My dad bought this saw brand new in 2011. We dont use it much, only about 60 to 80 hours yearly but since 2011 we havent had a single fault or failure with it. Everything is extremely sturdy, only problem with it is when it sits for a while the oil leaks out of it but when you drain the oil it isnt too bad. Really good saw, very beginner friendly i would say

Do you have any views on the new 212 c-be stihl? Can’t find much info on it yet - as it is newer I believe
@baldguybasics7584Ай бұрын
I have no experience with the 212, but it appears to be a tweak of the 211’s design. I read that some of the 211s had issues leaking oil and some were poorly adjusted in terms of carbonation, but I haven’t experienced any trouble with mine. I was cutting a downed hickory with mine a few days ago and did a fair bit of work above shoulder height, and I was reminded just how handy these lighter weight saws are! Thanks for watching.

I love mccullochs, own 2 PM 310s and a Euromac S41, i am painfully hipster so i really didin't care for stihl because it is so popular, that was until recently. I got a fire damaged -94 021 (same year as the S41) and i must say the build quality is remarkable, the plastics felt really nice, the throttle lock/choke is really nice, the ergonomics are great, and best of all, it starts easily runs well despite being burnt so badly that the chain oil tank has a hole in it. Now maybe it is because my Macs spent a decade being abandoned in such conditions where the cylinders seized but atleast this Stihl saw is also lovely to work on and repair

I bought the Matrix kit a few weeks ago for $180 because I was trying to replace the blades on my riding mower and couldn't get either of the nuts off. I never used an impact driver before, but I knew I needed one to get the job done. I have a 3 year old $49 B&D drill that's way underpowered for anything beyond the basics, but it uses the same 20V batteries, so I was incentivized to stay in the B&D ecosystem and came across this. As a fairly new homeowner collecting an arsenal of tools, I think getting 6 tools in one with the modularity to add more tools for cheap, plus gaining an extra battery for both drills, is a pretty good deal for the price. When I tried the impact driver on the blades, at first I thought something was wrong because I expected to feel some kickback in the drill and holding the blade with my hand. It felt almost identical to my other drill with the clutch at 1. Once I gave it a few more seconds, they each started to come loose. I'm very impressed, though that's more with respect to impact drivers in general than this particular model. I've yet to find a use for the other tools, but I know I will sooner or later as I come up with projects.

@baldguybasics75842 ай бұрын
I just realized that I did not respond to your question about sanding the stock down. Under normal circumstances, I would say no. I got a number of dents out of the stock that I used in the video without sanding it. The heat did not cause any discoloration or damage to the finish and I was very pleased. However, the rifle had some broken fires as I mentioned so I did ultimately send it down, but it is not necessary for a simple dent.

I've never owned a pickaroon. I'm 43 and have been cutting wood as long as I can remember. Explain to me why I need to suddenly purchase 2 of these because you say so.
@baldguybasics75846 ай бұрын
My reasons are pretty simple: with a pickaroon, I don't have to bend over so I save my back, and at 59 years of age it saves me a lot of arthritic pain. I can load more wood without fatigue, and I can load the wood much faster. I realize that a younger man may not have the same issues I deal with, but the review is offered to help people consider other options. Like you, I cut wood for years and never heard of the thing. Once I heard, I tried. Once I tried, I liked. Since I liked, I offered a review. Thanks for watching. BGB

I have some black impact sockets, and the lettering has worn off. There are smooth so I don't think this will work. Does anyone have a suggestion?
@baldguybasics75847 ай бұрын
That certainly is a problem. Back in the day, people often kept an engraving tool near the tool box to put their initials or name on their tools. That might work if you can find one of those. A neater solution might be to print labels with a label maker. That would be neater and you can choose the color of tape you want, along with the size of type...but then there is the whole issue of keeping the label from peeling off. If you go that route be sure and clean the sockets thoroughly first. That will be tough to work with the smallest of your sockets. Another option would be to use the marker and actually write the size on them, but once again that is difficult with the smaller sockets. Personally, I would either go with the engraving tool, or try and mark the storage location rather than the socket. Hope this gives you somthing to think about. Thanks for watching! BGB
@jlilly19617 ай бұрын
@@baldguybasics7584 I have an engraving tool and thought of doing that very thing. I don't want to cut through the protective layer of the sockets. I have to do something.
