Beautiful video! Well put. “Alliances”, partnerships, trust… are the key to success in the optics and photonics industry! In any industry. That’s why we call it “community” for a good reason!

Thank you Chuck, for inspiring lecture. I listened twice and appreciate for featuring my invention of VCSEL in 1977. After that, we struggled to achieve CW operation at room temperature and succeeded in getting it by my colleague Fumio Koyama on September 17. Just before that Jack Jewell visited us at my lab. and had a nice talk at the end of August. Ken

Where are all the workers? It would be nice to hear some of the worker perspective. The big question, when will the magic turn into reality. We need the technology to turn into asset, liquid asset. We need the demand and at a scale. We need pricing and the ability to do business across multiple field of technology. This need to be in data center, automotive, gpu, and where ever light speed is needed.

Incredible interview with Jensen Huang - especially when Jensen talks about pain and glee, and why folks who show signs of greatness are different from the folks who have big brains and high expectations but not enough character, to which belongs resilience, smartness and being grounded, and, in addition, have low expectations regarding success. They excel in understanding pain, suffering, and, yes, glee.

Thats his own dream !! Not all American dream wish him to become successful Only his wife knows what he had to go through and that is his wife who met him since she was 17 , she is white but fell in love with him see him as a genius and humble fell in love with him before they got married . She’s 1 trillion nearest wife now because she married to him . He is not only genius humble but also a truly loyal and kind man who is a great husband and dad as well as contributing his life time to this country not to mention his invention and job opportunities he has provided to many engineers and clarks who work for his company . He made the decision to leave his previous company was the best decision in order to achieve his goals and able to recognize his invention . No one actually helped him to achieve him before he started his own company except his wife and kids who have been next to him support his idea and his dream . Its his own dram . Btw He’s not from Vietnam he’s not a refugee . He did not get any government support .

A few days after the video linked in this post was published, the proposed merged failed. The reason it's so important for every NVDA investor to watch is due to the number of joint ventures NVDA sells its chips too. That's a bland way of pointing out that NVDA buys its own chips (not a joke). The deal in the video shows a lot of unsavory characters were involved as well as China, which is currently prohibited from acquiring NVDA AI GPUs due to US sanctions. The failed deal was out in the public eye. Can you imagine what is happening at these joint ventures that are private? You've been warned... kzbin.info/www/bejne/iZPGo5J_oq5jY9Esi=0b02_LBq61E8vJJ3

Lots of interesting materials and processes for the current and future needs of communications and sensing. Commercialization paths from multiple QD powder suppliers is especially encouraging since supply chain has been a weakness. I am still surprised to see 'proprietary' labels on slides obviously distributed as public information. I recall that if a company uses labeling like that too often, essentially everything can be considered public knowledge and the classification become meaningless. Thanks for posting this video.

Hello Jose! I am a new college student who is on track to go into photonic engineering and am interested in moving to Japan. I am currently in the US and I was wondering what you think about the landscape of landing a job over there with a degree in photonics, seeing as the field seems to be thriving! I have been considering my options as to whether I want to finish my bachelors in a Japanese university, or get it in the US and then do my masters in Japan. I hope you see this and that this is not too much to ask! Many thanks.

Congratulations to Optica for hosting this event. I'm sorry Attochron missed notification of this event as we would have welcomed sharing our results for the recently-concluded FSOC demonstration of Attochron Gbps+ FSOC with a global Fortune 100 retailer and the Tier 1 carrier Lumen (formerly CenturyLink) in the USA. The purpose was to carry the retailer's ultra-sensitive MPLS tunnel circuit through all types of weather over a 2.25km link range for many months in the challenging weather of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia, USA (featuring some of the heaviest fog in the world). The demonstration was a success showing that the global *terrestrial* market sweet spot of 1.6km for enterprise access could now be solved with Attochron's FSOC. This was accomplished with the world's only *short coherence length* optical source (not a laser) and is process of being commercialized with leading FSOC manufacturing vendors now. A note regarding the question to Dr. Nikolaus Karafolas about the potential of using ultrashort pulse lasers (USPL) in free space optical communications: Attochron is the global exclusive developer of 'USPL FSOC(TM)' as represented by both a global patent position for the concept and a legacy of demonstrating full-duplex, Gbps+ USPL FSOC up to almost 12km (see Attochron's demonstrations on our youtube channel as well as our LinkedIn). Attochron continues to work to bring USPLs themselves to a carrier-grade performance level (100K hours MTBF) and at the desired telecommunications wavelengths that coincide with atmospheric transmissivity windows. Thank you, Tom Chaffee, CEO Attochron attochron.com
