@@martinwikestadthe Leica and Fuji are not compact cameras. The Ricoh GRiii cameras are all newer than the Panny, so those are expected to perform better in certain situations.

Yes I hear you. Agree that it is a bit weird to compare cameras that are 10 years apart but it also means that there are better options out there today :) and yes they are larger in size, honestly don’t know where to draw the line hahah. But I do think Leica themself call their Q a compact camera. But then they have a fixed focal length. And the lx100 has a zoom lens.

Yhea you are right, missed that you wrote zoom lens :) I think it is a shame camera brands don’t put more effort in to these categories of cameras. Maybe it’s just me and they actually do but I think compact cameras are super fun 😃

Hi, noI use it as a daily camer. So if I am going away for the weekend with my partner I usually just bring this camera and nothing else. So It is more of a daily camera. But it works well as a street photography camera as well :)

Yea that is a good question, I have been considering changing the lx100 next year and have had the same question. Haven't tried any other cameras but here are some that I have looked at. Fuji x100VI, Leica Q, Ricoh GRIII. I know the prices are not the same but I do think there are other options out there. What do you think?

@martinwikestad All three of these cameras are great in their own ways but have their respective drawbacks, and, in my opinion, they can't really compare to the Panasonic LX100. The most obvious difference is simple: the three have a fixed focal length, while the Panasonic has a zoom lens. So if I'm looking for another camera to compare with, the direct competitors in the market would either be much larger cameras with zoom lenses, or the Sony ZV-1 or Canon G5X. When comparing image quality, the Panasonic clearly stands out as a notch better. It's also superior in low light, thanks to its slightly curved MFT sensor and an aperture of 1.7, which helps reduce image noise. As for the three cameras you mentioned, the Leica is simply too expensive for me; I've held it before, and it's also not exactly light. The Ricoh has the issue of a very slow autofocus, which was a deal-breaker for me because I ended up with many out-of-focus shots. The Fuji has the limitation of a 35mm lens, which feels very tight. For those who like it, that’s fine, but for me, it feels too narrow in many situations. Currently, my favorite, especially for photography, is either the Panasonic GX9 or the Panasonic GX800. Both cameras are very compact and deliver excellent image quality, especially when paired with the 15mm Leica lens. Sometimes, I also go out with the 12-35mm F2.8 Panasonic zoom, which provides truly exceptional image quality. So far, I haven’t found a better combination than this. If there’s an alternative, it would have to be cameras that are either significantly more expensive and noticeably larger.

I own both lx100 m2 and ricoh gr3x. gr3x has better image quality and it’s more compact. But it costs more too.

@@martinwikestad I still have the Sony A7 I bought in 2015 and used it exclusively & I still use it for specific situations. When the LX100ii came out I found that it was more than adequate for 80% of the photos I took and a heck of a lot easier to pack around. I still use the Lumix occasionally but the Pixel is very convenient & can do just about everything the Lumix can do. The main attraction is ease of use & the screen size. It's hard to go back to viewfinder and small screen on the Lumix.

and you don’t notice the difference between a camera and a phone on a large monitor?

​@@photo1416 It depends on the light. My Sony A4 or probably any FF is in it's own class so I'm only talking about the comparison with my Lumix LX100ii. If I'm out and about during the day, the photos from my Pixel 8P look really good on my iMac 27. I have a friend with one of the Apple iPhone Pro Max and he says the same thing. They aren't cheap, but a Sony Cyber-shot RX is is around a grand. So... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Hmm good question. I haven't tried the Ricoh myself. I know a lot of people really recommend the Ricoh so it is probably really good. Regarding the pocket ability of the lx100, I would say it is not really. It is a little too big. It fits in larger jackets but that is pretty much it. The images from the lx100 straight out of camera are decent. Not the best, there are probably better cameras for that purpose :)
