Good idea 💡 ebikes are as fast as a motorcycle but no registration, test, tax , or insurance required. A menace to pedestrians!

Bicycles do not belong on sidewalks or pedestrian parks. NYC has moter bikes and bicycles on sidewalks, making living here very dangerous.

yeah it’s the bikes that make it dangerous, not the thousands and thousands of entitled and distracted people driving literal tanks in cramped spaces 😂

As a driver of cars and rider of motorbikes, I rate this policy (and all the other insane restrictions placed on cycling) "R", for r3tarded. Here's a much cheaper and much less insane way to deal with this issue - let people go about their business and get around in any way they want. Reorganise the infrastructure so that no particular mode is favoured or discouraged. Ban the knobheads from ALL forms of mechanised personal transport. If one has been caught putting pedertrians or other road users at risk on a bicycle by being reckless or negligent (honest mistakes don't count here), they don't get to then get in a car and continue being reckless & negligent. It's walking and public transport for a while. Repeat offenders get banned for life. Violators of the ban go to prison. Do that and watch everyone learn to behave without having to have stupid rules imposed on them by two-bit bureaucrats on power trips.

I'm currently waiting on the arrival of my first e-bike in the next few weeks. A 250w pedelec with a maximum assisted speed of 25 kmh. Legally it's regarded as a normal bicycle. I currently have an ordinary fairly heavy and not particularly fast hybrid bicycle. It's a general purpose commuting and shopping workhorse. I'm not particularly fit and not trying to be but on the flat even loaded down by racks, bags and baskets I can comfortably cycle faster than the 25 kmh e-bike assisted cut off speed. And I can exceed 50 kmh on a good downhill. Am I breaking the law in Coventry? It's going to be the same with my new e-bike. It has 10 derailleur gears and if I pedal faster under my own power after the motor cuts out at 25 kmh I will regularly be exceeding 25 kmh. I will definitely be doing 50 kmh or more down those hills on it too. Perfectly legally. I'm getting it to make going up those bloody hills and facing into headwinds easier and faster overall. On the flats, I am going to be exceeding that 25 kmh assist cut off most of the time. Am I going to be a menace to society? More than I already am? I see plenty of yahoos on scooters and particularly illegally riding over powered and unrestricted e-bikes that legally should require a license and insurance all of the time. I would be totally p1ssed off if I were to be included with those arseholes in any generalised ban of all e-bikes. This Coventry by law is ridiculous. Take those illegally used bikes off all of those that are riding them instead. That's a course of action I will stand behind.

I agree with restrictions and regulations. Ebikes are not as eco-friendly as the narrator says (lithium mining is pretty f*cked), modded ebikes are an absolute menace, and I don't think that able-bodied people should be using ebikes at all. Getting fitter is good for you. Where I would disagree is for the disabled and the elderly.

3 weeks ago there were still plenty of bicycles, but they have been mainly replaced by electric scooters, which glide along rapidly and silently in the cycle lanes and sometimes on footpaths. It is wise to keep an eye open in all directions, especially when getting out of a taxi. In the hutong, we saw abandoned, rusting vehicles like the one at 2.44 in the video. I was wondering what had happened to the owners.

several ordinary people i know(including my parents, former classmates, aquaintences) have taken trips of 100-150km on a bike which easily blows pass the range of every ebike on the market. heck, i am far from an endurance superstar and ive passed the 50km/day mark most ebikes advertise. it might as well be powered by hand picked potatoes from my home garden so the carbon footprint is basically nothing.

You're going about this all wrong. The government is shafting ALL road users. And making it look to each individual like they're being screwed while everyone else is being favoured. When that's not the case at all. Stirring up this sort of animosity among us, pitting us against each other and breeding hostile cliques has us infighting, leaving the bureaucrats free to run roughshot over every single one of us. We need to come together as road users, set aside our ideologies for a while, and stand up to these bureaucrats on all fronts. Else they'll just continue to divide and destroy. Until the only possible way to get around will be to become a wage slave to their rich friends and spend any money we've been graced with on the sh!tty transport system owned by those same rich friends. And none of us want that.

This feels almost AI generated? Why is there so much unrelated footage to what you're talking about? especially the Körmend bike lane. not a single picture of it? really? You wanna talk about thoughtlessly designed bike infrastructure, but your content feels like it's just mass produced content farming to get views... Please, if you're an actual person and not just a content mil, listen to the feedback on your videos and improve upon them, we need more channels raising awareness on how to create good infrastructure, but this video is just confusing and frustrating to watch.

In the words of a great comedian: "You get what you f*<king deserve!". At some point someone has to look at some of these bike lanes and ask "Is it even worth putting one here?" but with "national codes" and "pressure from cyclists" at some point you are going to get designs like this.

13 bike lanes in less than 6 1/2 minutes! is > 30 seconds per example ... I'm out of breath trying to keep up and very little the wiser about any of the examples. Four or five examples with a more in depth "review"/explanation of the faults would have been far better.

How odd. Been riding a bike for a long time and never rode in a huge crowd as shown here. What a terrible idea. You might as well be in a car on a crowded street, constantly looking here and there to avoid a collision. Ugh! Bikes really are for people who like freedom from all the busyness of urban life. Stop encouraging people to switch from one frustrating form of transportation--the automobile--to another--bicycle herding. One is almost as bad as the other. Let bikes continue to be the best way to get away from it all. There are so few things left that offer us a chance to do this. Nowadays, these cycling advocates are trying to take that away from us and turn cycling into the same kind of "normalized drudgery" automobiles have given us.

How does cycling work when it's raining, snowing, freezing cold, and insanely windy and stormy? How do cyclists carry heavy, bulky, items/furnishings, like cellos and trombones? How to musicians transport their sound systems? What about long trips? Will you be too exhausted to teach your classes at the university, perform your duties in the ER, or drive those bulldozers? I’m a cyclist and love it, but bicycles may not be the panacea many of us want it to be. Cars are still needed, but, yes; let’s reduce our dependency on them. I do wonder if I’d like riding my bike in a huge crowd as shown. In my experience, one of the most enjoyable things about cycling is having a lot of riding space to myself, not having to constantly watch out for bikes or cars everywhere.

You need to watch videos on countries with all that type of weather you mentioned that ride their bikes and also have cargo bikes to carry their belongings like groceries and children among other things. Its pretty straightforward and not uncommon at all.
@dolittle6781

@@willpotter22 Oh, is that right? Have seen many such videos. Some die-hard cyclists would ride their bikes to the Moon and back if they could. It's human nature; tell people they can't do something and they'll eventually do it to prove you wrong. The average cyclist simply would likely opt out of riding in inclement weather if they could. Of course, if you live in a place where such weather is an almost daily occurrence, then you have little choice but to hop on your saddle and peddle away.

@@dolittle6781their not die hard cyclists by any means, they just have good balance of infrastructure that provide alternatives to driving. It’s pretty straightforward. To be clear here, the scooters of this type are a grunge-boy, girly-boy, hipster fad, and they are toys too. In fact scooters with this profile powered or not have always been toys. They don't take cars off the street, and they aren't real conveyances. I also think that they're a nuisance because adults ride them like children ride them. Like haphazardly. Bicycles are different, have always been different, and are very often serious conveyances.
