How tall are you? You seem to have very limited head room in the SR22. Did you find the cabin small for your size?

Just did this lesson on Monday in the 172. I need to do it again. It was sketchy to me because it was a bit overwhelming. My instructor said to lead the turn with rudder and while doing that at 30 degrees while maintaining altitude and airspeed. The turbulent weather that day did not help at all. We haven't started using trim yet.

Very concise ATC calls. It's taken me a long time to truly understand the ATC calls for class D departures. Just never flew class D much.

I’ve been fortunate to train in a class Bravo out of PHNL. I needed to become comfortable with radio comms by necessity. Just flew out of a Delta airport today when I was island hopping for my cross country time. One more flight and I’ll have so my requirements for the ppl check ride in october. Thanks for another great video!

You should’ve seen my instructors face when I was taking my “” discovery flight, and I told him that I would like to do the radio call. I’d already practiced quite a bit by listening to ATC live and then there was this one app that I was using but then I used it too many times and it locked me out but yeah I was all brushed up and when I told him what I was gonna say, he said OK. Now mind you I was a maintenance guy since I was a kid, so I was always using walkie-talkies so that was behind me as far as being afraid to key the mic and call someone I can see how that’s awkward

Would be awesome to see a video explaining procedures to transition class c airspace in the event that you need to descend through controlled airspace to land at an airport just outside of the airspace.

I was told by tower guys not to cold call
@gottesma2 күн бұрын
Must be local custom? I can't imagine cold calling ground at my local class D. Or any controller, actually. TRACON by me doesn't even want one. I can't imagine getting a big long VFR flight following request all in one go, but that's what they want, so that's what they get.
@RaceMentally2 күн бұрын
@@gottesma I’ll call up at first and say the tail number slightly slower. But I asked them and they said no cold calls in 2 tower tours I did.

I said the same holing runway 10 Got the takeoff clearance and after takeoff the controller assumed I was staying in the pattern and was upset I didn’t say leaving the pattern south

I always struggle with flow of speaking. I know what to say but when I start talking all go wrong. I tried all kind of tricks but the best is see it written down. Than I have no trouble at all. But that is not realistic to write it down bcs of the different locations and information. So I welcome every advice or trick here. And as almost always again a very educational video. Thnx Jason.

I had that same problem when I first started going solo everything was all new when you’re on your own. practising on the ground and beginning to learn the lingo to create a muscle memory will eventually create a memory pattern.. I also used to practice while driving and go through the scenario over and over again, trying to establish that muscle memory.

Everyone messes up, don't let it get to you or put in fear of speaking to ATC. Controllers mess up and it is what they do every day.

I was in a Cessna 172 and a Cessna Caravan did a go around. It bounced me around pretty good until i got low enough to clear his wake turbulence and propwash. Wake turbulence caution cannot be stressed enough..I remember a Beechcraft 95 Travel Air crashed 2 nm short of the runway. It was simulating an engine failure and was going slower than the minimum control speed of 80 mph due to the simulated engine failure and the landing gear lowered. They were following an Airbus 320. The combination of going to slow and the wake turbulence touching down before the 320 touchdown spun the aircraft around and it pancaked killing a flight instructor and student.
