I connected a handheld telescopic whip to the rear of my transmitter with a pl259 to bnc right angle and made a 9 foot tiger tale to drop out the window of the second floor and it has better range for half the price than a tram 1499. It is truely over hyped snake oil and i love tram . There maybe a use but i cant figure it out..

Yrah it also wins on transmit. My buddy is 60 miles away and could bearly hear me using my A99 and I'm booming in using my Imax 2000! Thats using same amp for both!

I know this video is't about the mount specifically but I run a 102" whip on that 3 magnet roof mount on top of my F250. I live in west columbia and talked to a guy from my driveway to a guy in Sandy run around 15 miles or so away as the crow flies. Clear as a bell. Sounded almost like we were talking on cellphones. The magnet mound holds that whip solid as a rock at 70 mph no issues. Matter of fact, when I remove it to clean (dry) the paint it takes a *VERY DELIBERATE* action to say the least. I would recomend it regardless what antenna you want to run. If it will hold mine it will hold anything else.

Doing it's job and it's great you got it up on a rotator. Always favored "Loop" elements over parasitic (yagi) ones. They are better performers and much quieter. Your 3 element delta loop likely gives you some dbd gain. Your also getting rid of qrm via the backdoor. The silver rod .. Is that the half-wave you got that's made in the UK? Just me, but I thought it and the v58a were both decent performers.

It doesn't look like the antenna in the video is included with the radio when you purchase it.

It does sound clean receive. So many have about 25% audio distortion to my ears. That's rx artefacts.

As far as the CB thing goes .. Mower Junkie is deep into it like I was 40+ years ago. Old time 11 meter Dx'er. It is a fun hobby. Might find a broken rig someday for parts. A lot of knobs are similar too. I bought a V58A, but haven't got anything to put it up on yet. Once I get something I'll put the thing together and stick it up. Some years (over 10 I think) ago I bought a Ranger SS-158edx. I hook it up to my short wave antenna sometimes and listen. 11 Meters has been wide open at times. My galaxy 99v2 doesn't have the " warm up " drift though I expected it to come with when you open that 149 you may see a lot of " ranger" notes my galaxy99v2 had a stock mike with Ranger on stamped back Nice sounding recv wish my 99 as that quiet ( need to get aluminum antenna up) antron holds air noice at worst times

I have a love hate relationship with galaxy/ranger. They're great when they work but it's tough getting them reliable. I just had a DX99V in for repair and it had so many solder joint problems. Traces are super thin. But great find especially for 40 bucks ! Cleaned up nice ! 73s

I had a 949... the TX and recieve were superb, but it would not stay even close to on frequency to save it's life, even after having it re-tuned...
