Those driver's seats are 100 x better than the seats on the mainline 🇬🇧 trains that I used to drive. Siemens Disastro ones weren't too bad but still nothing like this.

I always liked the flexity models. This looks like a good next step.

Does Avelia Horizon have customers aside from SNCF?
@redyau_3 күн бұрын
Being made by Alstom, this is not a cash-grab-startup scheme. I regularly travel on their automated metros already. This seems promising for trains! Considering also that they can already run fully automated on lines with modern signalling, and just need a human to look out for obstacles.

Absolute tosh, hate them, if you like traveling in a sardine can, then fine. I worked on board on these trains and hated them.

Who releases something like that as advertising? Are we a bicycle manufacturer now? It's just embarrassing what's going on here...😂

I wonder if you know the proportion of energy used that goes into traction versus the amount that goes into peripherals? I remember reading somewhere that at cruising speed, it's 60% traction and 40% peripherals (outlets, heating, ventilation, air conditioning...). This seems relatively low for traction, which is why I'm trying to find the source.

Glad the xtrap 2.0 will have airbag suspension like any half decent suburban train from the last 50 years should. Xtrap 100 suspension is horrid and a terrible fit for Melbourne tracks. Dont blame Alstom for that, I blame Connex for being cheapskates and Kennett for letting them run the network.
