Intresting hike. Thanks I have this NotchLi. MY MODS: 1.) four stake loops added, 2 per side on fly hem. I used Tenacious Tape reinforcement circles "sandwiched" around the hem edge of the fly. I sewed narrow nylon webbing loops and girth hitched heavy duty women's elastic hair bands to the loops for strain relief in high winds. 2.) I dyed the inner tent with green RIT Dyemore synthetic fabric dye for shade and privacy. This tent is capable, when guyed out, of handling a moderate wet snow load and keeping out spindrift IF you have the "solid" nylon inner tent with top mesh vents. Basically a strong design when PROPERLY guyed and staked. Love the 2 doors/vestibles like my Moment DW and SCARP 2.

Today I adapted my cheepo bivy bag into a highly breathable bag. I waterproofed with Nikwax some non pilling hoody type material and cut a 1 metre long panel out of the top of the bivvy bag. I replaced it with the highly breathable material. So now I won't get any condensation inside the bivy bag and I still have all the waterproofing abilities of a bivvy bag.

Very desolate looking terrain. Maybe a tree planting campaign is in order. I have the NOTCH Li. I've added 4 stake-out points around the fly hem using Tenacious Tape fo reinforcement. Also I dyed teh inner tent green (except flooring) with TIT DYEMORE synthetic dye. Keep teh Dyneema OUT of the hot dye water! Tarptemnt absolutely has among the very best tent designs and THE best Dyneema tent build quality.

Nice review! I have a smilar UM2 but without the inner. How does it hold in really rubbish weather, like horisontal rain? Does the raindrops get blown under and in, and does it get wet inside? I haven't had time to test mine in those conditions, but planning to take it to the southern alps of New Zealand next summer/early autumn. The weather there can be severe.

@hillwalker662 жыл бұрын
Hi Richard Compared to the larger mids it is a little compact… but I like the design with 2 doors/porches. The smaller size is quite handy for squeezing into tight pitches. Yep it’s a flatcat senior windshield, been using it for quite a few years. TFW ATB Daron

Bloody did enjoy that journey Daron another bostin route so thanks for making it clear where you went. About 30 years ago I walked from Dinnas along what is now the Cambrian Way to north of the Rhinogs in winter and there was a lot of snow on Cadir, I was with my Dad and we wild camped and slept in the toilets on a closed farm campsite at the foot of Cadir. Interesting that you crossed the road and did the hills on the other side. Great video Daron. Cheers. 🌞🍻

Thanks Dave that sounds like quite an adventure. I’ve walked and camped in both the Dyfi and Aran hills quite a few times but had always missed out Y Cribin and Foel Benddin, this route was planned to ‘bag’ those summits. The descent from Foel Benddin was interesting to say the least… the last few hundred meters was down pathless, waist high bilberry and bracken scree covered slopes. TFW ATB Daron.

@@hillwalker66 Yes I did look at that bit and thought how the hell are going to get to the road from there as I think the lower bits can be very scrubby around there. I'm in Grassington for a week and did my only long hike of the Holiday yesterday with an accent of Buckden pike and unbelievably no pain from my knee overnight or this morning so it must have done it some good. Kind regards.

Beautiful video - really enjoyed thanks. Sad I know, but I get a kick out of seeing 'my' kit in other folks' videos. Same burner, same fuel bottle (that Vargo is a corker), but that's a big heavy old blowtorch you've got there mate! I use these little chips of wood with magic ends - when rubbed they give a flame - plus a miniscule ferro rod (use knife spine as striker) as backup.
