Fun episode. I'd be curious to hear if you guys checked out any of the older american saturday morning cartoons or 80's anime?
@starwarstimeline4 ай бұрын
I found a lot the 00's cartoons bizzare, neurotic, with some ugly aesthetic that went out of their way to repulse the audience, like "Courage the Cowardly Dog". My generation was all heroic fantasy and sci fi, HE-MAN, Thundercats, and some anime that was def. not age appropriate.

Oh, this should be fun! I'm currently binging my childhood cartoon HE-MAN. Let's hear about your favorites (and thanks for making us feel old, lol)

I love Dragon Ball, I've seen the original series, Z, GT and a handful of the movies. I also have the first season of Fist Of The North Star on DVD too - both are great shows!

Really enjoyed the conversation. I think you boys represent the best of Star Wars fandom, I genuinely mean it (no pun.) But I also feel it's extremely important to talk about all aspects of the franchise. As much as I personally hate going into the politics, if I feel it is being deliberately politicised and a lot of fans feel gaslighted, it should be a conversation, not branded as toxicity. Touch discourse is preferrential to opressive silence.
@starwarstimeline5 ай бұрын
6 minutes into it, Mike you are always as level-headed and sincerely diplomatic as I expect to hear from you, if anything your observations point to the True North of the fandom. Although continuity and respecting lore that comes before is important to me (X-Men: First Class) I don't hold any SW projects beholden to previous work. It has to be good within its own work frame.

I am struggling massively with this show... Like Tonya said, it's clumsy and contrived throughout. It is simply not good enough in design or execution...

Right out the gates, enjoy Mike's distinction between ROTJ space battle and quiet moments on Dagobah. He really gets inside of Anakin's mind and what makes SW characters work.

I used to collect many comics (mostly UK Marvel and later mostly American Marvel) as well as 2000AD and associated comics from the late 1970s until around the early 1990s, when I stopped. In amongst the Marvel ones it was mostly Spider-man, Thor, X-Men and some Moon Knight as I liked the character. Sadly I sold almost all of my comics after getting married, mostly to clear space. My main regret in life is doing that, when I think back on all those Dr. Who comics (from issue 1), 2000AD comics and various boxes of the American Marvel comics. I don't remember too much about the Moon Knight comics I read, other than it was Marc Spector (before the DID stuff).

Thanks for sharing, such a shame when that happens, I got rid of countless Star Wars merchandise from what I was a kid, which I regret hugely If you're a fan of 2000AD, Scott has also released an essay collection on Judge Dredd called Judging Dredd - I'd hugely recommend that, and checking out Scott's podcast as he's a big 2000AD fan too!

I'm one of the directors of Aau's Song and I just wanted to say that hearing your review really warmed my heart. While making the film you hope that the emotions and ideas you're wanting to communicate will resonate with the audience but you can only really find out after its release. You guys were so spot on with your analysis that it kinda blew my mind. As to which of Mikes two theories about Abat helping by taking Aau to a place where it was safer for her to sing or simply interrupting what would have been the same process as the climax; we were probably thinking more along the lines of the former but having heard the latter I now think that maybe it's actually more true, we just didn't know it yet!

I'm so glad you enjoyed our thoughts on your film - I loved it and have been showing it to as many people as I can! If you and/or Nadia Darries wanted to speak on my podcast, I'd love to have you on to discuss - if so, you can confirm here, message or contact on any social media and we can make something work. In any case, thank YOU for helping create such a beautiful piece of art. Thanks, Mike Burton; Host/Creator/Everything-elser of Genuine Chit-Chat
