What is your fertility package on your barley? Was Johnson-Su added to the seed/pumped in furrow at planting? What date in the spring was that picture taken of the line where you stopped spraying? Really interested in this as I am planning on seeding a rye/camelina/vetch cover crop on my acres this fall after harvest and now I am spooked because of this video.

Use a different way. What are you spraying? Your compost Tea or a terminal chemical to get them out. Each time you do that with chemicals it will set you back. Some thoughts. I have seen farmers spray with gas that is cooking the last year stuff.

Hey Korey, I've subscribed. Great introduction for Compost Extract to scale. I am very impressed with your adaptation what you learned from Dr Eliane as I am a former student, certified with distinction. Just about to finish my CLP certification. Been looking for this scale of application as I am working with farmers / ranchers and been challenged using five-gallon extractions of my bicomplete vermicompost to produce enough to be used as a soil drench for a struggling alfalfa field that was bacteria dominated and very little if any of the aerobic organisms needed for nutrient cycling. I would very much love to get a hold of you and ask a trillion plus questions, okay not a trillion but still what you are doing I am trying to assist the agricultural community in the Panhandle of Nebraska to embrace and be freed from their chemical dependency. I will be reaching out, you can find me here, facebook.com/PlatteValleyOrganics/

Cycling water continuously through a sand extractor can't be good for microbes. The sand extractor will no doubt extract all compost bigger than a grain of sand, so what's the point as the feedstock gets taken out of the process. Rather aerate all the material, and allow the screen/sieve to keep solids out of the final product.

Loved this thank you. I have listened to a lot of regen names and often I find the info very general and philosophical. Which is lovely but when you want to apply it to your own system and can't afford a course you need the meat and the nitty gritty. Thank you, very relatable.

We bought and air punch (large air hammer and soaked things as much as possible in PB Blaster and were able to hammer out 90% of the seized ones. It helps a lot to leave the gauge wheel on the one right behind the one your are pounding to brace against and if you can have someone pry against the closing arm with a spud bar. It works really well to wing the drill up part way too and pound down on them if you can have someone lift you up in a loader

Things are looking better. Getting there looks like. So how does the plant benefit from the soil food web? Looks like a 1 way street where the plant gets no benefit from it? Is something missing in the graphic?
@koreyfauque77456 ай бұрын
Hey Doug great question! I didn't do a very good job of explaining that part. This video does a pretty good job of explaining how symbiotic that relationship is. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hIfLimepqLKnmKs This is some pretty amazing stuff the science of which we really had no understanding of even 20 years ago.
@dougayers75176 ай бұрын
@@koreyfauque7745 Yup. So the poop loop feeds back to the plant. Since you mentioned you were an agronomist, would you say the video is in agreement with the agronomist understanding of how plants eat or is it new and different?
@koreyfauque77456 ай бұрын
@@dougayers7517 we honestly mostly focused on killing thing like weeds, diseases and insects when I was doing traditional agronomy work so this is a total inverse to that approach (and honestly we didn’t know any better). Part of the problem with agronomy at that moment is most of the agronomists are trained and employed by the same companies that are selling all the pesticides and fertilizer it’s impossible to have an unbiased slant on using that stuff.
@dougayers75176 ай бұрын
@@koreyfauque7745 Thanks. I got no agronomy background (I did pass dr. Elaines classes and now certified on the microscope work) but I was wondering if agronomy had a different understanding of how plants consume nutrients. Here's one for you. In 2001, a guy named Sparks went around the world and over 3 million soil samples showed there is no soil on the planet lacking in any plant nutrient and there never will be. But it's locked up. Another tidbit: plants produce no digestive acids or enzymes. They cant solubilize mineral or digest organic material. Only bacteria and fungi do. They are the only animals on earth that can unlock those nutrients. But they are greedy and don't give it to the plant. They keep it for themselves. So their predators eat them, and poop out excess nutrients in a form the plant can now absorb. I think you are doing great. Looks like you made a lot of progress in the past year.

But if we put the whole compost in soil, then also all microbes & fungi will go to soil. What is extra benifit of extracting compost tea and then putting in soil. I am new to this so please help me to understand
@koreyfauque774510 ай бұрын
It really comes down to what scale you want to do this on. With the extract we can put this through our liquid kit on our drill which allows us to spread a lot of biology over an acre using just 5 gallons of solution. If you were in a gardening situation placing straight compost by the seed would be a better solution. The extracted product can also be sprayed on the leaves of the plants which we try to get done when time permits and the weather cooperates. We do have some neighbors that have figured out how to mix the compost right with the seed after screening it and are putting dry product through the drill which is another great way to do this if it doesn't plug the drill up.

Very impressive my friend. You're always thinkin' outside the box. I like that. I don't know if you've tried this but we've completely quit making "H" braces. We're using 10 feet of 3 1/2" drill stem and no brace at all. With that heavy piece of pipe buried 6' deep, they don't budge. With the electricity you'll need an insulator on the steel post, but you could just weld a couple of big nuts on there to wire your insulators to. it sure seems to be a lot quicker. It takes a little time to build a decent H brace. Cost wise it might not be a lot different, as the drill stem is a little pricey, but you're saving 2 of those 8 foot posts and the cross bar. Give one a try ... see if it works for you. 😀
