That’s a great move by Zearfoss but if he plans to run for points my question is how will he travel to the big shows as most tracks still have point races during Knoxville and Eldora which I don’t agree with , sure run your tracks but don’t make them point races during those shows give PA locals a chance to run the big shows if they chose I believe it use to be like that if I’m not mistaken
@NicoleSignorКүн бұрын
Maybe they’re starting off the season with the mindset of running for pts, but depending how the season goes and pts, maybe that will change BZR’s “traveling” to the bigger races. If high in pts, then stay local, type move. Or they could just run for owners pts and he would be allowed to miss races, ie Knoxville/Eldora.

The amount of big money late model races is mind blowing
@scottrossingnol60342 күн бұрын
I think it has a lot to do with the addition of a 2nd national series. It's been like that in the Late Models for 20 years now, so maybe a little accelerated from 15 years ago, but only by a few years. That 2nd series offers more opportunities for the top regional drivers to step up and move on so to speak. This forces increased payouts in other regional series races and even some local races to get recognized drivers to show up. Sure there's likely some growing pains to be had, but I do think it's better for the long term growth of sprint car racing.
@joshmorningstar96502 күн бұрын
The sprintcar world. Is prime to have more true outlaws. That can make a living racing. And not have to sell their soul to a sanctioning body. I hope this keeps moving in this direction. Something is just better about a race. When Rico / Marks / Macri and others. With no affiliation to a series. Would show up and always be in the mix for the win. I think that type of driver goes 100 percent every night. No sandbagging for points in a 90 race schedule.
@scottrossingnol60342 күн бұрын
I think the biggest issue is the 90 race schedule for a series. It makes each individual race win less significant and therefore less worth the risk of going for the win.

That is definitely the truth, northeast Pa. And Ohio has always had top notch race tracks and the best talent, from Wolfgang to Macri, racing has gotten alot more expensive in the last few years, it would be great to see new faces and talent.

Is it possible that some of the drivers/teams choosing a national series is not for "status", but perhaps for exposure? nation wide exposure. Sponsors get much more exposure with the nation wide teams.
@SprintCarUnlimited3 күн бұрын
Here is the problem with exposure. It can't really be measured. There is no hard data. Plus, since 2020 and the growth of streaming, there haven't been that many new sponsors to come into the sport. The biggest is Albaugh with Macedo. There have been a couple of others, but hardly an injection of new sponsors worried about exposure on a national tour. Also, my point was directed more toward the mid-range teams ... not the big ones.

Everyone wants to look at the winner share and that’s fine but that only helps a select few. The winner and the guy who ran last in the feature pretty much pay the same to race, fuel pit pass and a tire, wear and tear on the car. I feel Knoxville is doing it the best at 1k to start a local feature. It just builds a better foundation for the sport.
@SprintCarUnlimited3 күн бұрын
I agree with your sentiment about paying down through. Still, it's easier to win here than on the road. You also save on expenses by keeping the car here. Knoxville does a great job, but they only have 14 races for 410s outside of the Nationals. Or at least that many that were run last season. And regardless where you run, you need to win races to make real money.
@michaelsonnon23333 күн бұрын
I agree with your point about Knoxville, but how many other tracks around it pay that much? In Pa. there are a host of tracks that can be run. You can run three shows every weekend without driving more than 50-75 miles. Over the course of a season, it adds up quickly. One track doing it is great, 4 or 5 doing it benefits a lot more teams. I think Knoxville is the palace of race tracks and credit should go to them, but more opportunities for not just money, but lap time and experience are much greater in Pa. To me, that is a foundation to build on.

Simple math is the answer.

@SprintCarUnlimited Have you done a deep dive in the past. About how central pa got this way. I dont think many people understand. How long ago it started in pa. And how many good people up routed their lives. And made the journey here. It's an impressive list of local legends.
@1919champ3 күн бұрын
It’s not the money you make, it’s the money you keep. Compared to WOO, High Limit , running in Central Pa. must be a bargain as far as costs. More opportunities to run mean more chance to make a buck and keep it. Did I say the racing is some of the best on the planet. Lots of support infrastructure in place as well. Weather. Well, let’s not talk as put that.
