@TKGameGuy Ahhh gotcha. Yeah I mean it depends. Right now vanguard really only goes Hornets to counter other air, Infernal goes Spriggan as a late game tech switch typically. Celestials are going Scythes fairly often so that's the big thing factions are trying to counter. Vanguards seem to be making Hedgehogs vs it and Infernal go Gaunt and Shadowflyer (:

I believe drops will come back without buffing dropships for each faction. Maybe some fine tuning is required but over all dropping being hard tactic is fine IMO. In any RTS it's great play even if on psychological level. Amazing way to spend your opponent attention and mess their plans up. As for plague axes, either they will nerf it soon or they have to buff some counters for other factions. Idealy I would see cost reversed or even slightly increased but new research time left alone. Thb I would like a 150/150 but quick upgrade. Make it viable very early on but require substancial investment.

@@Apoptosis808GK yeah I guess time will tell. It's way to early to tell categorically what is good and what is not. Like the "low hanging fruit" strategies are quickly developed but it takes time to make use of all that game gives you. Back to drops though, I would not like them being totally unviable but neither I want them to be too common. Drop play being too good in SC2 is IMO one of more important issue turning new players off. If you lose in a big battle, you can easily realize what you done wrong, ans often it feels more fair then having this one or two units just fly into your main and suddenly there is a bunch of enemy soldiers there and then you die. Typically response to that is just overbuilding static def so then you lose again, so you decide game is stupid and just leave. Perfectly drops should be quite hard and not give too much of advantage with one successful drop. On the other hand it should not be prohibitively expensive to branch into it. I guess overall that is hard thing to balance out so I am hoping they will focus on that part of the game at some point in history. In closed beta, there was a time when infernal drops where super common, right?

I am surprised the cost/time buff didn't happen last patch. The nerf to plague axes was giant, instead of always infesting, now you infest some of the units, with some of your attacks, sometimes. So I think it makes sense that when something gets way worse it gets cheaper to offset the worse-ness a bit.

Making gaunt play cost even less therium would make it imba, no matter if the cut is in structure or tech. Cutting structure cost is even better since that is the secondary resource earlier in the game. I think they will probably go back to the earlier price regardless, I hope quick research time will stay, although that too maybe will have to go.

Thanks for the guide! I like custom games for showing how to execute the build. I'd like to suggest adding a second half with a replay of an actual game as well. That way we can get a clean BO upfront and an example of possible reactions from the opponent and follow up play. I'll be looking forward to the next upload

I'll add tlink about doing both in the future - most games I did this the Van just fell over so thought a custom would be good to show the clean version of it. The games I lost they went hangar bay very early and were quite ready for it!

this build is decent for IvC, you want to pressure more with brutes, get more macro and some shadowfliers later on, but generally you can somftably mass spriggans vs cel and fight a lot of stuff head on.

One thing that I am (probably irrationally) annoyed by is that workers once there is 8/12 workers on a luminite mine the next two workers you rally to the mine seem to go to the middle of the mine most of the time instead of the long distance to the sides, where they mine at more efficiency than in the middle. It requires some unenjoyable micro to assign the workers to the sides. Hope they fix that at some point.

We should test what happens when you place a resource building in a therium field really early, but then don't mine. I am curious if it still spawns 30 nodes and they get displaced. Or maybe they won't spawn and the therium begins enriching faster when it can't spawn in. If you have tested this already I'd love to know

I tested it. If you rush to block it it isn't able to properly build all 30. But one or two structures wont be enough, you have to like race to block off the whole thing, it's quite hard to do so I don't think it'll ever happen in a normal game.

In TRUE Stormgate fashion, the recent patch changed something in my video *slightly*. Vanguard saturation and time to fill is now MUCH faster due to the BOB production time change. Other than that, everything should remain accurate!

It seems to me they want gaunt to be more of a harrass unit to be used in tandem with the harbinger. With the damage buffs they kill workers a little faster and are more likely to get some fiends to spawn with the shroud radius increase for the harbinger ideally making the chances of taking out an exposed base stronger no?

@Apoptosis808GK yeah I mean I haven't played the new patch but it always seemed to me that they initially balanced the gaunt by having it's average damage be lower than the other races units that fill a similar role due to infest. With infest virtually out of the picture now I don't think the slight damage buff they gave offsets the fact that you can't reliably infest with them any more. I agree with the change of making the condition that the gaunt is on shroud and having a condition for plague axes to proc infest does seem interesting to me.

Topologize is a process made in any 3d object whom needs animation. When the model is created (usually sculpt in Zbrush), its created with all triangle polygons. In animations the triangles models doesn't work so the model are remade with quad polygons. They remade the topology of the character to make better animations.

You didn't mention how big the Animancer nerf was. Now you can't just straight up go for Animancer, you need starforge first. That's a huuuge nerf. That's like an extra minute you need to wait.

Do they even play the game ? It's laughable how bad they are at fixing the game... They basically made it unplayable for celetsials. I mean literally. The only way to play is cheese or abuse. Macro game is almost unplayable.

btw apparently Spriggan attack slows enemy... so there is a way to slow as Infernal, it's just with unit no one is using

Now I see it could perhaps be useful maybe even with main army for that slow... We will see this update will definitely shake some shit up, I worry Vanguard may become untouchable but with early meta such swings are inevitable. Glad they get rid of the dog domination it was super boring state of game, especially playing Vanguard... Now I might revisit them, but I am still going to mostly stick to Infernals and try to figure out how to do it without guant infest.... Mass brute seems like a must in early game now, no?

hopefully they tweak the gaunt nerf to gaunt being on shroud. as far as it not mattering at all I disagree, you can still infest creeps easily and with enemy... I guess workers maybe or in some very specific situations. so yeah from must have upgrade it turned into something very minor. tbh though infest wrecked celestials, so they had to do something. I hope just that it doesn't stay in this particular state for too long. Maybe they will come up with some interesting way to balance it all out.

Loved this video, thanks for sharing your thoughts <3. I hear you on the Gaunt infest removal, but Gaunts infesting everything all the time really overshadowed all the other ways infest comes about later in the game. Assuming Gaunts end up underperforming, I'm hoping the swap to Gaunts being on creep allowing infest helps. I really like encouraging tactical play on shroud, and interesting usage of top-bar abilities rather than the simple a-move option. Right now, shroud only helps Infernals, it doesn't harm other factions. It feels more in line to empower Gaunts with the ability to infest after getting the upgrade while on shroud. Edit: Continuing to watch, it looks like we came to similar conclusions haha.
