Just picked one of these up but how do you tell what year?Is that scuttle remade or where the rollers made as one with the meth burner.Also what color scheme have you used? Fantastic rebuild😊😊
@recollectable4258Ай бұрын
The 1961 models were the first rollers and factory built with the one piece burner scuttle. 1965 saw the two piece burner and the introduction of pop rivets to hold parts together instead of nuts and bolts. 1968 saw the introduction of a reverse gear lever 1972 saw new design wheels and whistle 1978 the introduction of a sight glass instead of a water level plug Hope that helps you date yours Cheers Rich

Hi there I'm John I'm from East London I just want to say that you are very skilled in what you do I wouldn't have a first idea about what to do about remaking the model like that it is amazing absolutely well done I'm I would say I've got a green Line bus that I brought a while back I think from a car boot sale it's a dinky bus I wish I knew how to do it I mean it's not as complicated as the model you're doing now it's just again it's a single decker green Line bus it has got a mechanism where the doors meant to open it did work at some point but well put it this way when I when I got the bus it was working and for some reason it's not working now but yeah the models you do absolutely amazing

I had one of those as a child, spent many hours running it. It took a while to run in and run at maximum speed. Mine was the original with the green methylated spirit burner. Eventually the copper pipe connection to the cylinder plate broke.

Yes I know the model with the green meths burner, if you was to repair that pipe it would probably still run as good.

The holes in the base make it look like Meccano, but it was not Meccano. It could not easily be used with Meccano, because the holes were the wrong size and the wrong spacing for Meccano compatibility. Mamod do make a Meccano steam engine, but this wasn't it.
