Gannicus is my favorite fighter, but this scene was clearly meant to show the audience that Onemaus was the better gladiator. They would have had them fight without any handicaps if they were trying to portray otherwise. But Onemaus still giving him trouble while chained with a “sword” comparable to a king dagger and no armor, shows us that has the fight been on even terms. Gannicus would have been slain. They needed to keep Gannicus alive to make the history accurate, since Gannicus plays a bigger part later on in the real life incident

If i was working on this series i would have had glaber stab or slice spartacus in the leg with his pugio at the end, and then have that wound get him killed in the last season.

Spartacus and his rebellion were eventually defeated .. but Rome never recovered ... Corruption and contempt for their fellow man eventually led to romes fall.. the ottoman empire merely landed the finishing blow.
