When I play this on guitar in C Ionian, there isn't a B-note in the song. Shouldn't Ionian and Mixolydian sound exactly the same, since there is no B-note to flatten?

I mention this in the description, here's the relevant bit: One thing to note is that because the melody for this song doesn't contain the 7th degree the melody isn't changed from C Major to C Mixolydian but the harmony is. In other words; the melody is the same, but the chords are different.

More specifically the V chord (G in C) is changed to the minor version (Gm) because of the change from B to Bb.

1:00 in C Phrygian mode, they used Db minor chord rather than Db major. The melody notes were correct I think (F natural and not Fb)

I like how you made the bass loud enough for it to be heard on a Phone/Tablet or other mobile device speaker because mobile devices don't have good bass output

Your Locrian Mode is played wrongly. You're playing Fb instead of F. Upwards and downwards. Didn't anybody else notice within the last 5 years?

Much better, only two wrong at this level .A tip that my help others improve , when I get one wrong I immediately go back and listen knowing the correct answer , which helps me hear it correctly .

is it just me or does twinkle twinkle little star sound the same in mixolydian and ionian. twinkle twinkle little star doesnt have the 7th note of the scale

People comment on the stark contrast between Lydian and Locrian here, one being abundantly happy and one being sinister and dark, but it's interesting to note that they are very similar in how they're constructed. Lydian is constructed by starting at the root and stacking perfect fifths, Locrian is constructed by stacking perfect fourths. Because a fourth is the inverse of a fifth, it can almost be said that the two scales are exact opposites

Thanks a lot. I'm thinking of learning piano if I can only fit it into my weekly schedule. I could always sing the do re mi scale off by heart, but wanted to know what the notes were. I couldn't find it anywhere, except on your video, so thanks. (I've always loved music and singing, am now 68 yrs old and just finding out what these notes are & in what scale, now!)

The “C Locrian” version might be the creepiest version yet, it sounds like a horror film character wrote their own version of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star or something… Idk…
