I love it! It plays and sounds great. After about 3 months It did develop a very fine finish crack on the top in the center between the bridge and end pin area where the two pieces of wood are mated, but it doesn't affect anything. The wood has not separated, just a finish crack that is hardly noticeable and it hasn't gotten any worse. It was probably my fault. I have it hanging on my wall and I don't pay any attention to the humidity level in my room. Would I buy another? Absolutely!

@@ronmeinsler thanks for the response! I ended up ordering one shortly after posting the question here. Lol. I just have a good feeling about it. I've had spruce tops all my life and nothing fancy, my current is a epiphone ej200 ce which is wonderful but it's a beast. So have been seeking something more delicate and different. Was leaning towards mahogany, then went down a koa rabbithole. It's hard to find reviews online for this, yours is one of the only one. It was appreciated! For the price, the value seems equivalent to something I'd pay twice the price for here in Canada. As long as it survives shipping I'll be a happy camper. And if not, I'm sure I can resell it for what I paid. Thanks for the heads up on the finish crack. I'm terrible at keeping my hydrater filled. I'll probably buy a hardcase for it and baby it a little, at least at first. Lol. Thanks again and happy playing.

@@peterpulpitpounder That's a RAG. They are hand made in upstate New York by Roy A Gordon. He builds these F-style mandolins and sells them for $1500 with a hard shell case and a lifetime warranty. It's a beautiful instrument and it sounds much better in person. Check out his website. ragmandolins.com/home I'm going to try to do a review today of another one of my favorite mandolins that is at a $500 price point that few people know about.

I emailed RAG, waiting for a response, but one last question. Which of the 2 plays easier? Most comfortable to play. Between this feeling mandolin and your RAG. I don’t care about the price just want the one that sounds better and plays easier
@ronmeinsler
@ronmeinsler 7 ай бұрын
Neither one is going to play easy when you open the box. Both of my examples required setup. Nut slots needed filed, bridge adjustment and minor truss rod adjustment. I have the skills and tools and I'm able to do that work myself but if you don't, you'll need to take it somewhere and have it done. Both of them play like butter now. The Feeling has a C shaped neck and the RAG has a thicker V shaped neck which I prefer. This Feeling is an excellent mandolin and in my opinion, the best value out there for a mandolin under the $700 price point. If money is not an issue, get the handmade RAG. The sound is much bigger, rounder and they have a lifetime warranty.

@ronmeinsler
@ronmeinsler 7 ай бұрын
It's a radius fingerboard. Some of their models are scooped but this one is not. I don't play up there and it gets in my way when picking. I'm not sure if I'm going to scoop it yet or just cut it off but I'm going to do something with it.

Indeed. Just to verify, I can look at the grain pattern on the inside of the back through the f-holes and it matches the grain pattern on the back. Most certainly solid wood and the tone just keeps getting better. I love that it's waking up. It's incredible how the tone is rounding out and I'm feeling the vibration all through the instrument and up through the neck as I put more hours on it.

@blankenship1682 That's my RAG. They are hand made by Roy A Gordon in upstate New York. I have number #88. Comparing a handmade, hand crafted instrument like that to a factory made instrument would not be fair. The RAG is an incredible instrument with a distinct loud, woody, round tone that any pro player would be proud to own and play. Price of a RAG right now is a little more than twice the price if this mandolin but the sound and feel is also twice this mandolin. You can reach out to me on Facebook or the mandolincafe in PM if you'd like to discuss further. But if your price point is $500-700 I'd go with the Feeling for sure. If you got $1500 to spend, I'd go RAG all the way. Keep in mind, you'll have to do a setup on either one.

Hope to see the review of how this stacks up against the US mandos that are DOUBLE the price, going by the listed Specs that they claim for these. Is this the one with ALL solid wood (top, back, AND sides)??
@ronmeinsler
@ronmeinsler 7 ай бұрын
Yes. Many of their mandolins including this model are made with a solid spruce hand carved top and solid maple back and sides. I just finished and uploaded my review video on this one a few minutes ago. I liked this mandolin so much that I just bought another model (FM-F88) from them yesterday.

