What a lucky guy! I’ve always dreamed of having a little C-150 or Cub. My house next to a grass strip and a hanger right there. Oh well, I should be getting these things ne t week, I bought a lottery ticket and the clerk said I only needed one to win.

That would be quite a cool thing to see landing in your backyard to very first time in 1940.

Nice. My dad bought a J-3, crashed it, rebuilt it, sold it, went to Oshkosh, came home with about a 8” sauna tube on top of his van full of tubing. It was a Kuby. He built his own friggin plane. He put a 90 or close to it, continental instead of the 65, he ad floats and skis but boy it came off water fast and skis, in no time. It was a fun aircraft. I never got my license but he did teach me how to fly it, land take off ect I case something ever happened to him.

One of my earliest memories is a man named Greg Karsh and a lady friend landing in a small yellow two seater in our back pasture of my parent’s farm in spring of 1945. It was in Masonville in upper NY state and Greg had gone to high school with my parents in northern New Jersey. They had flown up for the weekend. Greg and my dad had flown kites together as kids and managed to get hold of some at a local store and I remember them having some difficulty before getting a box kite aloft. As I recall the arrived unannounced to my parents surprise and delight.

Try doing that on "auto-pilot" !!!! Real aviators .... skilled .. just love this kind of real aviation ... from an 85 year old 30 year retired aviator ... from the days when this was routine. Good show guys!!!!

My dad did his solo in 1957 in a J-3 Piper Cub. Him and I flew a lot when I was younger and hope I can go back to flight school before it’s too late all it takes is money I don’t have. Time is not on my side as I’m 59 years old and would like to master the Huey before I go to the casket.

Piper used to turn out J-3s like crazy! I’ve seen photos of brand new Cubs packed in like sardines in a can waiting to be delivered or picked up. J-3s are timeless. The originals that survive today have outlived their owners many times over. Are you aware that you can buy a brand new factory built clone of the original Piper J-3 Cub? My nephew got one for his 16th birthday, but sadly, 15+ years later he still has no interest in it. My dad, however, simply couldn’t wait to learn to fly. He lied about his age and soloed when he was 15 years old! That was back in the 1940s! My dad used to take me flying even before I started kindergarten. I learned to fly after college. My dad passed away many years ago, but I’ll never forget how much he loved Cubs. His last plane was an Aeronca, but I guess he still dreamed about Cubs! Be well my friend!

Two classic old birds there. I spent a lot of time in the J-3, and quite a bit in the 150. Oh, the memories. That Cub would get in and out of anywhere...
