I understand why someone wouldn't like the solo but I think we can all appreciate the masterclass in drum face

I love Christian Vander's music, but even *he* can't keep me interested in a drum solo.

Some of the syncopated beats sounded quite off. Never heard Vander play so sloppily.

He looks like some one from the audience having a go for the first time. Carl Palmer he most definitely is not.

@@Turquoise_Yachting_Club I totally agree. I was at a Magma concert once in which he played a 45 minutes drum solo (yes, 45 minutes). I am a drummer myself, so I easily get bored when watching drum solos. But there was not a boring second in that solo. Only Vander can pull off something like that.

Saw Magma at the Roundhouse Chalk Farm in 1974 and Christian played the greatest drum solo I've ever seen or heard ( believe me I've witnessed a numbing amount ) ...The man is truly brilliant..

Did you see him play the Marquee that same year? They released a bootleg of it a few years ago and the drum solo was mind blowing.

I suggest playing the bass drum on all four quarter notes of the measure, playing as lightly as possible. This will develop your "feathering" technique.
