I'm a late diagnosted autistic woman and faked my whole life that I'm "normal". Then I got a feeling that I could be autistic and met other neurodivergent people. Never before I had such a good time but neurotypical professionals still told me, I can't be autistic. That was the point another autistic woman said to me "Honey, in this moment you're surrounded by 12 very crazy, very autistic individuals and you feel COMFY. Think about it." I got an appointment in another autism center and got the diagnose. I asked why and they said I'm autistic - well masking, even for professionals, but yeah autistic. Today I know it's a big previlege to have access to an good health system...and an even bigger one to have professionals seeing behind the mask or putting the old stereotypical symptoms behind. Self diagnosis ist valid 🫶
