About the spool on the side like that and that support thingy that supposedly helps keep the filament from getting tangled. What I've noticed now, several times, is that as the filament (especially silk) is very "springy" it gets caught up under the Z motor and as the filament is pulled into the PTFE tube, the filament that is under the stepper actually snaps against the motor's power connector and the connector can pop out. It happened to me, which is why I'm keeping an eye on that. I plan on putting the spool on top, so that should solve that. In the mean time, I may have to print some sort of protective cover around the motor to stop this problem. Or at the very least, perhaps use a zip tie to keep it held down.

Yeah, I messed up. I took the spacers out of mine and after finding that the two right ones were longer, I sanded them down to match the left ones. Crap! Are there metal ones I can buy?

I just got my printer and after a couple of minor issues, it's up and running. The prints I've done so far are so much better than my old printer. In fact, my 1st print was the benchy and is was the smoothest I've ever seen! My only complaint is the Creality Slicer. In all of these videos that are a few months old, the version shown is much nicer as it has the EDIT option with a very Cura-esque menu options along the left of that little window and the each setting. Sadly, the new version is not user friendly at all. Why they make such silly changes is beyond me! I wish that, at least, they had a checkbox to allow us to use the "vintage" style. I tried Orca, but that's a whole learning curve right there, which would be fine. HOWEVER, I won't be using it, because, as many people report, the dang thing crashes randomly. I've had it crash 4 or 5 times just doing normal things. This is 2024, not 1995!!! Software should not just be randomly crashing. Especially a slicer where all other brands just work. I'm used to using Cura and not once has it crashed in the years I've been using it! I understand that there is a way to get it to work with Klipper printers and I think there's even a machine profile somewhere for THIS printer. If I can find those thing and get Cura working with this printer AND the print quality as good as what the Creality Slicer produces, then I'll just use Cura.

The way I'm planning on trying - is to clamp some wood on the drill press table, drill a hole all the way through the wood, the same diameter as the rod. Push the rod up, through the hole from the bottom (If I don't have room to push through the top), then mole grips on the rod, to stop it moving, then fit a drill bit the correct size. This should be perfectly centred. (EDIT) - Looking at my drill press, I will have to drill a hole though the centre of the bottom plate of the drill press for this to work.

I just bought the thing yesterday and set it up today. Did the benchy test, which was impressive and immediately, the extruder got clogged. None of the tricks to remove the clog worked. So I found your video, did what you showed and luckily, found 2 pieces of filament melted inside the path. Not on the gears! phew! Now the printer is printing as it should and I've gained some knowledge on this new printer. I won't be afraid to take it apart again. I had this exact problem with my old printer. After removing many clogs, I finally realized that the problem is always, after the print is done, the filament just stays where it was. So I added GCODE to the printer's end file, at the very end, that send a very fast and long retraction (something like 80mm or 100mm... overkill for sure). But, this worked!!! Since then, not a single clog. So, I'm wondering, not knowing Klipper yet, how difficult would it be to add end code to do the above? Perhaps first, turn the nozzle heat up to something hot, like 250, then once reached, extrude a little bit followed by a super FAST retraction!?? IDEAS? Thanks for your video.

I have a question that I'll ask even thought I'm only about 3 mins into the video. That's because I''ll just forget. LOL So on my old printer, I use a PTFE "dry" lubricant, as suggested by many others. This really made a difference with the rollers being smoother as well as the travel. I'm wondering, would it be a good idea to coat the rods with this stuff to make sure the moving parts are moving as smoothly as possible? This is a dry lube, so there's no issue withe dirt clinging to it like any other oil or lube. (actually, it's made by WD40 and is a dry PTFE spray) As for the touch screen being right in front like that, perhaps somewhere, there's an extension cable and a printable holder that would allow us to move it to the side like many other machines. ???

This video may just have saved my sanity !!! I assembled my D1 Pro last night, and only got a chance to test it out today, I loaded an image into XCS to attempt to test run the machine, it wouldnt move after clicking on 'FRAME' , I chose to bypass that and attempt to engrave anyway, the module would only move along the X axis and would then constantly give me limit alarms.... I think this video has solved my problem, I completley missed that small black cable that plugs into the limiter for the X & Y axis... I dont recall seeing that in the assembly manual for some reason....

You mentioned that the IR laser needs some time to heat up. Since we are dealing with heat, the room temperature probably affects the settings. I would think that is would benefit for xTool to give a reference room temperature and experiment on what the settings changes should be on +1 or -1 degrees so you can adjust accordingly.

Your video is the only one I found in KZbin that solved the same direct driver extruder jam problem that happened to my 1 day old K1C. Thanks for this. You rescued me from having to pay for the shipment to send this back to China to be fixed. For my case the printer just printed bank (no filament comes out) after the 2nd print job after installation and calibration. I did not do any retract or pulling . The printer just jam on its own. Some comment on other web sites say this is a very common problem for closed door 3D printers. You can avoid this by monitoring the temperature of the cabinet. If it comes too close to 40 degree C, open the top cover or increase the Fan speed to cool it down while printing.
