Tbh that one stick looks kinda unsafe and it took a lot out of you, you guys notice he’s breathing a lot harder on climbing that one stick then the four sticks.

Great review. I took the frame out of mine and flattened it out. It had way too much bend in it.

Just for reference to those curious or saying its only for very young slim people, I was 6ft 300lbs last climbing season and used this method wihout any issues at all. It looks much more challenging then it is, but when you are hanging and reaching down for your stick you barely use any effort. You are literally hust hanging, then rotate your hips a little and you can reach your stick. If you are fit enough to climb a normal ladder then you can do this method. I have lost 50+lbs since last hunting seaosn so this season will be even easier

Pretty convenient the tree had zero limbs which is advantage for the one stick.

I know it's been 3 years since you did all this but, I'm curious what your thoughts on it now after all this time??? Reason I ask is because I'm considering buying this entire setup for this coming season???
@JaHui5133 ай бұрын
If you used an aider on the first stick thatd get you about 3 extra feet before you have to setup the second stick

That was badass how you went down the tree and I’ve always wondered how you get your rope down

No need to burp at them when they are that close and barely moving. This will hurt you more times than not. Just an observation after 40 years of bow hunting. Nice shot and kill young man.

Does the eastern woods out door one stick come with the cam cleat, and the retractable wire handle, or are they bought separately?

As you said, "if you forget your stick up there, you'd be going right back up" I was wondering how since your only stick is up the tree.
@andrewsanders5774Ай бұрын
It definitely wouldn't be fun or fast but you could use your linesman belt and ascender/fritch hitch as a foot aider on your main line to SRT climb back up

Some places I ground hunt, some places I hunt in a climbing stand, some places I hunt in a saddle with 1 stick and some places with 4 sticks. I’m 56 and I can tell you it just depends on the spot you’re hunting. There’s no perfect stand for all hunting situations. In a tree, I like to be at 25 feet, I’ve hunted lower and higher depending on the tree and cover. I’ve killed more deer within 10 yards on the ground than I care to admit. It’s a rush though. In 2014 I had a platform slip down the tree and I fell about 25 feet and landed on the side of my head and shoulder, didn’t break anything. Felt like Mike Tyson beat me up though. I got lucky and now I wear a harness, so 30 plus years I never thought about a harness. Funny how things can change you. Be safe guys and enjoy the great outdoors. There’s nothing like sitting in a tree and watching the world wake up.

You also have to remember, you have to be as quiet as you possibly can. This will add significant time ( probably at least 50% more). You did a good job on this. Also, in most cases, you will need to be 18’ minimum to the platform. Depending how tall ( and young 😅) you are you may have to add a stick.

I have a set (3 piece) of Muddy climbing sticks They have the versa button. I am really interested in trying the One Stick method but the sticks have the versa button. I'm just curious, what's the issue with using sticks with a versa button? Is it because the versa button would be harder to remove the stick from the tree? I'd like to change my sticks to cam cleats but the sticks are so old I'm not ever sure a cam cleat could be mounted on the sticks.

You seemed to be biased towards the one stick because you moved with more of a purpose when using it. You were somewhat lackadaisical when doing the 4 stick. To each their own just be safe
