very end. But the rest sounded the same.

the rain stick was terrible. if you want a super easy digital rain stick, just plug an iphone on airplane mode and do not disturb into a speaker with a sound effect app and rain sound. hand it to a kid and say press the button when i point at you.

There’s a brand of Indian made saxophones from a company called sai musical and I’m DYING to see it up close!! They look so funky and would be a really interesting conversation about the rising influx of Indian musical instrument factory’s!! The saxophones are almost guaranteed to be entertainingly bad as Trent Hamilton did a few videos on his worlds cheapest corner and trumpet and mini sousaphone videos

If you ever see a Selmer Paris or Yanigasawa sax for like 490 dollars brand new it’s probably one of these horns with a fake label on it, also the mouthpieces they usually include are bad and you can improve your tone 170% with just a different mouthpiece. Usually the mouthpieces that come with with saxes are jazz style.

Having not seen your video prior to buying an instrument, I allllmost bought that sax, (not in purple tho lol) I have been hunting around for a cheap but playable cornet, flugel, or sax. I knew I wanted to try playing a horn but I was so put off by all the reviews. Even the good ones. I actually bought the alto version of the venova I see you have in the background from your Japan video. I bought it thinking, if I don’t love it, I at least have a decent Yamaha mouth piece to put on a mediocre sax in the future…plus some actual reeds. Having not touched a woodwind since 5th grade band with my rented clarinet, I’m looking forward to the venova showing up. But based on this video, I’m definitely more confident in the mendini cheapo sax. Thanks dude. Also, finish the venova video. I’ll get practicing and we can do a soprano/alto thing like they do in the venova promo videos.

A friend of mine bought a Slade alto sax on line but not from Temu. The top ring, where the mouthpiece tube fits, had not even been soldered to the main body of the sax. Half the keys were out of alignment. Not a good instrument for even a beginner. Very poor quality and certainly not value for money. I took pity on her and fixed it for her for free, but it was a hell of a struggle to get it to play decently

ALTHOUGH, I play a Selmer since 1956 i took a chance on a back- up tenor from China and found it came delivered with a few pieces falling off the body of the horn,? I took it to a repairmen and he charged me $ 150 DOLLARS to fix it .. I had my charge card cancel the payment and asked them what they wanted to do ? They didn't want it back after i sent them Picture proof of how it was delivered and cancelled the cost. So I now own a knock off tenor saxophone that plays pretty good but certainly NOT LIKE A SELMER OR a YAMAHA that I own... Its heavier and needs more blowing power no matter what mouth piece i use.. Selmer is much easier to play and lighter weight.. but for the price of a repair bill ? Not to bad a trade, . bobby G.

If these cheap flutes will actually play for a year or two then they have served their purpose. A lot of people can’t afford $1,000 or so for a name brand student flute or they don’t want to spend that kind of money up front. I am tempted to get one in a fun color just for fun.

I wonder why they have them in the weird colors. No one in band has colored instruments. Things may have changed but I doubt many band directors would allow a cheap instrument. My son has been playing saxophone for over 20 years. I wonder what he would think of those, probably laugh. Getting a better mouth piece and premium reeds are a must.

If the body and keys are intact and sturdy enough, it could be overhauled with quality pads, springs, and corks. It will still be a bargain if you can find a tech to do it. Sax is my third instrument so all I have is an alto. I’d love to have a tenor.