What mandolin is this? And when will you make the review of the Feeling Mandolin, I've actually had my eye on that (ebay ) for a while now... it has all the listed specs that would make it DOUBLE the price if US made, so i REALLY want to know if it is truly solid wood, through & through ( tops, sides, AND back - REALLY )! And did you get your Feeling mandolin from ebay or somewhere else?

Now that you have evaluated the Feeling mandolin, what is your assessment ? How thick s the finish? Most imports I've seen have a very heavy finish and greatly diminish the sound quality. They informed me that they use a polly sealer coat and a shellac top coat, all water based. In your opinion how is the sound quality? I'm in the market for a mandola and I'm comparing the Feeling to an Eastman. Trying to make an informed decision but there is almost no information on the Feeling other than you and the Feeling Representative (Dave). Any information from an actual owner of a Feeling would help a lot.
@ronmeinsler

I'm probably going to do a review this week. The finish on my model is not too thick. It appears to be a hand rubbed finish. I had to do a pretty thorough set up but I also had to do that with my RAG when I got it too. Sand and and fit the bridge to the top, adjust the truss rod and file the nut slots. It looks, feels and plays beautifully. Craftsmanship is top notch. Volume is probably about average and the tone is very nice for the price point. I've noticed that the tone gets warmer and more woody the more I play it, which I like. I'm also going to put GHS LS250 strings on it before I do the review. After the review I'm going to install a Cumberland Acoustics bridge but I want to leave it pretty much stock for the review and video.

@ronmeinsler Man I so much appreciate your response. Not much information on this company but I like what I see so far. I have plenty of mandolins but I'm constantly trying to upgrade my mandola sound quality. I have a Big Muddy and a Michael Kelly mandola right now,I like the scale length of the M.K. but the finish is way too thick. The Big Muddy is a flat top with a short scale which I'm not really liking that much. Feeling has a mandola for sale with a short scale, but it's an F5 model and from what your telling me I just might go ahead and make an offer on it. I too work on mandolins so the set up will be no problem. Dave told me they wont make one with a longer scale so I guess if I go with the Feeling I'm stuck with the 15.6 in scale. Eastman mandolas have a 16 inch scale which I would prefer but I'm really intrigued by the Feeling mandola. I will most likely wind up get both before it's all over. Keep me posted if you have any new developments with your Feeling mandolin I'm always looking to add to my understanding. And again I really appreciate you reaching out and taking the time to answer my questions. Ritchie moss from westlake Louisiana.

After reading the description, I figured out the reason I can't fly my 010 like that... it's the transmitter. Thanks! That Devo 7e transmitter makes all the difference in the world. I can hardly even fly with the stock one anymore. Even though I'm pretty much a beginner at all of this, it was an amazing difference in control that was noticeable from the first time I flew with it. You have to mod the transmitter with an NRF24L01 module and get a good ini config file from the deviationtx forum. There are several modules out there. If you do it, make sure you get one that will give you long range if you like outdoor flying. I bought mine already modded by this guy. He puts them on ebay one at a time so you have to kind of watch his store. www.ebay.com/usr/blue_shades07

Cool mods. What FPV goggles are You using? I am using 600 mah Odcay batteries for my h31 and I am getting between 10 and 11 mins flighttime. Do you think that such a 600mah battery will be able to power up both the cam and the quad (thru the camera port) so second battery is not nesessary?
@ronmeinsler
@ronmeinsler 7 жыл бұрын
Zaky - Thanks for watching. My current goggles are the Eachine VR D2 that I did a Carson +5.00 diopter mod to. These cameras really don't use much juice. Most of the draw comes from the quad having to haul the extra weight and the H31 is powerful enough that it really doesn't matter much. The mod that you describe would work great.

Hallo, I started having some wierd problem with my h31. When I am with the heavier batteries (600 mah) strapped with a velcro to the lower part of the body, sometimes it completley looses horizontal orientation, starts spinning in wierd directions and falls to the ground. The wierd thing was that I flew several times with the same configuration and I didn't have any problem. Do you have any suggestions of what can cause such a problem? Thank you!
